Can someone explain to me why anyone would ever go through all the trouble to commit a crime like this and use their own personal computer, phone, ipad etc to research?

People who think murder will improve their life are already living in a fantasy world without real consequences.

Every time I see that I'm amazed. I won't even google somethign personal on my work computer. Everything is recorded. Everyone should know that by now. Its almost as dumb as the people who take their cell phones with them to commit crime.

She’s not very smart and thought no autopsy would be done & was pushing for cremation in spite of his wishes

> use their own personal computer, phone, ipad etc to research? She googled, "luxury prisons for the rich America" Girl, murder convicts don't go to "luxury prison".

She also was basically just cosplaying being rich and wasn't going to wind up in those luxury prisons even if she only got convicted of her financial crimes.

> luxury prisons The real luxury prison is just house arrest.

And then go on tv to make money off the grief her kids had of daddy not being around anymore... actually, it does remind me of someone else..

You're underestimating just how technologically illiterate the average person is.

She was also searching up how to remotely wipe a phone and ironically searching up how the FBI forensically examines phones and devices to recover deleted information. This was all testified to by an FBI forensic examiner.

How do you get $4.5 million into debt? Wow.

fluffyscrambledmeggs Mar 16, 2026 +51
She tried her hand at real estate and house flipping; I believe most of that debt is tied up in one property she closed on the day before (?) her husband died.

Thanks for the explanation. Shows she's not really good at anticipating consequences for her shitty actions.

As the other person said, she was house flipping and terrible at it. The property she just closed on before killing her husband was going to cost a fortune to repair and bring up to code. Basically his entire life insurance policy was going to be burnt through paying off her debt.

> was going to cost a fortune to repair and bring up to code. The truth is, even if she were made of money (which she most certainly was not, and sure as shit won't be once all of her legal troubles are over -- only the murder case is over. She's still got a lot of legal troubles ahead), I'm not 100% sure that she would've been able to repair and bring it up to code. She was told in no uncertain terms that the permits required are being blocked by the Army Corps of Engineers. This house isn't even a money issue to get it to be in a position where it can actually be sold. It's a *whole lot more than just a money issue*.

haysu-christo Mar 17, 2026 +2
It’s a children’s book so … “If Mommy Did It”

My therapist would say all forms of grief are valid. Jk.

Well how else is she supposed to do research for the book?

Teddy_RGB Mar 17, 2026 +2
That’s an impressive commitment to research

When can we expect the Netflix documentary?

I’ve been watching the trial

dthawk Mar 16, 2026 +18
Me too. I feel like the state proved their case but you never know. She’s guilty as hell in my opinion.

I can potentially be on the fence about the fraud (forging signature). The handwriting expert convinced me that Eric didn't sign his name on that document, but I don't think we have strong proof it was Kouri who forged that. But the murder charge? She's guilty as f***. And the financial fraud charges that are going to be handled in a totally separate case? Wow.

From the article: >“She wanted to leave Eric Richins but did not want to leave his money,” said Summit County prosecutor Brad Bloodworth.

Wasn’t there testimony that the book was ghost-written?
