>When Rosenblum’s supervising attorney interjected, Quraishi accused him of trying to “blindside” the court and ordered him to leave or risk being removed by court security officers. >The judge vented his frustrations as he was preparing to sentence a man for possessing child sexual abuse material — a case that he said had been compromised by a “sloppy investigation” and the U.S. attorney’s office’s haste to reach a plea agreement. The sentencing was rescheduled. Not content to protect pedophiles in high places, the administration is even f****** up by accidentally protecting the lower castes of child sex predators. >The judge also questioned the judgment of prosecutors to reach a plea agreement with the defendant in the child sexual abuse material case before the FBI had finished searching his electronic devices. The plea agreement calls for a “significantly lower” sentence than prescribed by federal sentencing guidelines, Quraishi said. I guess that's one way to get more ICE agents.

Going to be an absolute shame when he reoffends in the following years after his light sentence. I feel so bad for the children

They’re already blaming the judge because he was appointed by Biden.

>TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Vexed by the Justice Department’s chaotic oversight of federal prosecutions in New Jersey, a judge on Monday threw a government attorney out of a hearing and ordered the three officials in charge of the state’s U.S. Attorney’s office to answer his questions under oath. > U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi lit into prosecutors after another judge ruled last week that the Trump administration’s decision to replace interim U.S. Attorney Alina Habba with a trio of officials was another violation of the Constitution’s Appointments Clause, which requires Senate confirmation. > The officials, Philip Lamparello, Jordan Fox and Ari Fontecchio, have remained in charge pending an appeal. > Quraishi quizzed Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosenblum about his office’s current management structure and whether Habba, a Justice Department senior adviser, has any role in running the office, which she has denied. >**“You have lost the confidence and the trust of this Court,” Quraishi told Rosenblum during a tense 22-minute hearing. “You have lost the confidence and the trust of the New Jersey legal community, and you are losing the trust and confidence of the public.”** > The New York Times reported on the judge’s remarks and posted a transcript of the proceeding to its website. > **Chad Gilmartin, a spokesman for the Justice Department, told the Times: “Unfortunately some judges are more interested in courtroom theatrics and constitutional overreach than promoting public safety. It is an especially troubling moment when a court chooses to sideline a case involving child exploitation.”** Oh that's f****** *rich* coming from the Epstein administration. >Lamparello, Fox and Fontecchio, referred to by the judge and in court records as “the triumvirate,” have remained in charge because the judge who ruled to bar them, Matthew Brann, paused the decision from taking immediate effect to give the government time to appeal. >But, Brann wrote in his 130-page opinion, “a stay cannot validate an unlawful appointment” and that “If the Government chooses to leave the triumvirate in place, it does so at its own risk.” >“Here is your risk. This is your risk,” said Quraishi, who was appointed in 2021 by President Joe Biden, a Democrat. > **The judge said he didn’t believe Rosenblum’s claim that Lamparello, Fox and Fontecchio were still in charge and that no one else, such as Habba, was influencing the office’s decision making.** > **Quraishi said he wouldn’t believe anything federal prosecutors told him until the three officials testify before him in Trenton on May 4. If their answers aren’t satisfactory, the judge said he may summon Habba and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, the Justice Department’s second-in-command, to testify.** Highly encourage everyone to read what I quoted here. It's basically the whole article, but it lays out all the fuckery that happened in this entire case. Also, I'm not sure if the AP editorial team has a standing order to include the judge's political affiliation for article like this, but it seems like they're trying to imply something when quoting that he was appointed by Biden. It feels like they are implying that the judge can't be impartial towards all of this because of who appointed him. Although, I think they usually include the political affiliation for things like this, even when they're a Republican, and the AP is certainly not pro-Trump.

What's even crazier is them claiming he is sidelining the case.  He is clearly pissed off the plea agreement BY THE PROSECUTORS was made for a sentence lower than the guidelines and before the FBI finished its investigation, which found even more child p***.  The gaslighting will continue until no one questions...

Classic DARVO move right there. Guess they've been learning from Trump.

bernard_wrangle Mar 18, 2026 +9
They pretty much always list who appointed a judge in these kinds of articles. The fact that Biden appointed him doesn’t invalidate anything he said, but it does provide some context that he is a more liberal leaning judge. If this were a borderline case, it might make a difference and leaving that detail out could seem suspicious - “Oh, the fake media won’t tell you it was a Biden judge.” etc etc.

He’s not even very democrat leaning. He ruled multiple times against New Jerseys strict gun control laws.

And the last paragraph drives home the point: > “It was a sloppy investigation where, while you executed a plea agreement, the FBI uncovered significantly more child p********** that you couldn’t charge and now you’re stuck with a plea agreement because you’re bound by it,” Quraishi said. If the defendant takes the plea, anyone hurt he causes after release is on the hands of these sloppy prosecutors.

A_Nonny_Muse Mar 19, 2026 +5
At some point, we will have to declare the trump administration an illegitimate presidency, fire all the prosecutors who went along with him and his pro-corruption, pro-pedo policies, and re-prosecute everyone they let go and/or pardoned. Of course, we're going to have a real problem when it comes to paying reparations for the illegitimate "wars" in Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba. (and hopefully no one else) And that's all in addition to un-redacting the Epstein files, releasing everything this administration hid, and prosecuting everyone involved. Honestly, the next three administrations are going to have their hands full just setting the past right. They will hardly have any time left to manage the country moving forward.

What's even more galling is that Gilmartin's statement will get all the play on Fox, OANN, etc., and ignore the judge's admonishment... "The judge also questioned the judgment of prosecutors to reach a plea agreement with the defendant in the child sexual abuse material case before the FBI had finished searching his electronic devices. The plea agreement calls for a “significantly lower” sentence than prescribed by federal sentencing guidelines, Quraishi said. “It was a sloppy investigation where, while you executed a plea agreement, the FBI uncovered significantly more child p********** that you couldn’t charge and now you’re stuck with a plea agreement because you’re bound by it."

Armlessbastard Mar 19, 2026 +6
Yikes, this is so bad. The judge is pissed that this guy is going to get some light sentence because of this ineptitude. '1/3rd of the advised guidlines' - seems bad as a non-lawyer. Also, I assume those guidelines may not even be including the evidence the FBI was still collecting!
6
MrBarraclough Mar 19, 2026 +6
Correct. The guidelines would be calculated based simply on the evidence for the offense to which the defendant pled guilty. The guidelines have provisions for what are called "downward departures" where the sentence imposed is below the range recommended by the guidelines. That gives judges some discretion to adjust sentences to fit the circumstances of individual cases, even where there is no plea agreement. And the mere fact of a downward departure is not unusual, especially in a plea agreement. But 1/3rd of the bottom of the guidelines range? That's a ***huge*** departure. That cannot happen without the government agreeing to it. Normally, that large of a reduction might arouse suspicion that the government was tacitly acknowledging that it had a low chance of successfully proving its case at trial. I get the distinct impression that the judge doesn't see any obvious defects in the government's case and wants to know why the hell are they making this weirdly favorable deal.

Chad Gilmartin, a spokesman for the Justice Department, told the Times: “Unfortunately some judges are more interested in courtroom theatrics and constitutional overreach than promoting public safety. It is an especially troubling moment when a court chooses to sideline a case involving child exploitation.” That is rich. Maybe deliver that message to Bondi.
20
newhunter18 Mar 19, 2026 -13
May be rich, but this judge also had one of his injunctions on this very subject against the DOJ overturned by an appeals court as judicial overreach and interference with the Executive Branch. Two things can be true at the same time.
