ITT: People not realizing that Johnson has dedicated *all* of the films to Robin Williams. If we’re being cynical, we can say he’s just being a shill, but I see no reason to believe this very simple gesture can’t be genuine.

LilPonyBoy69 Mar 31, 2026 +378
Jack Black also dedicated this one to Robin

So Karen Gillan is really the one we should be mad at. WHY DO YOU HATE ROBIN, KAREN?!
325
HooliganBeav Mar 31, 2026 +114
It's because of Genie. Karen has had some bad experiences with large, purplish-blue beings that can warp reality.

They had a little Easter egg in the first one. Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough lived in an open air house built by Alan Parrish, the character played by Williams in the original film.

“This is Alan Parrish’s house. I’m just living in it.”

I did the Leo DiCaprio pointing finger snapping meme when that popped up in the film, then had to explain it to the people I was watching with who just sort of shrugged. Sad.

Well the Timothée Chalamet comments and the Chapell Roan bodyguard controversy have both died down, so listnookors need a new thing to get their panties in a twist about.

Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +90
This sub really isn’t a fan of The Rock. And to be fair, he went pretty damn overboard with the carefully constructed public persona *and* was charging obscene amounts of money to tweet in support of his own films, based on the notion that he alone had humongous pull, so it was pretty easy to want to see him taken down a notch.
90
silvertwo777 Mar 31, 2026 +87
Both all these things seem like nothing burger to me honestly, pretty standard celebrity stuff. On the other hand Brad Pitt who beat the c*** out of his children still gets ton of support and worship.
87
Ok_Pause2547 Mar 31, 2026 +37
it makes no sense to me, the guy grinds to make his money and really has no controversies. Sure, he plays the same character and does the same corny big blockbusters but if they’re offering him the role, why should he say no lol. Lots of other shitty human beings in the industry and the rocks worst sin is being in every major shitty movie. I get that he’s too “clean” but the guy is obviously in it for the money and doing whatever it takes to protect it.
37
knwnasrob Mar 31, 2026 +18
I figured people are just still sore with him over Black Adam lol.
18
banshoo Mar 31, 2026 +8
But the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe changed with that
8
WerewolfCurious1412 Mar 31, 2026 +4
To me, the movie is ok, but I always hated that he didn’t go full bad guy. He needed to go full bad guy for this one movie, then flip it for part 2.
4
ChiefLeef22 Mar 31, 2026 +15
100%. Like I'm not calling for cancelling one person or the other, but it really is telling how many actual abusers and downright deplorable people there are in the industry, who are still darlings of everyone online. But the worst crime you can commit as an actor is being "cringe", apparently
15
Yemenime Apr 1, 2026 +5
Listnook is full of contrarians and miserable losers who like to hate and b**** and whine in order to feel superior and self-righteous. He became the most popular, highest paid actor in the world for a while and that's the biggest sin you can do with regards to listnook. Being popular. The entire internet is full of that, really.
5
CitizenTony Apr 1, 2026 +4
Sadly it's the truth.
4
CitizenTony Apr 1, 2026 +2
> Sure, he plays the same character and does the same corny big blockbusters but if they’re offering him the role, why should he say no lol. Strangely, many years ago people wouldn't bat an eye when every actors were playing themselves (Clint Eastwood, Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy, Sylvester Stallone etc) And Dwayne Johnson is using the same pop corn formula as the MCU for example, and people in the sub don't care about the Marvel formula but for The Rock it's a problem.
2
Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +17
Totally agreed. As for Pitt, some of the goodwill is definitely due to the fact that he’s still very good-looking and still making movies that range from good to great, but also people seem to condemn others more for demonstrating a sustained pattern of behavior—like Weinstein or Spacey—as opposed to a single drunken outrage. And don’t get me wrong, Pitt’s behavior, according to Jolie’s testimony about that day, is *horrifying* and absolutely unacceptable. But I think a lot of people are waiting to see if that’s the defining moment of his life or if it’s the worst moment of his life. So him getting sober and not re-offending goes a long way.
17
silvertwo777 Mar 31, 2026 +23
It's more than one single drunken outrage. You left out the fact that all his children changed their surname away from Pitt the moment they could legally as an adult and want nothing to do with him is very telling.
23
Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +7
Was it? I only recall the incident on the plane, which prompted the divorce and the kids choosing Jolie. And I left out the fact that his kids want nothing to do with him because that came *as a result* of the actions I was referring to. It’s a consequence of his bad actions, not another sin to list or outrageous action on his part.
7
chodi-foster Mar 31, 2026 +10
Yo all of you people know waay too much about these f****** celebrities lol
10
noisypeach Apr 1, 2026 +2
The internet runs on memes. It's easy to meme about the Rock with the "hierarchy of power" thing about Black Adam. It's harder to make quick, easy memes about a man who's an abusive father/husband. So Brad gets no mentions but people will endlessly repeat the same lines about the Rock. It's the same reason why any time Gal Gadot gets mentioned, the comments will be swarmed with "Kel El No!" memes. Not her politics, not anything about her as a person. Just a meme line. Cause that's all people have.

