It’s honestly some of the best animated action you will ever watch. Mappa is the gold standard of action anime currently.

Of course they will, it’s been running for 30 years, with that much build up, there no ending that Oda could make that wont at least be shitted on by the vocal minority. The One Piece reveal will also be controversial.
12
Pnutz313Mar 28, 2026
+3
Based on popular theories on what the One Piece is, a weapon to destroy the Red Line to merge all the four seas into one ocean seems like the best one and least controversial. Feels like most people would be okay if that was the reveal.
3
FireZord25Mar 28, 2026

idk if a weapon like that made Roger and his crew laugh. It's either gonna be something wildly epic, or something potentially underwhelming for some people, while also being either funny and/or wholesome (also subjective).
2
Pnutz313Mar 28, 2026
The explanation is they laughed because they realized they arrived too early as Shirahoshi had not been born yet and she is one of the three ancient weapons required for the One Piece.

Ehh I think people will be mad regardless… the series has just been going on too long and letting people minds run wild. There’s no way you actually read the manga and believe this. With how many loose ends were left open, how many concepts and storylines were briefly introduced, and how abruptly the final fight ends — you believe it ended well? Wild
5
Replay1986Mar 28, 2026
-2
There's a lot you're responding to that I didn't say. The final fight was absolutely riddled with insane ass pulls, likely because there wasn't a way to write the MCs winning that wasn't said ass pull. Bunches of people randomly leveled up for no reason, because the plot needed them to. Things were introduced and not explained. I'm not saying that those things didn't happen.
But the ending - the actual conclusion of the story, not just of the final fight - is fine. Not great. Not GOAT. But it's fine. That's all I said.

The climax and ending is something they can totally expand on in the anime, whether as a movie or season of TV. Especially to tie into the sequel series (>!the original manga ends with the cast happily going back to their day and routine in Tokyo, but then Modulo later establishes that Tokyo has become a haunted wasteland as a direct consequence of the events of the previous series!<).

When the anime and manga both are have magnificent scenes that are enjoyable, having certain stuff happening off screen leaves a bad taste. I can make a nice burger, but if it just appears in front of me, it’s less satisfying that if I made it

1
KamakaziturtleMar 28, 2026
+3
The ending was rough to read, but honesty should be fine to watch. The issue with the end of the manga was more due to it's pacing. It's basically a giant fight that takes forever because every other page theres a full page of text explaining what happened, how cool and impressive it was, and for the first half a bunch of people then spending 2 pages reacting to it. It being translated into an animated fight where they can just go wild with it and do all that much faster will make it much less intrusive. Not to mention based off where this current season, it's probably going to not be an entire arc like it is in an anime.
For what it's worth, the culling game in general was pretty meh in the manga as well, with some good moments sprinkled in. The Anime did a good job in making some of the parts that are slogs feel a lot better paced.
3
SimoneNonvelodicoMar 28, 2026
+1
To be fair, the anime genuinely improves on many things. One of the biggest problems with the manga was how much the final arc dragged out with chapter after chapter of mindless action, and how hard to understand some things were (in one case it almost felt like one whole chapter worth of storyboards was forgotten because things looked like they didn't follow at all). An adaptation has the chance to significantly improve pacing and choreography issues like those.

The whole ending was really badass, I have no idea what people want with endings like they’re never happy. Naruto war arc is probably my favorite arc in animanga ever yet people still find a way to try to shit on it lol
1
Wrong-Vermicelli4723Mar 28, 2026
+5
I mean… I don’t want to get in a Naruto argument but in my opinion Naruto war arc isn’t good. that has less to do with the ending and more to do with the overall arc.. though I’m also of the opinion that Shippuden outside of a few arcs is a mess in general
I agree that some people don’t seem to be satisfied regardless of the ending.. JJK ending is decent in my opinion. However a lot of these people won’t be satisfied regardless of the ending.
5
SchwiliinkerMar 28, 2026
-3
I don’t really think having subjective issues with the war arc in general changes much when it’s pretty undeniably like top 5 craziest arcs in animanga. It’s the price that had to be paid in a way. But regardless that’s definitely the most perfect way to end it in my opinion
-3
Wrong-Vermicelli4723Mar 28, 2026
+1
We will have agree to disagree on the war arc being good or top 5 anything.
My point is people dislike for the War arc started way before the ending. From my understanding people issue with JJK was the actual ending and not the last arc… unless I got that wrong. Either way I thought JJK ending worked , don’t really understand what people were expecting (outside of Gojo low diffing everyone)
1
SchwiliinkerMar 28, 2026
What I’m saying is I don’t think the Naruto war arc or Sukuna vs everyone (and Gojo) or TYWB being really epic and top tier is debatable at all. So I’d say any specific criticisms or complaints people may have doesn’t take away from that at all
If it was so easy to write a crazy ass story with no flaws people would like actually do it lol

The ending >!is trash, imo, but the animation will benefit from not being an asspull fest with maybe 3 good sequences amongst what felt like too many last-sec matchups that all dragged over what, a 2 year+ serialization? It will be contained in a movie or season dump that will coverup a lot of the knife twist that the manga drops were.!<

I really really enjoyed it, the art direction has skyrocketed in quality. Each scene is just interesting and has something going on.
They experiment with everything, like pacing both fast by having non telegraphed things happen that just and to the sense of danger and speed to even things being slowed down a bit like an entire dialogue scene from one static view allowing them to focus on body animation to really convey the exchange.

