That title sounds like the name of a Coheed and Cambria song.

I couldn't make sense of the title until I read this comment

Definitely seems like the follow-up to “Ten Speed (of God’s Blood and Burial)”.

What do you know, you’re just a bicycle.

DestituteDomino Apr 2, 2026 +11
Come on, that's ridiculous. If it was a Coheed song, it would be Propeller *The* One Way Night-Coach.

“Hello there Love, I am the Propeller: One-Way Night Coach”

Or a Scientology book

TotallyRegularBanana Apr 2, 2026 +25
This is based on a children's book Travolta wrote in the 80s or 90s. My pilot grandparents gave me a copy as a child.

faultysynapse Apr 2, 2026 +10
'90s, I think. I think I also had a copy. Little Blue book, white stars and a white airliner silhouette?

TotallyRegularBanana Apr 2, 2026 +5
That's the one!

>“Propeller One-Way Night Coach” unfolds in the golden age of aviation as young airplane enthusiast jeff (Clark Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) set off on a one-way cross country odyssey to Hollywood. “Between airline meals, charming fight attendants (Ella Bleu Travolta, Olga Hoffmann), unexpected stopovers, larger-than-life passengers, and a thrilling glimpse at first class, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boys future,” the synopsis reads.

That sounds terrible.

A thrilling glimpse at first class.

So reread it but imagine Wes Anderson wrote and directed.

The Darljeeling Limited…..but with planes!

immaownyou Apr 2, 2026 +3
Why? Plenty of great movies come from people traveling
3
MilesToHaltHer Apr 2, 2026 +3
It’s an adaption of a novella he wrote in the ‘90s for anyone wondering. Cute story.

AudibleNod Apr 2, 2026 +14
The guy loves flying. This could be watchable.
14
fujidust Apr 2, 2026 +22
Or insufferable

DumeWolffe Apr 2, 2026 +14
“A thrilling glimpse at first class”? nah this is going to be insufferable.

ILiveInAColdCave Apr 3, 2026 +1
Yeah, children never imagine the things they can't have as better than they actually are, right? Christ. Just because you are capable of hating on something before you've even seen it doesn't mean you have discernible taste.

This honestly sounds tone deaf AF given the economy rn. Last thing I want to do is watch a magical flight to Hollywood that includes a thrilling glimpse at first class.

bestofbot4 Apr 2, 2026 +15
You say that but there are consistent examples of successful movies that showcase the glitz and glam of Hollywood. People love escapism. Not to say that this movie will pull it off though

SirDiego Apr 2, 2026 +10
That made me laugh honestly. My concept of first class as someone who flies (coach) often is: "Pay $500 more to sit in the same stupid box as everyone else for a few hours but hey at least the flight attendants are required to kiss your ass." Thrilling.
10
sump_daddy Apr 2, 2026 +4
first class (at least today) is made up of 49.5% people who are paying the same but are point system slaves, and 49.5% people who got someone else to buy the ticket outright
4
SirDiego Apr 2, 2026 +1
That's probably true. I never found First Class to be worth it, exit rows are relatively c**** for the points (I can basically buy one every trip with just the miles I got from my last trip), and it's like 80% of the way to First Class, if not more, for 1/10th the cost. I paid points for first class once and just thought "Well this wasn't worth it at all."

kymri Apr 2, 2026 +1
First class is great for the seat-size and space, mostly. Sure, the flight attendants are more attentive (but that's because they're taking care of like 16 people instead of 100), and the food is definitely better (but still not as good as even a modest sit-down place). Now, I'm not sure if it's 'worth it', but if I could buy even a *slightly* wider seat for a price upgrade similar to what I spend to get an exit row, I would. But if you want a wider seat (particularly on domestic flights in the US on your standard narrow body 737/A320/A321), first class is the only option. I'm a big guy; six feet and broad enough (and yeah, some of it is fat, but only some - I have broad shoulders, too) that flying first class recently was the ONLY time I've ever felt remotely comfortable in an airplane seat in the last four decades.

Lame! I thought they were flying their own janky plane across the country. Now that I would watch
2
FX114 Apr 2, 2026 +1
There's a reason nobody has made a plane-based road movie before.

Dallywack3r Apr 2, 2026 +1
Insurance, mostly.

Milesware Apr 3, 2026 +1
Soul plane?
1
bongblaster420 Apr 2, 2026 +1
I would LOVE if there were actual fight attendant’s.
1
Lfsnz67 Apr 2, 2026 +1
Clark Shotwell?

kneeco28 Apr 2, 2026 +72
TIL Travolta didn't direct Battlefield Earth. He's so connected to that film and gets so much attention/hate for it that I guess I always just assumed it was his.
72
septober32nd Apr 2, 2026 +33
IIRC he was a very hands-on producer (in addition to playing the main villain of course).
33
NoNoNotorious85 Apr 2, 2026 +9
Oh no! What did he do to Barry Pepper?

ZackTheZesty Apr 2, 2026 +7
Debuting at 72? I guess it’s never too late to start.

TheMundar Apr 2, 2026 +7
Dude, drop propeller from the title
7
zippopamus Apr 2, 2026 +13
just based off of the title sounds like a bigger stinker than it actually is
13
Space_Hardware Apr 2, 2026 +4
I remember when this book came out in the 90s and got trashed by Entertainment Weekly and others. He would go out promoting it and folks weren’t allowed to talk about how it was less than fifty pages long (and that was with printing on only one side of the page). But whatever, he wrote a short story and wanted to make it a movie. Let him cook, I hope he has fun
4
perpetualmotionmachi Apr 3, 2026 +1
I don't understand how there was criticism that it was less than 50 pages. It was a kids book, most of them are less. And much shorter kids books have been made into films well; The Cat in the Hat or Where The Wild Things Area for example

Johnny Sins Travolta

The title just rolls off the tongue
6
Dustmopper Apr 2, 2026 +7
I wonder how Ella Bleu Travolta got the role, must have been a rigorous casting process 🙄
7
rgregan Apr 2, 2026 +2
That's a title EDIT: My knee jerk reaction was WTF is that. Now that I have looked at the article AND knowing Travolta's history with flying, I probably should have guessed what that was

TriNel81 Apr 2, 2026 +2
Good luck to the massage parlors in the area. Scientology will be in touch.

The Michael Phenomenon is happening
1
supercoolpartydude Apr 2, 2026 +1
He’s always loved flying/aviation and this sounds like his love letter to it. I can get behind that. Sort of like Martin Scorsese with Hugo, passion projects made with love tend to work better.
1
crackrabbit012 Apr 2, 2026 +2
I haven't thought about Travolta in so long I legit forgot he has a pilots license. I have respect for his talents, but I've never really been a fan. Still I hope he at least had fun making it.
2
COHERENCE_CROQUETTE Apr 2, 2026 +1
Based on this picture, John Travolta would be a terrific casting choice for TF2's Heavy Weapons Guy.
1
Javerage Apr 3, 2026 +1
It better start with the pilot asking the passengers if they like Limp Bizkit.
1
whitepangolin Apr 2, 2026 +1
Sounds wickedly talented.