Jedbo75 Mar 31, 2026 +13
I’m a fan of the Rock. He’s a walking charisma factory who is perfectly suited for his role as the world’s biggest movie star. He’s shameless in his self-promotion to the point that it comes off as genuine, at least to me. His “mask” is so obvious as to not even be a mask. People knock him because he’s a blockbuster star who came from a wrestling background, but I mean, somebody has to be an action star, right? His wrestling career gave him years of acting and improv experience in front of live audiences of millions, and served as the kind of training very few actors ever get, with Cena and Bautista following suit. When the Rock hosts SNL, for instance, he often has more live improv experience than most of the cast combined, and it shows. He was the heart of that Robo-Chomo sketch, and for my money, it’s one of the best in the last couple of decades. He is an action star evolved, with chops that Arnold, Sly, and Van Damme never had. He can sing. He can do family stuff, action, heavy drama. I’ve always smelled what this dude is cookin’. Love him.
13
Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +7
The Robo-Chomo sketch is one of my all-time favorites and from a time when The Rock wasn’t afraid to go dark and weird. Like Southland Tales, which I f****** LOVE.

6
EDDsoFRESH Mar 31, 2026 +2
Same way I don’t post corporate shit on my LinkedIn profile, I respect him for that and find it strange people would view that negatively. It’s his personal profile, not whoever published the Movie’s.
2
StuMacherGhostface Mar 31, 2026 +2
>This sub really isn’t a fan of The Rock. Try Listnook lol. But yeah, this sub specifically hates Rock no matter what he does. It's only a matter if time before we get a comment about how Cena and Batista are better actors than him

This December is absolutely f****** bonkers for movies
339
tenisplenty Mar 31, 2026 +120
Yeah I feel like there is no way that this movie doesn't underperform going up against Dune and Avengers. Most casual movie goers aren't going to have time to go see 3 or more movies around Christmastime.
120
Particular-Cat-1397 Mar 31, 2026 +119
The last two Jumanji movies have out grossed the last two Dune movies.
119
CptNonsense Apr 1, 2026 +43
Yeah, people out here pretending weird niche sci fi movies are trouncing legacy family fun sequels starring the Rock and Jack Black is some grade A chronically online nonsense listnook opinion Dune 2 actually made a ton of money, but The Next Level made even more and was way more forgettable than Welcome to the Jungle
43
Vergil229 Mar 31, 2026 +35
both came out pre-covid, not a fair comparison.
35
BigfootsBestBud Mar 31, 2026 +19
I think you’ll be surprised. Jumanji is a safe bet for families around that time who haven’t been keeping up with Marvel and haven’t watched Dune, especially since it’s less family friendly. Jumanji is just a safe standard movie you can watch with your family as a day and forget about immediately
19
ArchMart Mar 31, 2026 +43
If any of the 3 movies underperform, it won't be Jumanji.
43
cowpool20 Mar 31, 2026 +16
Out of those 3. It’s gonna be Dune that earns the least.
16
Ok_Pause2547 Mar 31, 2026 +4
I’d assume families with younger children are the target audience. Lots of parents who dont want their kids watching pg13 movies yet. Feel like people forget how huge that audience is and all the top streaming movies are kids movies. I mean box office wise, Jumanji 2 made more than Dune 2 and they have completely different audiences so I think they’ll be fine.
4
Dadpurple Mar 31, 2026 +2
The last two Jumani movies were PG-13.
2
Voteforbatman Mar 31, 2026 +15
It’s not a movie, but the Harry Potter HBO series also premieres on/around Christmas, just to add to the bonkers

