The headline seems to be making a bigger deal out of this than it is: >Often, when groups of interview guests are slated to join the show, select View cohosts will leave the table to allow them more room. >Entertainment Weekly has learned from a source close to the situation that the move was a "production decision" as a result of three interview subjects being seated at the table with the cohosts. So I don't watch The View, but it sounds like it's normal for some co-hosts to leave when they interview a group of guests at once. Not saying that Carrie Underwood performing for Trump didn't play into Joy's decision but it's not like Joy isn't on there anytime they bring on other Trump supporters.

I can see her leaving since she was such a vocal Biden supporter. She was an advocate for Biden to skip the primary process altogether in 2020

I can also see her leaving because they wanted to make room at the table for the three people they were interviewing, so Joy and another co-host left while the interview with the American Idol judges happened and then they returned once it ended. You know, what the article mentions happened.

I hope she took a trip over to crafty and had a nice snack.

Yes. I'm implying she probably volunteered to leave

Probably a producer decision as to whose conducting the interview and not Joy’s

Also normal for Behar to be a bit of a drama Queen.

Sure, I don't disagree with that assessment, but even the article mentions this is something they often do when interviewing multiple guests at once. The article itself has no information that Carrie Underwood performing for Trump played into Joy not being there, it's entirely speculative because Joy criticized her over a year ago about it and then was not part of the interview(along with another View co-host) with the American Idol judges, one of which is Carrie. It appears to be making up drama for clicks.

I concur.

I mean, if she had chosen to leave the table to spite Carrie Underwood that wouldn't be dramatic, since they shouldn't be platforming her to begin with.

Good for Joy! I think all decent Americans should ostracize all Trumptards--even the ones in their own family. Those people are letting a demented madman ruin our country.

Especially the ones in their own family.

My outspoken progressive feminist sibling is in her third LTR with a Trumper (I’m gay) and when she complains about him I don’t know what to say anymore.  I come from a left wing family and it’s my fellow millennials who have inundated us with Trumpers via their dating and marriage choices. I’ve stopped attending a lot of family holidays but it sucks that I lose home over them.

She doesn't sound very feminist in that scenario. Maybe tell her that?

This is such an interesting dynamic. I think, in the future, there will be new cottage industries built solely upon the impact of Trump/MAGA on family relationships and mental health.

I know but we have to be strong. Supporting Trump is my red line. I don't believe in unconditional love and people get mad at me when I say that. I reply "everyone has a line." If my husband started slaughtering goats on our front porch, I'd leave him." So, yes, there is ALWAYS a line.

Damn, can't even celebrate Eid Al Adha in this household, smh.

I’m 81 and agree. Kari claims she’s a Christian, yet loves a man who ties up children’s and rapes them? Love thy neighbor? Trump hates thy neighbor. Feed the poor? Nope against republicans rules. Adultery? Kari approves? Kari also approves of presidents banging p*** stars and cheating on all 3 of his immigrant wives? Kari u were my number 1. What happened to you? Have you always been on the dark side? Supporting felon’s, rapists and warmongers, who also spread dangerous propaganda? I’m do disappointed in you.

Ostracize AND don't allow them in your presence.

More should boycott this trumper.

Underwood said she did it for patriotism and unity, but Trump is not a patriot, his interests lie in himself. His supporters mistake nationalism, or the desire to impose their way of life on others, as patriotism. Singing for his inauguration legitimizes bigotry, divisiveness, and zealotry. There is no excuse, no matter how Underwood tries to explain it.

She's trying to Garth Brooks it. But when Garth sang at Biden's inauguration (the one Veruca Trump was too cowardly to attend) it did seem like a genuine attempt to promote peace.

I agree

Much ado over nothing. If the case was to avoid MAGA people,  you'd think Whoopi would be the one to leave.

Carrie is sporting the mar a lago face!

So it was either a production decision to allow the guest more room at the table or it was Joy being a mature adult and excusing herself from a conversation she knew she couldn’t be objective in. Either way, how is this a story? I’m sure if Joy had stayed and bit her tongue, the article would be about how “Joy Behar left speechless when confronted by Carrie Underwood”. Almost like the only way for Joy to prevail is to abandon her beliefs and accept Tangerine Jesus as her new lord and savior on National TV. C’mon Joy, the Mean Girls articles will continue until morale improves.

Good for her. Hard to look these dumbasses in the eye. Especially when they see nothing wrong still with how shit of a job Trump is doing.

The objectivity on the view is certainly in its own class.

I would feel no need to meet Carrie Underwood. I’d sit this one out too.

Country singers are MAGA? Say it isn't so!

It is so funny to me when hosts walk out of their own show. I am also not a fan of Joy and her bs virtue signaling, so it completely makes sense.

MindfulMewtwo989 Mar 24, 2026 -12
They probably planned it just to have overblown reactions for views

If you read the article, it says it’s common to have one of the hosts leave the set when they have guests to make more room for the actual interviewers. They apparently do it often. Whole article and headline is a big nothing burger
