I didn't know it wasn't his accent. Can't believe he does a better Yorkshire than DDL. Although to give him some slack he was next to Sean Bean whose thick Sheffield accent is his defining feature.

You’ll have to watch Wonder Man to find out!
Edit - Also, it was [just announced today](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/s/OVlopM3lw8) that it’s renewed for a S2! That’s some weird timing.

If it has the same sardonic humor as The Death of Stalin, I'm in.
That movie does dark humor really well, not just "say random offensive thing to get a sympathy laugh".

I was gonna say Isaacs just munches the scenery every time he's in frame, but honestly pretty much everyone is running at their career best. Great movie, and entertaining too.
Supposedly Buscemi "always wanted to play Kruschev", or so I heard in an interview, and I thought to myself, "what a peculiar ambition". Then I thought about it a little bit more, and, well, no, not really. Commissar in WW2, nearly blown up fifty bazillion times in and around Stalingrad, and then makes the decision to back down - political suicide in the USSR - in the face of armageddon. So yeah, you go Steve, you play that Kruschev.
And who can forget the [rendition of the Cuban Missile Crisis but told through the art of dance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl6k_h2drK8).

Pretty much. It was gallows humor that related to the chaotic period and setting: Soviet Union during and immediately after Stalin.
I know I would never get it, but it would be fun to see the same concept applied to other Soviet rulers. I’m a sucker for Soviet history and the Cold War in general.

The genius of the _DoS_ script is how it took a chunk of actual history - the _broad_ flow of events - and condensed it down in a way that doesn't force you to suspend your disbelief. While maintaining crystal-clear on the actual _rhythm_ of the events (and an inimical very-Russian-feeling sensation of mania bordering on the very edge of control).
Don't mistake my meaning here: it's not a documentary.
But it preserves the _rhythm_ of the events brilliantly.

InnocentTailorMar 24, 2026

Pretty much. It gets the feel of this paranoid period of time while touching upon historical events.

> Set against the summer of 1942, as war rages in Europe, the period comedy follows the family of a teenage boy who is away fighting at the front. In a bid to secure his safety, they welcome his volatile commanding officer into their rural village home.
> The sociopathic army major rapidly forces them to abide by his insane obsessive rules and the family is pushed to absurd and devastating extremes in the name of love.

Ruth Nega?… hard pass.
Her “acting” consists of 90% repeatedly tilting her head to the left.
That’s it. The extent of her repertoire
