I expect the "but her emails" crowd to call this one out. /s

You don’t actually think those f****** morons had any concept of what they thought they were mad about tho, right? It used to be funny but at this point…

MisawaAB Mar 27, 2026 -1
I dont see why they would. One was doing work related stuff on personal servers while the other was emailing travel photos on commercial email.

You're thinking too small here, I'm fully expecting to see some marital affair communications released lol

I hope there aren’t any cookie recipes sent to Huma Abedin. Some people really get upset about that.

MisawaAB Mar 27, 2026 -9
nope, even low level people know not to. They have secure cell phones to access their work email everywhere they are, so no reason for him to use personal email for work related stuff.

People in this administration use gmail for work things and they have also used signal for organizing military strikes. So it doesn't matter if there is a reason or not, they can and do use personal email for work things.

Pretty sure they were being sarcastic

I'd bet money he forwards interesting work stuff to his personal account.

lnc_5103 Mar 27, 2026 +2
But he's also exceptionally stupid so.

This entire administration is an unfunny joke. We’ve got a pedophile and his hooker wife trying to force robots into child education, WhiskeyLeaks dumping national security secrets into an unsecured app, lazy password security by CashApp, it gets worse every day.

Wait 'til you hear who's the Education Secretary.

Imagine how cringe his personal email is. I feel sorry for the Iran agents assigned to read them.

Why on earth is the FBI not using a Zero-Trust model where only specific IP addresses can even access at all? This is insane to me. Any security folks care to point out if I am wrong about this? I mean I have clients who use this kind of setup where you must have their VPN client with an SSH key to even get any access to email or any service on their network.

InformedTriangle Mar 27, 2026 +4
Did you miss the big "Personal Email" in the headline?
4
MasterK999 Mar 27, 2026 +3
I read the title. He is director of the FBI for god's sake. He should not be using ANY consumer facing service that can be hacked like that. Even his personal email should be locked down with every high level tool available. I work with corporate clients who do this why can't our FBI?

ereinbe Mar 28, 2026 +1
Trump appointed a counterintelligence director who he thought was weak on security, so maybe that’s what got Patel the job.

What a complete clown show! This is a dangerously unserious administration.

This is the most incompetent and dangerous administration in history - can you imagine what they find in the directors emails? I’m still trying to understand how we got here - Complete and utter morons across the board

I bet his password was: "passwordcan'tbethesameasbefore69!."

slapstik007 Mar 27, 2026 +1
I would be interested if his personal phone was also part of the breach. I would be shocked if he was not using 2FA. I would wonder if there is a lot more we are not being told about what they had to do to open this account up.

Michael_Knight25 Mar 28, 2026 +1
So far the pictures I see are benign. That’s telling. If there wasn’t anything salacious they would not have revealed that they hacked him. There is more to come
1
ActionFigureCollects Mar 28, 2026 +1
Post his browser history and bookmarks, or it didn't happen.

MisawaAB Mar 27, 2026
meh, personal email isnt protected by the FBI networks, they claim they hacked the FBI systems but can only post a few travel photos of him...
0
733t_sec Mar 27, 2026 +7
Unless he sent information that shouldn't have left FBI networks on a personal email account.
