This specific location is more ideal for hitting beijing than most of japan, but also EXTREMELY valuable for hitting targets heading towards taiwan in the case of china invading them. Really wish sanae gave up the military posturing and just invested more economic resources into taiwan directly.

She is a MAGA cultist, don't expect anything of that happening. Like.. investing into their own people. Nooo, using anti-foreigner rhetoric is far more effective to win supports. She is from the old imperialist Japan school of thought.

FederalExpressMan Apr 1, 2026 +33
Can’t think of one PM that is not imperialist. Japan is run by rich families from pre-World War II
33
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +17
A lot people don't know that fact and it is by design. I think a liberal party was in control of Japan right after WWII but then USA supported the right wingers in their effort to contain China and Soviet Union.

FederalExpressMan Apr 1, 2026 +21
Abe’s grandfather, who was also a prime minister, is a class A war criminal. This guy ran slave labor camps in Manchukuo and makes Trump’s antics look like child’s play. I don’t know why he wasn’t tried after WWII and put to death. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobusuke_Kishi

lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +3
Don't tell Trump that.. he might want to out do him

KidOcelot Apr 1, 2026
Japan should just shoot China and get it over with. Japan’s never going to apologize for their genocide of other asians, so they might as well court death faster #/s

lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +2
As much as I hate that to happen, probably what will happen if Japan kept poking the dragon.
2
Shahariar_909 Apr 1, 2026 +3
Country going in shitters ?.... Nooo let's go do some war. As if Japan can survive against china
3
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +2
They really shouldn't, because war benefits nobody (except the military industrial complex)
2
Shahariar_909 Apr 1, 2026 +3
There is one country that would like this to happen. War means US gets to sell more weapons.

you mean the woman who was photographed next to a neo nazi wearing a swastika, loves trump, has stated Japan did nothing wrong in WW2 and what they did was not hard enough they should have done more along with all the other ultra conservative shit will give up military posturing? This woman you say? [https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/article/1587835/shinzo-abes-new-cabinet-members-deny-neo-nazi-links](https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/article/1587835/shinzo-abes-new-cabinet-members-deny-neo-nazi-links)

China is not invading Japan stop.

I think you meant to put this on a different comment, I really don't think our replies are related.
2
22stanmanplanjam11 Apr 1, 2026 -10
Military posturing is what keeps China from doing what Russia’s doing in Ukraine.
-10
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +7
China hasn't been in a war for almost 50 years. Let that sink in. How many wars have USA been in and is in? Japan is so full of shit right now, thinking our MAGA GOD KING is going to back them.. lol, they forgot they are not Israel. You know what I think? All this propaganda against China is maga's tactics to win votes. Ever since Soviet went down, we have been lacking an enemy for our population to hate. Hate and fear are our best political tool to win votes. Definitely not kindness, building up our infrastructure, giving healthcare to our people, making shit affordable, oh no, none of that fancy shit! We have to be tough, we have to police the entire f****** globe! We have to defend freedom and democracy! Human rights and shit! Yet, nobody f****** cares about what is happening at home. Gun violence, PDF in chief, the Epstein class, none of that matters... Only what other countries are doing matter! Rawr hoorah.

China isn't a saint also, disputes with half its neighbours?
-6
InevitableTension699 Apr 1, 2026 +4
you know Taiwan have more disputes with Japan over Islands than China does? Even the Chinese dispute is based on the Taiwanese claim but they say they are the rightful blah blah instead. Lots of countries have land disputes but being adults they talk it out, some times with yelling and political maneuvers like trade and tourism and etc but only lands of manbabies and pedophiles like the US/Israel/Russia for example have been invading their neighbours in the last 50 years
4
JY0950 Apr 1, 2026 -1
In an alternate reality, would the Sino India conflict occur? Or the disputes with the South East Asian neighbours? I think any regional hegemony will have disputes with its neighbours and the CCP is no exception. China has not invaded but who knows when they might.
-1
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +1
Disputes? Like water guns? They haven't bombed anybody or kidnapped another country's leader or put crazy tariffs on penguins. We have been saying China will attack Taiwan for like decades, USA politicians have wet dreams about that scenario because they know that will weaken China and you think they don't know what USA wants? They saw Ukraine and they know exactly what we are thinking. Nope.
1
JY0950 Apr 1, 2026 -9
Water guns today, ramming warships tomorrow, who knows, they rammed themselves also.
-9
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +6
Yeah yeah kept talking about hypothetical scenarios. It is always other country bad. We are the moral police. I think we have no position to talk shit at all right now. We are f****** up the world.
6
JY0950 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I don't think its a hypothetical scenario when Chinese warships in attempt to ram the opposing side's warships, rammed into their done instead.
1
zookdook1 Apr 1, 2026 +1
China has [rammed its own ships before](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cev22n0lm1xo) while pursuing the ships of other countries in disputed waters. That came after they [did actually ram another country's ship](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gp46dm49yo), and after they [boarded a ship with swords and knives](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgee719kqpdo). China, of course, claims pretty much *all* the waters in the region. I'm not American, and the present American administration is horrendous and I think it should be regarded as such. That doesn't mean China isn't also exerting hostile pressure on its neighbours.

