I was looking forward to discovery before this was tossed out. That would have been an embarrassing mess that would have certainly lost him his job.

It's becoming more and more apparent that this admin is purposely filing lawsuits they know will be thrown out so they can clip farm on the news.

They're called SLAPP lawsuits and they're already illegal. Problem is that nobody is holding any of them to account

It's possible he thought this would go like how Trump's lawsuits go. It's the kind of logic someone boozy, arrogant and stupid would follow. Of course the clip farming is a constant with Ka$h but I can't imagine him wanting a public loss like that. He's kind of low on wins (has he had any??) and big orange is getting sick of his shit. He's high on the list for next shit canning so the last thing he wants is to be a loser in daddy's eyes (I'm going to vomit now) cuz he hates losers (sure knows how to pick em though)

They also want to scare anyone new from saying bad things about them

This isn't the case that made the news recently, which is against the Atlantic magazine.

I hope that one goes to trial. Just drag all of Patel's dirty laundry out for all to see.

Oh, damn. You right. I didn’t even catch that. Which makes it even more arresting how many defamation cases he has going

Oh man I thought it was a little fast for that. I hope there is discovery.

The $250 million suit against The Atlantic is still pending, so we still have that opportunity.

PigFarmer1 1 day ago +17
Nah, we'll never see the discovery process in that case. People in the know are lining up to testify against Patel and he knows it.

You think that would get him fired? No no no.. trump will fire him not for gross misconduct, unbelievable incompetence, or open corruption. Trump will fire him for kissing his ass 2 seconds late.

Maybe we get him on the stand. That’s what got Bondi fired. She couldn’t lie well under oath. That embarrassed trump.

FYI this is separate from the newly filed suit against the Atlantic, but outcome will prob the same.

That’s exactly what Kash was hoping for too, and hopefully why the judge tossed it beforehand.

He may still yet lose his job, he is still making himself look like a fool on TV.

In legalese, the judge said “You’d have to be a f****** idiot to think that.” Literally. Legally. A f****** idiot.

Would expect the director of the nation's top law enforcement armed to at least know the basics of how our nation's laws work in cases like that.

"A person of reasonable intelligence and learning would not have taken his statement literally: that Dir. Patel has actually spent more hours physically in a nightclub than he has spent physically in his office building," The passive aggressiveness of that judge, lol.

Tibbaryllis2 1 day ago +4
Change that to, “spent more hours physically in a nightclub than he has spent physically in his office **while conscious**.” And suddenly I’m less sure if I’m suppose to take it literally or figuratively…

> when taken in context, cannot have been perceived by a person of ordinary intelligence as stating actual facts about Patel. Ah, that makes sense. No wonder Patel was having so much trouble understanding it.

""A person of reasonable intelligence and learning would not have taken his statement literally," wrote the judge, which is not to say that Patel didn't take it literally.

The whole "of ordinary-intelligence" basically rules out MAGA followers. They MAYBE have the combined IQ of a dead cockroach.

I predict that Patel will drop the Atlantic suit given that the author says she's getting more and more corroborating testaments since the story was published. Oh, and the story itself was more than damning enough. Ol' Kash is not going to allow the case to reach the discovery process... lol
11
Tibbaryllis2 1 day ago +3
If he drops it, or it gets tossed, the author needs to play the uno reverse and sue him for defamation for insinuating they reported falsehoods. For shits and giggle, offer him the out of a public apology and affirmation of the facts of the initial report.

Not that I am losing sleep over MSNBC's bottom line, but any insights on why the judge would not force Patel to pay the legal feees? Doesn't this just incentivize these suits?

Kash heard “toss one back” and thought the judge was meeting him for happy hour

Kashapp cancelled his subscription. He's an attorney and I have no idea what he is thinking filing against the Atlantic given this. He's going to get demolished in discovery, the Atlantic isn't some weird offbase online rag. They have a long track record and teams of attorneys that look at that they publish when it is sensitive. He should know this but hubris is a crazy thing.
10
PorygonTriAttack 2 days ago +7
I think he's an attorney who has zero experience working in the field. He's probably worse than a paralegal with 1+ years. That's not to demean the paralegals. It's an embarrassment that he's an attorney. Attorneys have a higher responsibility and this guy is incompetent. He thinks defamation is about tossing stuff he doesn't want to hear. This guy has been sniffing too much Trump glue.

Additional_Quiet2600 2 days ago +10
He thinks he's Trump. My estimation is it isn't just booze and rumors from Vegas clubs support that.

Anyone know where I can buy puts on the number of days Kash has left as director of the FBI?

Oh I hope his lawsuit against The Atlantic for reporting how drunk he is all the time does not get dismissed. The discovery alone will be amazing.

How damn drunk would you need to be to get called out instead of Kegsbreath?

When things like this happen, do the victims have legal recourse to recoup financial hardship from having to lawyer up?
