If it ends on him in the recording booth voicing the dog in Fievel Goes West, then all is forgiven.

Wait, that trailer wasn't a skit?

stereosalvation Mar 31, 2026 +85
Jimmy Stewart being famously parodied for decades and decades on top of having multiple actors with iconic comedic roles under their belt playing alongside does not help.

Dana Carvey does hilarious impressions of him an that’s all I heard when I watched the trailer for this movie

I kinda wished he had the Winchester 73 gun and offed him right there and then :-).

IceLord86 Mar 31, 2026 +6
All I ever remember is Jim Carrey on SNL. "Hi I'm Jimmy Stewart and I'm incredibly old."

MasterOfManyWorlds Mar 31, 2026 +1
Rob Riggle and Jason Alexander appearing in the movie doesn't help either

I borrowed the five spot from Mr. Potter.

He looks like Ty Burrell and Michael Shannon fucked.

Good work. Strike while the iron's hot. Maybe follow it up with an Errol Flynn bio.

Jimmy Stewart's war time actions would make a great film, but this is likely to be just about how Jesus made it all possible.
42
AngryGardenGnomes Mar 31, 2026 +4
Why do you say that? Was there religious stuff in the trailer?
4
bookon Mar 31, 2026 +7
The film makers. They only make Christian films.
7
Icy-Length-3923 Apr 1, 2026 +2
Not sure why that’s a negative. James Stewart being religious is part of who he was, just like his war service.
2
bookon Apr 1, 2026 +2
That actually is fine. Like Hacksaw Ridge. Great film about a religious man whose faith made him a hero. The issue is that these new Christian films are propaganda. Like God's Not Dead, etc, they are about pushing a religion first and foremost, not telling a story.

Your religious views only apply to you.
17
KLTElol Mar 31, 2026 -35
back at you
-35
bookon Mar 31, 2026 +16
I agree. So then the film would be limited to those who agree with you. A better film about his bravery and heroism in the war would leave the religious stuff out and let you fill in your own blanks. I would want as many people as possible to see his story.
16
KLTElol Mar 31, 2026 -26
Heroism and bravery is just your opinion and that only applies to you
-26
bookon Mar 31, 2026 +10
Heroism and bravery are objectively measured here. Your religion is just your opinion on the unknowable. Worthy of no more or less respect than anyone else's.
10
KLTElol Mar 31, 2026 +10
It’s his religion, it’s his story and religion is very personal to his. He was very open about it and omitting it wouldn’t do the movie justice
10
ChildTaekoRebel Mar 31, 2026 +5
How the hell are heroism and bravery objectively measured? That statement makes no sense.
5
bookon Mar 31, 2026 +2
Well.. He could have done USO tours all over America and been safe, but instead he intentionally chose to fly many dangerous combat missions over Europe, ultimately earning the Distinguished Flying Cross - which is only awarded for bravery and heroism in flight. I think it's well known that, objectively, a person can be seen to have acted bravely. The word has meaning. You can have subjectict questions, but you can have objective bravery. Choosing to risk your life for others is brave. Period.

This will flop. Not enough audience to support a biopic about an actor, and one that has been out of the public eye for nearly 50 years.
14
DerBingle78 Mar 31, 2026 +12
30 years. His last role was in Fievel Goes West. He’s Wiley Burp.
12
GabeDef Mar 31, 2026 +8
Live Action was 1976
8
DerBingle78 Mar 31, 2026 +8
The Shootist was in ‘76. Then came Airport ‘77 in 1977. The Big Sleep and Magic of Lassie in ‘78. Green Horizon and Mr Krueger’s Christmas in ‘80. Right of Way in ‘83, North and South Book II in 86. Plenty of talk show appearances and other specials in there as well. When he died in 1997 he wasn’t an obscure, forgotten figure. He was still well known.

I love Jimmy Stewart and he actually did have a pretty interesting life. I would consider watching a biopic about his life if it looked promising. This...does not.
5
KingMario05 Mar 31, 2026 +8
This feels wrong. But Jimmy probably would have approved of KJ Apa, soooo...
8
Vio_ Mar 31, 2026 +13
He did biopics as well, so it's not exactly like the concept was foreign to him.
13
KingMario05 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Fair enough.

If they redo his reciting of the poem about his dog, I'm going to need you all to stop cutting those onions.

You lost me with Fathom. Their original films are notoriously shit
4
KMoosetoe Mar 31, 2026 +8
The only actor who could have ever properly portrayed Jimmy Stewart in a biopic was Nic Cage when he was younger
8
TheLordofthething Mar 31, 2026
I think Jim Cary would've given it a good go too.

I love Jimmy Stewart but this movie looks so terrible

To theaters? Good luck

Is that Mr Fantasy?

elitejcx Mar 31, 2026 +1
I thought a Jimmy Stewart biography already happened, but then I realised that he was in a biography about Glenn Miller. It’s messed with my brain.
1
Practical-Level-6265 Mar 31, 2026 +1
By all accounts James Stewart was a class act. I don’t know if he’s popular enough anymore to do a profitable biopic though

This and Angel Studios' Animal House are the rare movies I'd call Razzie bait.

Who asked for this movie?

MichaelMyersEatsDogs Mar 31, 2026 +29
Me. Guy is one of the most interesting actors of all time. Quit his movie career to do one of the most dangerous jobs in WW2 then came back like it was nothing.
29
DerBingle78 Mar 31, 2026 +16
Yeah, but he almost didn’t come back because of the ptsd. Capra convinced him and Stewart found the role of George Bailey cathartic.
16
Wayelder Mar 31, 2026 +6
God the USA could use more of this today. Jimmy showed it's not parotitic to hate.
6
MichaelMyersEatsDogs Mar 31, 2026 +21
He also showed how important it was to kill Nazis which is also important today

Having recently read his Wikipedia page frankly I find his story fascinating.
