Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has blocked Kanye West from entering Britain after a row over the US rapper’s anti-Semitic comments.
West has been at the centre of controversy since it was announced he would be headlining the Wireless Festival in London in July.
It was understood that West applied for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK on Monday, but sources confirmed that the Government had blocked his entry.
The Government had faced growing calls to ban West from entering the UK over his previous anti-Semitic behaviour, which included releasing a song called Heil Hitler and advertising a swastika T-shirt for sale on his website.

Guess that ad in The Wall Street Journal wasn’t enough…

West was only sorry because he realized it started hurting his wallet.
If someone is truly sorry and seeks forgiveness and can change, I can forgive them to a point. But this dude isn’t fooling me, after his tour is over and the money is safe in his bank; the comments will come right back out

+16
For most people, that ad is literally part of the bully rollout. Given that kanye was always a pariah, the bipolar episodes from 2022 to 2025 basically confirmed most people's beliefs of him, and he became completely iredeemable to them. The truth is that the society at large will never accept any apology he does unless it's something extreme, like donating all his money and current and future earnings to anti holocaust organisations
16
Dat_Mawe30006 days ago
+38
He wasn’t always a pariah. The first ~decade after The College Dropout he was popular, respected, and relatively normal.
38
generic9yo6 days ago

I think society started seeing him as a pariah when he interrupted Taylor Swift's speech back in 2009, and it didn't help that Ye embraced that role

He was always saying he was the best and always felt his “art” was misunderstood. And i thought he was the best, i even compared him to Mozart in some ways. He was never the best rapper, but for a long time he was the best producer/composer in hiphop. Didn’t like his deep dive into christianity but well. When he got into all his antisemite shit it was crossing the line for me.
Can’t say i don’t listen to his music anymore but i won’t be going to his concerts. It’s sad really, because i still think he’s one of the best producers of the last 20 years.

I loved College Dropout, Late Registration. I especially liked the beats and how he revolutionized the chipmunk chorus and production he did for Common, Twista, etc.
But damn... he's **extremely** overrated for people to be still following him after every bad thing he has done.

That quote at the end:

What a chud. They knew the booking would draw eyeballs and bring in money. They didn't count on the government having standards.
