This is the second Duggar brother to be arrested with child sex crimes.
It looks like the abuse happened while his wife was pregnant.
The victim was 9 years old at the time.
Horrifying.

They also view all “sexual immortality” as equal.
Things that are sexually immoral include thinking too hard about naked girls, watching normal p***, having sex outside of marriage.
In addition to molesting kids or watching csam.
They also train their girls to be obedient to men. They drill it into their girl’s heads that women were created by God to specifically be “helpers” to men. Imagine you’ve been taught from birth that you were born to be someone else’s sidekick. You are literally taught your existence is not your own. To be anything else is a sin. Imagine the kind of entitlement that gives men who grow up in that.

And they always blame the females...remember the older girls saying Nike so the boys would look down to avoid looking at a women in what they considered revealing clothes. The Duggar girls had to wear pants under their dresses to keep their brothers from lusting...they wore long skirts and pants when they went swimming. I mean any child that grows up in such a sexually oppressive situation is going to have some kind of thing about sex going on. Plus, they blame the female...she made me do it...that little girl with the pigtails made me do it. How sick.

The Duggars are in the IBLP cult, which sends out homeschooling material. One of them is about teaching women to avoid “eye catches” when dressing themselves. The assignment is to look at drawings of very conservatively dressed women and circle the “eye catches.”
One of them I remember being a woman with a shin-length skirt, long sleeved shirt, flat shoes and a scarf. The “eye catch” was the slit in her skirt that went up to just above her knee.
Growing up on that, it’s not surprising that their parents respond like “yes your brother molested you, but you showed too much skin, so you both sinned.”
These kinds of people are a bigger voting block than Muslims btw. And hold waaaaay more positions in government. These are the people protecting legal child marriage. They have a literal conspiracy to take over the government by training their sons to be politicians, which we are now seeing the effect of. Josh was meant to be one of those politicians.

Honestly this is a kinda massive problem in evangelical churches.
You don't hear about it like with the Catholic church because it's not a big interconnected shuffling them around thing, but if you Google "Youth Pastor Arrested"there's new ones all the time.
There's been youth pastors who literally gave out "I ❤️ hot youth pastors" stickers to their congregants (Cory Wall)
There's been youth pastors cheered at their church when they admitted to pressuring an underage girl to please him (Andy Savage)
Those are just ones I've kinda memorized, there's tons of other examples.
I honestly suspect it's why they try to make trans people and drag queens out to be predators, so that people don't look at how much more at risk their kids are at church than at a drag show.

It's to literally beat the concepts of curiosity and independent thought out of them. The man who invented this method, Michael Pearl, brags that if he told his adult children to jump out the window of a moving car, they would do it without hesitation or question.
The parents do verbally tell the child to stay on the blanket and tell them no when they start to crawl off (the first time), but this practice is meant to be started when children are 6 months old. We don't expect kids to consistently respond to the word "no" until 9-12 months.
But that's sort of the point. Michael Pearl knows a 6-month-old isn't going to obey verbal directions. The point is to associate curiosity/exploration/individual will with pain and fear. It's phobia indoctrination. Like the [Little Albert study](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Albert_experiment), but for freedom instead of rats.
29
Bisquick-Skill2845Mar 19, 2026

Splitting hairs:
That practice was originally from Michael and Debi Pearl, a couple not involved with IBLP but followed by a lot of ATI families. They also used lengths of narrow tubing to swat infants for attempting to leave the blanket or grab a toy.

The oldest brother abused his sisters¹ before he was caught with CSAM². The state trooper family friend who was supposed to get Duggar counseling because of a plea deal (but decided he didn't need it) was caught with CSAM a few years after that³.
The children of that family grew up with this sort of thing happening and then being covered up.

There's video tours of their gigantic house back when they were on reality TV. The boys' bedroom was communal with all the beds together barracks style and with no sheets or blankets -- they slept in their normal "street" clothes. There were no doors on the bedroom or the bathroom. The reason, if you haven't figured out, was to prevent masturbating.
I used to lurk on r/FundieSnarkUncensored and ex-fundies dished a lot on how these families set things up to control their kids. It is fucked up.

In their world, "apologizing" (which consists of saying "I'm sorry I was tempted by that child's body, [but it's at least half their fault for tempting me, because all sexual activity is equally sinful]") is enough to absolve them of responsibility or consequences. It's how the parents handled Josh's molestation of his sisters.

