Goddammit I hate when shit like this happens...a truly awful shitty person who is morally reprehensible joins a TV show I enjoy. I'm so intolerant of assholes and c***s now I dont know if I'll keep watching.

No. Did you forget about the genocide?

Hamas' own statistics don't support their claims of genocide. However their actions on October 7th were an act of genocide.
Take a look at Darfur to see what genocide actually looks like.

> Hamas' own statistics don't support their claims of genocide.
No idea what you mean by “Hamas’ own statistics” and since you’re being very vague about it, you’re almost certainly wrong. But go ahead. Show me these statistics that show there isn’t a genocide. I’ll wait…and please show me the part of the law that says you need a certain statistical level for it to be considered genocide. Thanks! Look forward to discussing this.
>However their actions on October 7th were an act of genocide.
So killing less than a thousand civilians is genocide but killing, say, 35k isn’t? Is that because Palestinian lives count less to you?
>Take a look at Darfur to see what genocide actually looks like.

The real context is h******* black church folk are brainwashed to hate Jews - very real, and as dumb as the claims are (Jews eat children, control the world, etc)… there’s a lot dumber people willing to believe it

tbh she has played 2 of my fav tv characters of all time but also she’s like… famously shitty so 🫤
also isn’t she like famously expensive?? kinda shocked hulu has the money lmfao

>also isn’t she like famously expensive??
I think that was mostly just her insisting on being paid the same rate to appear on The Good Fight as she was on The Good Wife.
I don’t know enough about the tv business to know how reasonable or unreasonable that demand was, but just hearing the way she talked in interviews makes me think it was the latter.
25
Toby_O_Notoby4 days ago
+5
I'm sure about her specific case, but I could see why she was asking that.
Basically, if a show is on air for more than three years everyone gets to renegotiate their salary. The studio lowballs you at first but after three years, you've proven you can make a hit, so now they have to start paying you more.
But! If the show is a spinoff or a reboot, the studio gets to treat it like it's Year One, and you get lowballed again. (Ever wonder why all Disney shows change their names after three years, like "Hannah Montana" becoming "Hannah Montana Forever"? That's why.)
So it looks like Julianna was saying she wanted to be paid the same for her hit show as for the spin-off. Which frankly goes to the spirit of the contract, if not the letter. After all, no one makes a spin-off of a flop, so she's proven she can make a hit and thinks she should get paid accordingly.
5
Senators_19923 days ago
+8
Except The Good Fight wasn’t her show - this was about what she expected to be paid as a guest star on The Good Fight.
8
Toby_O_Notoby3 days ago
+3
Even so, it's her perogative to ask for the money. If you were paid X to do one job it's not unreasobale to be ask for X to do the same job again.
If you were electrician getting $100 an hour to wire up an office no one would ding you for charging the same rate to do the bosses' beach home.
3
Khalku3 days ago
+4
She would have been a guest role though, and her perspective was basically "the good fight wouldn't exist without the good wife, so I deserve to get paid more"
4
Toby_O_Notoby3 days ago
+1
>her perspective was basically "the good fight wouldn't exist without the good wife, so I deserve to get paid more"
Which is a pretty reasonable take if you ask me. I mean, you either give the money to the person who made the show a hit or you give it to megaconglomorate CBS/Paramount. Personally I'd rather it go to the artist than the beancounter...

> I don’t know enough about the tv business to know how reasonable or unreasonable that demand was
It's wildly unreasonable.
An extreme example, but the Friends actors were making $1 million per episode by the end of the show. Imagine if they tried to get Courteney Cox to guest star on Joey and she demanded $1 million because that's what she was getting paid on Friends.
5
Senators_19923 days ago
+4
I think that’s the prevailing opinion. Just like if Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul had refused to appear on Better Call Saul because they weren’t getting the same rate as they were on Breaking Bad.
I mean, why would they be paid the same rate? It’s an entirely different show where they’re no longer the stars. They’re “guest” stars.

Well Hulu is Disney and Paradise has been Hulu's biggest award hopeful for the last cycle and hopefully for them this next one too. Knowing it has only one season left I am not too shocked they opened the pocket books a little more for talent.
28
Kyuubee4 days ago
+7
Pretty much the only awards this show can hope for are acting ones. The writing kills its chances everywhere else.
Look at season 1 - it didn't get nominated for anything at major awards besides acting.
7
TheWallE4 days ago
+5
I don't disagree, except for it also did get nominated for Best Drama, so not JUST acting.
But last year's haul of Drama, Actor, Supporting Actor + Actress is still pretty strong as far as the Studio is concerned. That's four main show categories, including the top prize. More than several of the bigger "prestige shows".
The point is more that Hulu sees the show as something that can get that sort of attention, so that plus the first season being a legit hit and the second season being well received... throwing some more money at the third and final season makes sense for the platform.
5
TalkinTrek4 days ago
+5
I don't even think this is a prestige show. I love it but that's just not the category I would put it in, those expectations would be off.
5
TheWallE4 days ago
+7
Ohh I agree, that's specifically why I noted it performed better in the Emmy Noms than several bigger "Prestige Shows"... Paradise is closer to a network drama than a prestige show.

Was it ever on the rails? Granted I quit early in S2, but it was clearly written as the young hotshot reporter coming in to be an anchor, and the hotshot was played by a 45-year old Reese Witherspoon who had bought the script to star in it herself. It didn't work, ever.

Oh, that racist Zionist lady who was allegedly shitty to the South Asian cast member of The Good Wife, such that it derailed that character’s storyline and TGW’s final season*? No thanks.
*she allegedly refused to shoot shared scenes together, which meant the use of a split green screen for the South Asian actor’s (iirc) final scene in the series since the Zionist lady was in it.

Nothing really alleged about it. There’s tons of evidence both circumstantial and otherwise that point to her being the agitator in the Archie Punjabi situation. Gillian Anderson said Punjabi was one of the most gracious performers she ever worked with. Margulies may be a good actor but that doesn’t mean she can’t be an insufferable diva. I’m with Dana Scully on this.

She was pretty sketchy towards black people after BLM. Her Zionism advocacy involved being racist towards black people iirc (not dissimilar to how that Will and Grace actress and Amy Schum3r are racist towards Muslims as part of their Zionism advocacy… Mess!ng iirc connected 9/11 to Zohran Mamdani even though he was 10yo or sth). Plus, She also took shots at LGBTQ people who were anti-all the murdering (iirc in a “you wouldn’t survive in Gaza under Hamas!” sort of way).

lol, i wrote that before I edited. As for my edits: all I did was name the actresses, add extra details eg the Zohran Mamdani example and restructure for clarity. The substance of my comment remains the same, but you presumably take offence at a comedic caricature-style reference of miss piggy bc I didn’t remember the racist comedian’s name 🙄
Tell me you’ve never seen a caricature before. The only time a caricature is problematic is if it’s racist/bigoted - referring to a muppet character isn’t that. Get off your high horse.