299
Vinicius_Pimenta Mar 31, 2026 +84
Agreed. First one was good, second one was OK, they're just dumb fun movies
84
ItsTheExtreme Mar 31, 2026 +63
Totally. Kevin Hart doing Danny Glover as a zoologist always gets me in the second one. Good stuff.
63
loveheaddit Mar 31, 2026 +16
it's one of the few times i've actually seen him act, and he killed it. the rock was good at times but other times he seemed to forget who he was playing.
16
Antrikshy Mar 31, 2026 +6
Kevin Hart was great in the Netflix drama, True Story.
6
CptNonsense Apr 1, 2026 +7
The hate boner at least makes a nominal amount of sense with chronically online, navel gazing hacks. What *doesn't* make sense is the repeatedly asserted belief that **Dune** has a wider audience appeal than **Jumanji**
7
LeAnime Mar 31, 2026 +9
I was actually surprised that I have enjoyed these films, first I don’t like most films by the Rock outside of the Toothfairy and the Game Plan, and secondly Kevin Hart is just excruciatingly unfunny, but somehow these movies have been solid. Obviously nothing compared to the original, but totally suitable films.
9
LADYBIRD_HILL Mar 31, 2026 +4
The whole premise of having the actors play teenagers who are stuck in the actors bodies does a lot towards making these overexposed actors feel more interesting to watch. Kevin, Jack, and Dwayne all like to play themselves so it's nice to see them have to put the effort into actually developing a character. Karen Gillan is fantastic though. She elevates everything she's in, which I never would've expected after I got tired of her character in Doctor Who.
4
watlington Mar 31, 2026 +6
It's one of those things that wouldn't have gotten nearly the hate it has if it wasn't named after something beloved made before it, but I also doubt it would make as much money.
6
ChiefLeef22 Mar 31, 2026 +113
The Rock's message: "An official FINAL wrap on one of the most fun and pure creative joy experiences I’ve ever had in my entire career - the adventure of JUMANJI. I’m a grateful and lucky sob to have had a front row seat to witness this insanely talented cast showcase their comedy chops combined with heart and mana across this 10 year+ long adventure." "Cheers to my director, writer, collaborator, and friend Jake Kasdan. It’s been my privilege to be directed by you, as we’ve unearthed all these wild characters together in the world of JUMANJI." **"And lastly, to Robin Williams ~ this finale is for you." Johnson concluded. "The character of Dr Smolder Bravestone was my absolute honor to play in your spirit with the deepest respect, love and JOY.** In theaters CHRISTMAS DAY."

I think you could make a good case that Dune is worse off for going up against Jumanji than the other way around.

Yeah, 100 percent. Some families might be turned off by Dune. They might go watch this.