Their "education" was this looping series of books you kept doing no matter your age and it would have questions like, "what is wrong with this girl?" And the answer was she was in shorts with her hair the wrong way and you were told yes. Women were always to blame for men's sexual urges and even kissing outside of marriage is wrong. Masturbating is sinful. They lived in rooms where thet didn't have private bedrooms.
Any act was forgivable via repenting.
So, the kids shared beds, they had no outside contact, they weren't allowed any outlet, they had no idea how to handle sexual impulses beyond total repression and quashing, women are responsible for men's desires, and any sins are forgiven if you apologetize. Besides, it was the woman's fault for tempting you. Your only sin was falling to temptation. But, wasn't she *equally* at fault for tempting you? She should repent, too.
And you wonder why they have deeply flawed children.

I know next to nothing about these guys.
But via simple math and statistics, at least 1-2 of those boys mollested some kids.
I... I don't think people really appreciate how widespread and commonplace this is. It's not just a billionaire problem, it's a "girls you sat next to on the bus endured this shit and you never knew" kinda problem.

Why is anyone surprised. These people literally raised their children to believe it is the responsibility of all females to not "tempt" males. The males were not responsible if something happened. Look who got blamed when Josh molested 4 of the girls. The dress code got worse and a f****** bell was put on their dorm room door. I can just hear Michelle saying "I bet she was wearing a bathing suit" and shaking her head and Jim Bob outraged not understanding why there's a problem with his son. Clearly it's the 9 year old girl and her mother's fault.

I keep asking myself, is it because the family was messed up, or is it that 2 out of 10 men are sexual predators? Maybe it’s just regular statistics. I don’t know. Maybe I’ve been naive most of my life, not realizing that 20% of men are disgusting assholes that want to r*** kids…
23
eldestdaughtersunionMar 19, 2026
+7
That sent me down a rabbit hole.
Rates of *true* pedophilia (primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent or early-pubescent children) are estimated to be under 5% in the general population. However, not all sexual predators are pedophiles. The FBI looks at two main profiles of child sexual abusers - loosely, the pedophile and the sadist. The sadist isn't attracted to children per se, but to power and/or violence, and children are easy targets. The sadist also typically sexually abuses adults as well. Among people convicted of child sex abuse, these groups are split about half and half.
So then my next question was - how many "sadist" types are out there? Studies of true sexual sadism probably aren't helpful here, because the "sadist" profile of child sex abusers isn't necessarily the same thing as a sexual sadist. (But if you're curious, rates of that are 5-40% depending on how the study defines sexual sadism.) It's probably more helpful to look at related behaviors, because the "sadist" type is very likely to commit other kinds of sexual/intimate violence.
So let's look at r***. When male college students were asked if they would commit r*** if they knew they would get away with it, 1 in 3 said "yes." Actually, 1 in 3 said they would "force a woman to have sex." Only 1 in 7 said yes when the word "r***" was used. Now, I doubt all of those men would prey on children given the opportunity. The question asked about women, not children. But it does paint a picture that for 14-33% of men, the only thing stopping them from committing sexual assault is the fear of consequences. But... that probably isn't stopping very many of them. One meta-analysis found that 25% of men admitted to sexually coercive behavior, 13% admitted to sexual assault, and 10% admitted to attempted r*** (though only about 5% admitted to completed r***).
There's a lot of overlap between child sexual abuse and intimate partner violence, especially for the "sadist" profile. Those men typically have adult relationships, and those relationships are typically abusive in some form. So we can also look at those statistics. [According to one Australian study](https://aifs.gov.au/sites/default/files/2025-05/Insights-Report-IPV-Chapter-1.pdf), over a third of men admitted to committing some form of IPV against a partner in their adult life, with emotional abuse being most common (32%), physical abuse next (9%), and sexual abuse being least common (2%). The numbers don't add up because a lot of men committed more than one form of abuse over the course of the study.
There's also overlap between [sexual violence/aggression and hiring prostitutes](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/281443339_Comparing_Sex_Buyers_With_Men_Who_Do_Not_Buy_Sex_New_Data_on_Prostitution_and_Trafficking), at least for US samples, so we can look at that. American men who hire prostitutes are significantly more likely to self-report willingness to commit r*** or a history of committing sexually violent acts. In the US, roughly 15% of men have hired a prostitute in their adult lives.
So while I can't find any specific numbers on how many men are sexual predators of children, looking at related indicators of sexually violent behavior.... 20% sounds about right. At the very least, these statistics suggest that roughly a third of men are potentially dangerous to women and/or children. And if you put men like that in a culture where sexual violence is normalized - so they aren't likely to experience consequences for it - it stands to reason that you'd get more of this kind of behavior. In fact, it seems likely that 20% is on the low side for a community like this. There are probably more predators among the Duggar sons.
And that's not just me talking, either. When all the Josh stuff was going on, Jim Bob Duggar (the patriarch of the family) said that incest and molestation are common in their community. (In a "it's no big deal, just boys being boys" way.) He may have just been attempting to minimize what Josh did, but based on what we now know about the IBLP cult, he was probably telling the truth.