It's a shame that (outside of the recent movie) DS never really reached that height again, partly due to the manga content and partly due to Ufotable just not allocating staff as they did back during the entertainment district arc.
Outside of movies, it seems like the only hope to see something similar again from Ufotable in Tv, is from the Genshin anime. Which, if rumours are to be believed, will have a higher production level than Demon Slayer.

AOT would’ve always looked different. The people who worked on AOT are not the same people currently working on JJK. Mappa is one of the largest animation companies in Japan and has many sub pipelines. And Mappa especially has many freelancers who work for only a few episodes or two like the one who did this week’s domain expansion sequence was a French artist who just had his first time in the industry. And shows are also stylized and storyboarded heavily by the director making even MAPPA shows under similar teams look and feel wildly different.
All that said yes Mappa needed more time for AOT. S4 part 1 was like made in less than a year and it showed while the final specials being made loner showed just how well they cooked. Considering no studio wanted to touch AOT after Wit dropped I think Mappa still did amazing regardless and their CG was lowkey far better than Wit could ever do. Their Rumbling looked unreal

I think what I like about this as opposed to a more plot heavy show like Attack on Titan is that the universe has hard set rules that inform those fights. So for instance, a common trope in anime is characters explaining what their technique or power or whatever is, as a way for the audience to know what is going on. A fun little twist in JJK is that it’s explained that in this specific universe, explaining your technique to your opponent increases the strength of that technique. So it’s that kind of creative rule making and world building that I really like about the series. It’s like a clever trick to avoid breaking the 4th wall. I can tell a lot of thought went into the series and that makes it fun!

Like any action story, the story itself is never that big of a deal.
What makes a good action story is the characters and how they convey their emotions via the action.
Looking at some of these comments about how they talk about these action stories arcs being ‘thin’ makes me think they’ve never seen one in their life lol.

Culling game arc not as good as Shibuya arc but Mappa still cooked with the animation

Perfect Preparation was breathtaking. I watched that probably 5 times back-to-back it looked so good.

I don’t think the story falls off. Shibuya incident is a gorgeously animated arc and is a fantastic piece of story telling.

The first half of this statement is right. Calling the Shibuya Incident a "fantastic piece of story telling" is a stretch and a half though. The entire arc is 95% fighting, with like 5% of characters acting shocked. It is honestly one of the most narratively thin story arcs I've ever come across.

All the fights have crazy consequences though (except for the grasshopper)

Maybe if you only care about the human character development. The curses were rapidly being expended on.

Yuji gets character development though. Which becomes a major plot point multiple times down the line.

Shibuya has like 3 status quo changes in 1 night. It has stakes, xonsequences, you watch every episode and think 'ain't no way this is happening'

JJK is really only worth watching if you want to see cool fights. If your interest lies in story or characters, look elsewhere.

No matter what u think about the characters writing wise, the majority of them are unique and interesting to follow

Could not disagree more lol
For me it's the opposite, I struggle to find any of the characters unique or interesting. I think the story and characters are nonsense/weak af but continue to watch because of great action scenes.

Not as strong as the Shibuya Arc but the fall off doesn't happen this season or maybe next season.
There's a definite shift and I don't know how they'll do the last arc.

JJK story was always mid.
It'll wrap up fine but nothing special like a lot of popular shonen.

I was skeptical because the manga didn’t have all of that extra battle flashiness that Japan tends to hate and then I remembered that from a certain upcoming point on it’s just one long fight lmaoooooo. I hope Japan is ready.

Being a huge FF nerd I was pretty thrilled to see the homage for Squall. All he was missing was the scar across his forehead
About halfway through I was still on the fence on whether it was a coincidence or not, but the moment his hair drops down I was like “yup this dude is a FF8 fan”

i gotta say i treated this show as indistinguishable as chainsaw man, kind of overpowered people doing crazy battles ... and i thought not much was special ...
with the heinous handling of one punch man, i kind of was left with only mob psycho 100 being standout, that said this season of jujutsu had completely changed my thoughts, it's a masterwork of direction ... i kind of still dunno what's going on and the rules explanation epsiode (while good looking) was one of the single worst shows i've ever watched for anime, the series has been incredible this season i didn't think they would get beyond that one woman revenge show but it's been unbelievable great