Why is it known as Jumanji 3 if they're sequels to Jumanji? Also Robin Williams died 3 years before Jumanji: WTTJ, why dedicate this one to him?
294
Caciulacdlac Mar 31, 2026 +122
Right? This should be Jumanji 4
122
rjmacready Mar 31, 2026 +121
It should be 5. Jumanji 2 was called Zathura.
121
TheChiliocosmic Mar 31, 2026 +37
The Juthura-verse needs more installments. I wanna see Jumanji at a Theme Park, or in Ancient Egypt, or a Pirate Ship or something. Why stop at jungle and space?
37
Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +19
Start writing you crazy sonuvabitch. And call the Egypt one an adaptation of the old kids’ book, The Egypt Game, to rope in that generation of young parents who likely read it in school. It’ll also help it sell better to the studio. I believe in you!
19
smr312 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Just try to avoid the twist being the old guy from the game is actually one of the kids playing the game. I remember being 13 in 2005 and immediately thinking "Ooh Dax Shepard is one of the kids."
3
Chemistry11 Mar 31, 2026 +5
Zathura is its own thing, tho - isn’t it? Not part of the same universe, just a completely similar idea. Also, it’s superior to Jumanji
5
Skellos Mar 31, 2026 +12
The book Zathura is a sequel to Jumanji The movie is unrelated
12
rjmacready Mar 31, 2026 +3
The book is a direct sequel, the movie was altered a bit story wise to be not as connected for whatever reason, ask Jon Favreau. Likely for marketing reasons. It is Jumanji 2 in all but name.
3
willstr1 Mar 31, 2026 +3
>the movie was altered a bit story wise to be not as connected for whatever reason, ask Jon Favreau I feel safe in assuming it was some sort of licensing or royalties thing. Like if they made it too connected they would have to give the screenwriters or director of the Jumanji movie a cut or something
3
rjmacready Mar 31, 2026 +3
Yeah, I looked a bit and saw different production/studio stuff. So, that's probably it.

94
JB1232235 Mar 31, 2026 +18

TheWatersOfMars Mar 31, 2026 +12
Besides, it’s a soft reboot. This is like asking why Jurassic World Rebirth isn’t Jurassic Park 7. Edit: Took out Phantom Menace example, because it was confusing
12
spartanss300 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Huh, Phantom Menace is not a soft reboot. It's a direct prequel. And anyways star wars movie numbers are in their own league of unique.
2
TheWatersOfMars Mar 31, 2026 +4
I definitely worded that badly (and just edited the comment), but I wasn’t saying it was. Soft reboots are only one example of how film numbering goes wonky. Besides, Force Awakens is a soft reboot, but nobody minded it being number 7. Better example: people were complaining that a new Monster’s Inc movie is being reported as “Monsters Inc. 3”, even though Monsters University is a prequel. But obviously that’s just a production placeholder, and it’s the third Monsters Inc. film they’ve made.
4
BilverBurfer Mar 31, 2026 +40
Jesus. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't. I saw a thread earlier today that referred to it as Jumanji 4, and all the comments were saying "when did they make a 3rd one???"
40
blufflord Mar 31, 2026 +21
Ikr, some people are actually questioning a film for paying tribute to a beloved actor. These people need employment
21

3
ZzzSleep Mar 31, 2026 +18
Eh, the ones with the Rock are so different I’m fine keeping them separate from the Robin Williams one. And yes I know they’re technically in the same universe.
18
Showdown5618 Mar 31, 2026 +5
>Why is it known as Jumanji 3 if they're sequels to Jumanji? Yes, it is Jumanji 4, but many people feel the Robin William's Jumanji is a stand alone movie and the sequels are a spin-off trilogy. Also, maybe Dwayne Johnson is dedicating the trilogy to Williams.

