A volcano in southern Japan has erupted for the second time in four months, sending huge plumes of ash billowing kilometres into the sky, the weather agency and local media reported.

the Sakurajima? doesn't that one erupt not kinda frequently, anyway?

Its a pretty active volcano. It also erupted December 13th and November 16th last year

I would call two eruptions in a year frequent. But I'm not a volcanologist.

yeah, I've just been to visitor center of that volcano and last year they counted 172 explosive eruptions (multiple are counted separately even if it's same day). This is the first this year. (I missed it by 2 days, kinda wanted to experience it from a save distance)
