Rico Dowdle just got penalized for doing only 2 pumps last fall.

The Viking funeral counts as 2 pumps.

Kinda silly that would matter, it's not like his d*** was ever exposed. Even if it was that would be a bizarre leap to NC17.

The entire rating system is a vague give and take in dumb stuff. Think "you can have a f*** if you take out 3 shits" level of random

If anyone's interested, there's a pretty good documentary called "This Film is Not Yet Rated" that goes into the history of the MPAA rating system. The MPAA are basically a small group of socially conservative shut-ins who make extremely arbitrary movie rating decisions. The doc has some really funny examples of the idiocy and hypocrisy of the MPAA.

It's a bit older, but still like 90% applicable.

Nc-17 shouldn’t even exist, R rating leaves it in the parents hands. Nc-17 is just a way for them to censor movies without them straight up censoring movies because nc-17 movies rarely get wide release

I imagine the writing room had a hard decision between Jason Biggs P**** or Shannon Elizabeth T***.

And they chose wisely

That’s ok we got the p**** a decade or so later in American Reunion

It also depends on what the context to the "f***" is and whether it's leading to straight or gay sex

Because it’s designed by prudes to determine things.

Hitchcock would famously get an initial R rating from the film board and then re submit the same cut saying that he toned things down and get a lower rating.

I recommend

The original cut had him on top of the pie, missionary style. It looked a lot filthier, somehow.

Soft core p*** rarely shows penetration though. Artistic in nature or theme… so this could easily qualify for that

ScramItVancity Mar 24, 2026 +16
Kristen Wiig said the MPAA had a problem with the amount of "pumps" during her scene with Will Forte in MacGruber.

i read somewhere that one of the twilight movies managed to avoid the R rating because the moan and thrust weren't timed to be together. So my friend and I would do this as greeting at bars and parties. a thrust and then a 7 or 8 count before a moan. good times.

Have you ever watched the movies? What scene are you talking about? It’s been a long time since I’ve watched the movies. Sx was heavily implied in the last movies, but there was never anything close to explicit in the Twilight movies… It was all ‘fade to black’ sx scenes iirc. And then the aftermath of their relations, Bella was absolutely thirsting for more but there no moaning or thrusting that I remember

Actually yes. One. The reason I was reading about it was because I was at a bar with friends and girlfriends were going to see the opening of breaking dawn and I was just tipsy enough to go along with them. I remember being surprised at how graphic a sex scene was considering the age of the crowd which leaned tweeners of course. [https://stereogum.com/1759892/will-an-r-rated-sex-scene-make-the-twilight-breaking-dawn-dvd/videogum](https://stereogum.com/1759892/will-an-r-rated-sex-scene-make-the-twilight-breaking-dawn-dvd/videogum) I can't find the exact article but here's this. They could show that kind of scene but if you say "f***" twice it would be rated R. All very arbitrary.

Most R rated movies have a story like this

AgentCrowley24 Mar 23, 2026 +5
Now there’s a headline I never expected to read 😅

I can’t remember the name of the book, but for French Canadians the preferred experiment is peanut butter inside of an apple core because of some high school novel they have to read. I’ll have to ask my Acadian friend the next time I see him.

I don’t get how this shows up in the news section of Reddit.

watering_a_plant Mar 24, 2026 +4
that's just user error. you're in the r/entertainment subreddit.
4
Individual-Channel65 Mar 24, 2026 +3
I don't agree with his general opinion. But for context, in the side tab, you can sort by news, popular, etc. This post comes up in the "news" section.
3
tulip-quartz Mar 24, 2026 +1
I know what a subreddit is. These types of articles still show up on the front page of the News section
1
watering_a_plant Mar 24, 2026
the news section is just a specific group of subreddits, of which r/entertainment is one. again....how reddit works.

Grabthar-the-Avenger Mar 24, 2026
This is the celebrity tabloid subreddit. I don’t get why people act surprised to see vapid celebrity anecdotes as they browse the gossip sub. If you don’t want to see it then stop browsing it
0
tulip-quartz Mar 24, 2026 +1
I am not browsing it , how obtuse can you be. It shows up in the News section of Reddit
1
Grabthar-the-Avenger Mar 24, 2026
That sounds like something you’re voluntarily browsing on your own accord since I don’t even know what “news section” means in the context of reddit. “News” is a different subreddit altogether
0
tulip-quartz Mar 24, 2026 +1
Ok if you don’t know about the news section of Reddit then don’t worry about it. I’m not talking about the news subreddit as I’ve mention before
1
Grabthar-the-Avenger Mar 24, 2026 +1
Is it thing you voluntarily follow?