I’m choosing to read this as “Jumanji 3 wraps Johnson defecates final installment to Robin Williams.”
2
I_am_so_lost_hello Mar 31, 2026 +2
The new movies aren’t bad but I’m not f****** with them because the original is so good
2
Moses-the-Ryder Mar 31, 2026 +2
I feel bad for Dune and Avengers releasing same day as Jumanji 3, what were they thinking
2
Gimp_Man Mar 31, 2026 +2
Why
2
Hell_Derpikky Mar 31, 2026 +1
please, no more Kevin Hart
1
Fabulous_Computer965 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Terrible. Just a money grab
1
zbend Apr 1, 2026 +1
Do the proceeds go to his family or causes he supported? No? Might as well dedicate it to Putin if it means nothing.
1
skippythedriod Mar 31, 2026 +6
i know listnook hates the rock and kevin hart but i freaking loved the first two especially the first one.

Walruzs Mar 31, 2026 +5
Weird comment section

rebri Mar 31, 2026 +3
There is only one Jumanji.
3
Craig1974 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I dedicate my not caring about Jumanji 3 to Robin Williams.
1
theclipclop28 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Please please don't give your money to this, so they would stop making Rock-slop, please 🙏
3
USDXBS Mar 31, 2026 +3
Jumanji 2 was dog shit, I can't imagine the sequel to that would be any better.
3
Anus_Targaryen Mar 31, 2026 +10
Robin Williams can now finally rest easy, knowing JUMANJI 3 (2026) is dedicated in his honor
10
Less-Situation7197 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Please just honor Robin with actual heart, not a CGI cameo. That’s all I’m asking.
3
OutsideIndoorTrack Mar 31, 2026 +10
They honored him perfectly in the first "This is his house. I'm just living in it"
10
Robsonmonkey Mar 31, 2026 +6
Never ready got the appeal of the sequels, they didn’t feel like actual sequels to Jumanji but more of a new IP at times.
6
Riparian72 Mar 31, 2026 +15
Weirdly enough I think they are solid for what they are though nothing can beat the charm of the original.
15
Massive_Weiner Mar 31, 2026
I get the attempt to translate the setting from a board game to a video game for a new generation, but the sequels definitely lack that *fun factor*. There’s just something about the original that sets your imagination on fire. Never once felt that with these new ones.
0
Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +31
IMO the new ones have the fun factor but don’t have the scare factor. Jumanji was from a time when even the tentpole kids adventure flicks weren’t as afraid to get dark.

I_paintball Mar 31, 2026 +9
The spiders, the carnivorous plant/vine thing, alligators... And the kids dad hunting him for sport. How did my parents let me watch that?
9
xenopizza Mar 31, 2026 +6
That movie came out of at a time where the only social agreement between parents and kids was not go further than 100 miles of the house and come back by dinner time preferably alive
6
Dottsterisk Mar 31, 2026 +6
And the things that take a little longer for kids to wrap their heads around, like missing decades of your life and coming “home” to find that the world has changed, or the horror of being thought insane for those decades and living with that anguish. It was a neat f****** movie. And it has David Alan Grier.

ArchdruidHalsin Mar 31, 2026 +4
The video game "modernization" is the dumbest part for me. People still play board games, and it's a magic/cursed object. And the game cartridge it turned into is still retro. There is something compelling about a board game, which is theatre of the mind, suddenly manifesting itself in a physicalized way. Video games already have a *virtual* environment, so the whole thing just feels like another Matrix/Tron/Space Jam 2 knock off.