Supratones Apr 1, 2026 -3
Uygher genocide Yeah theyre real saints
-3
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +4
Please send proof other than CIA propaganda. While we can see exactly what USA and Israel are doing in Gaza and Lebanon and bombing of Iranian school girls. Every accusation is a confession.
4
22stanmanplanjam11 Apr 1, 2026 -13
The US has been in a lot more wars because the military posturing of our adversaries is mostly saying that we tricked you into killing us and now we’re a martyr. It’s not as effective as a deterrent.

_TheEnlightened_ Apr 1, 2026 +2

A move to Kumamoto in Kyushu Island is closer, yes. A move to Okinawa would be much closer, but they didn't do that. A bit sensationalized here.
91
vava2603 Apr 1, 2026 +10
problem with okinawa , drones can easily locate and destroy those launchers : not a lot of space where to hide
10
steve_ample Apr 1, 2026 +1
Interesting. If I recall the ww2 maps for the planned invasion of Japan (Olympic in Kagoshima), the only real flat plains region were around the shores of the bay and were just mountains everywhere else.
1
Nerevarine91 Apr 1, 2026 +57
It’s Kumamoto, in Kyushu, far from the closest part of Japan to China.
57
garmander57 Apr 1, 2026 +11
Kumamoto is the home of Camp Sengun, Japan’s main western SDF base for ground forces and an ideal strategic location for placing missile launchers. Type-12 missiles are also specifically made for land-to-ship strikes, meaning they’d most likely be used to defend Taiwan or the disputed 尖閣諸島/钓鱼台 islands.
11
vava2603 Apr 1, 2026 -8
a few missiles won t change anything. And so much publicity around it everybody know the gps coordinate of those launcher now , lol.

No, but posing with neo nazis, publicly stating Japan did nothing wrong (and should have done more) in WWII and public courting Trump is. Or are you ignoring that?

Only the current Japanese Prime Minister. Also making deals is not the same as publicly courting, or are you grouping them together so it doesnt look as bad

[posing with nazis](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/09/neo-nazi-photos-pose-headache-for-shinzo-abe) [praising hitler](https://www.nytimes.com/1994/06/08/world/japanese-book-praises-hitler-for-his-electoral-techniques.html) [urging for war apologies to be backtracked](https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424127887324081704578231300325806518) Just to name a few

China: How many long range missiles you produce to against me? Japan: Dozens! China: Dozens? Not bad, not bad. How much did you produced yesterday?

grateful2you Apr 1, 2026 +1
These things increasingly look like old relics with drones flying directly into them. Iran’s underground launchers are the way to go it seems.

I wonder if this will be like the movie Threads or the Day After? Watched Threads for the first time last night. Be careful if you do watch it is allI will say.
2
Temporary-Cell- Apr 1, 2026 +2
I actively discourage people from watching it. The scariest of movies. In a “The Road” kind of way. Never again.

Seems logical considering all the military bases with missiles china put on disputed reef artificial islands. Not to mention their huge new ICBM fields.
-10
InevitableTension699 Apr 1, 2026 +25
you mean the reefs which are further from Japan than the chinese main land?
25
vava2603 Apr 1, 2026 -10
tbh there is a real problem : Japan EEZ is 5 times larger than the Chinese one. If one looks at a map there is clearly an imbalance . The main reasons are those small pieces of rock very far from Japan as you mentioned it
-10
Nerevarine91 Apr 1, 2026 +9
I think they’re talking about ones in the South China Sea, which is nowhere near Japan’s EEZ
9
Poonpan85 Apr 1, 2026 +6
Yes, because China has long and rich history of invading Japan. /s
6
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +6
It is kind of ironic that we dropped 2 atom bombs on Japan plus the firebombs over tokyo and now they kiss Donald's ass like so hardddd. And when Trump humiliated prime minister takaichi in front of her face about Pearl Harbor, you can sense the sudoku being committed in the room.
6
patrickthunnus Apr 1, 2026 -3
China just found out that denial of access strategy isn't their monopoly; two (or more) can play that game.
-3
lkxyz Apr 1, 2026 +1
I have a feeling Trump going to China in May is going to be him trying to upsell China the Venezuela oil that he illegally seized. It makes sense. And China will buy if the price is reasonable. The communist party is not ideological, they are pragmatic. So can we stop shooting ourselves in the foot with this Iran thing?
1
cjp2010 Apr 1, 2026 -2
Honestly let’s just have this world war. If I die in it then all my problems are solved. If I survive and billions don’t my employment and romantic prospects will be better with less competition. F*** it, the sooner we get to it the sooner we get through it.