knowsnothing316 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I’m sure it’ll be a typical movie with Hart and Rock.
1
Buck_Slamchest Mar 31, 2026 +1
I suspect it’ll be a hit, even with Doomsday releasing the week before, but seven years is too long.
1
Whompa Mar 31, 2026 +1
TIL Jumanji 2 exists
1
tenisplenty Mar 31, 2026 +1
Half the media outlets calling it Jumanji 3 and half calling it Jumanji 4 is very confusing.
1
Speak_To_Wuk_Lamat Mar 31, 2026 +1
There was a Jumanji 2?
1
LooseSeal88 Mar 31, 2026 +1
So, they did follow through with bringing Bebe Neuwirth from the Williams movie back after teasing that in the last one. Think we're getting a Dunst cameo or nah?
1
Better_Rate8276 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I never play board games because I'm afraid of being Jumanjied.
1
Data_Chandler Mar 31, 2026 +1
Ah yes, the reputable website and renowned source *Hungama Express*.
1
PermissionTime6658 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Be real, It worth watching this movies?
1
Old-Following1508 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I used to look up to the rock growing up tbh but since I found out he's a fake cardboard of himself every time he steps out can't trust someone who doesn't reveal who they truly are only for the sake of "hurting their brand".
1
Dapper_Money_Tree Mar 31, 2026 +1
This isn't going to leave much time for them to perfect the CGI effects. I suspect they'll be muddy af.
1
baummer Mar 31, 2026 +1
I’m not sure I watched the second one
1
TeslaProphet Mar 31, 2026 +1
If there’s a cameo by an Ai generated Robin Williams, we march at dawn.
1
UnbuiltIkeaBookcase Mar 31, 2026 +1
r/movies REALLY underestimates how much casuals like these Jumanji movies
1
psyopia Mar 31, 2026 +1
I swear if Awkwafina is in this one again I’m not watching it. First remake was a 10/10 for me. Second one was a 9/10 until she showed up and made it a 2/10.
1
Jaambiee Mar 31, 2026 +1
Final instalment… so far!
1
Blochamolesauce Mar 31, 2026 +1
Jumanji 4. If you’re gonna dedicate the films, then at the very least honor the fact that your three installments are all sequels
1
John_writesjs Mar 31, 2026 +1
The way this new franchise has consistently paid tribute to Robin Williams is honestly so classy. You can tell they really care about the foundation he built, can't wait to see how they wrap up the trilogy
1
Shageen Mar 31, 2026 +1
He’s much smaller now than he was when he shot the first two. I wonder if they’ll address that in some comedic way.
1
ChCreations45 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Just give me more of Jack Black playing a different character and killing it.
1
DuBois_LaGrange Mar 31, 2026 +1
Surprised to see how far The Rock has fallen in listnooks eye. Did he do something terrible recently or are people just tired of him? The tribute seemed really sweet, and a nice thing to honor a legend who came before him.
1
alvaropuerto93 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I can say that I hesitate a lot when I saw the first one but I found it surprisingly good. I recommend them to anyone wondering and good fun in the cine if you have kids.
1
Immediate_Amoeba5923 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Damn, Dune 3, Avengers Doomsday, and now Jumani 3. I would bet Jumanji gets pushed forward a few months.
1
Kangarou Mar 31, 2026 +1
How do they wind up in there a 3rd time? At some point, I gotta victim-blame.
1
Square_Lobster1328 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Don’t they mean Jumanji 4?
1
n_mcrae_1982 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I want to see the game characters come out into the real world and actually interact with the characters this time.
1
blue_sidd Mar 31, 2026 +1
He is so pathetic.
1
TylerDoesStuff Mar 31, 2026 +1
JUMANJI 3 CHRISTMAS DAY. JUMANJI 3 DREAM BIG. JUMANJI 3 CHRISTMAS DAY.
1
BigDumDumer Mar 31, 2026 +1
As someone who loved the original and has never watched any of the reboot movies, are they worth watching?
1
appletinicyclone Mar 31, 2026 +1
Hope the dedication gives money to Zelda Williams
1
DigitalBoy05 Mar 31, 2026 +1
It would have been a better dedication to his memory by not rebooting his classic into a cash grab trilogy
1
otb1369 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Dedicating an F-rated comedy series isn’t really something to be proud of.
1
Just_a_dude92 Apr 1, 2026 +1
This means I'll have the 3 Ds movies to watch in Dezember in the cinema: Dune, Doomsday and now Djumanji. It'll be a fun month. Can't wait
1
griffshan Apr 1, 2026 +1
4 isn’t it?
