I have a feeling that if it wasn't Matthew Perry, and instead it was your neighbor across the street, she would have gotten far less of a sentence.

If it weren’t a celebrity this case would have received 0 attention

Thats not true. Dealers get charged all the time.

Guilty_Jackfruit4484 Apr 10, 2026 +63
While true, only after the investigation which often times will be skipped over because nobody cared about the person that died.

"No humans involved"

MoonOut_StarsInvite Apr 11, 2026 +8
Sure they do, but they don’t get pursued as a murderer. It would be in the context of a drug bust. They don’t go after the seller for an OD when you’re not famous. They just treat everyone else like a junkie and move on.
8
stephqwinn Apr 11, 2026 +4
“They don’t go after the seller for an OD when you’re not famous”. Not sure if this hyperbole, but if not, it’s absolutely false.
4
Cowql8r Apr 11, 2026 +3
Yeah, I know of a family where the dad gave the fatal dose to his wife. She’s dead and he’s in jail for it. Their kids are with family. It’s all around awful.

SplitSecondImmortal Apr 10, 2026 +6
Police across the nation mostly turn a blind eye to them.

She got a worse sentence than the Dr that forged the prescription. Explain that.

I saw a different post about it yesterday. She killed someone else with her drugs before Perry, so thats part of why they went so severe with her Also they found a LOT of drugs in her home. Like a f****** crazy amount for anyone to have, even when theyre a dealer. Tons of different drugs in huge amounts, plus a bunch of drug equipment that made it incredibly obvious she’s a dealer. Im sure it being Perry is what got her in the spotlight, but the actual sentence is because of how stupid she was with everything involved
88
jopperjawZ Apr 10, 2026 +27
Did she actually kill someone else with her drugs or did they also use them irresponsibly like Matthew Perry and end up dead?

Freak hot tubbing accident

BunnyMartinez Apr 10, 2026 +16
He took a plea deal and probably didn't have previous charges like she did.
16
Positive_Soup_1411 Apr 10, 2026 +6
Because she committed more crimes lol
6
roachwarren Apr 11, 2026 +2
They considered the disparate sentencing in the courtroom, she got a longer sentence because she'd been running her operation for years and because she continued dealing after Cody McLeary passed away. Also they were going for 65 years and she got a plea deal down to 15. None of her charges were for killing him or even contributing to death, it was all charges concerning her ketamine and meth dealing.
2
Eroom2013 Apr 10, 2026 +33
There wouldn’t even be an investigation. It would have been person drowned as a result of drug use. Case closed.

Actually, I had a friend who was in prison for manslaughter cause she allegedly sold drugs that someone od on. I think she was looking at 15-20 if convicted.

Was she convicted?

KRacer52 Apr 10, 2026 +23
Except there are tons of similar cases that don’t involve celebrities.  https://www.sctimes.com/story/news/2017/08/12/judge-cites-minnesota-od-deaths-sentencing-two-heroin-dealers/562369001/ https://www.therochestervoice.com/n-h-fentanyl-pusher-gets-10-30-years-in-od-death-cms-4514 You can find dozens and dozens of these cases. The only thing that is different is the visibility.
23
AllHailKeanu Apr 10, 2026 +13
I think the point is in LA where this happened people die from drug overdoses all the time and no one does this kind of intense investigation to uncover this many people to prosecute. There was a lot of backlash when this investigation was running that these resources magically appeared due only to it being a celebrity.
13
KRacer52 Apr 10, 2026 +19
“no one does this kind of intense investigation to uncover this many people to prosecute.” Based on what? You can find hundreds of these cases from all over the country, and the vast majority of them don’t have anyone famous involved. These are just Southern California and took roughly three minutes of searching. https://abc7.com/amp/post/opioid-overdose-arrests-dealers/10628871/ https://www.abc10.com/article/news/local/california/bernstein-high-school-arrest-teen-ods-and-dies/103-4dfa35f9-250e-46b2-885e-e64397d33d8e https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-10-02/ed-buck-indicted-in-second-overdose-death-at-west-hollywood-home “There was a lot of backlash when this investigation was running that these resources magically appeared due only to it being a celebrity.” Once again, based on the views of commenters who clearly don’t even bother to do five minutes of checking. I agree that there is outsized media attention on the Perry case, and it certainly could have helped widen the scope. But nothing about this case appears to be all that different from dozens and dozens of others, not involving celebrities.
19
Upper-Management-AI Apr 10, 2026 +8
Seems like a lot of drug dealers are upset about this case 😬
8
Friendly-Profit-8590 Apr 10, 2026 +5
It wouldn’t have been investigated to the point that she’d even be arrested
5
odysseyandoracle118 Apr 10, 2026 +9
Fair is fair. She got the exact same sentence as the Sackler family. Oh wait...
9
zombawombacomba Apr 10, 2026 +4
So because one miscarriage of justice happened, should we just ignore it ever again?
4
yolololololologuyu Apr 10, 2026 +3
The law should be consistent regardless of wealth
3
zombawombacomba Apr 10, 2026 +2
That doesn’t have anything to do with my question.
2
Diz7 Apr 10, 2026 +2
Maybe, maybe not. She was found to have resulted in the death of at least 2 people, she had a smorgasbord of drugs and admits her home had been a distribution hub. Maximum sentence for her charges was 65 years, she got 15. But they probably would never have spent as much time investigating his death and would have just written it off as another overdose and she would probably still be free.
2
NervousBreakdown Apr 10, 2026 +4
Yeah I’m not Looking to stick up for a drug dealer but this lady got 15 years because chandler from friends decided the best time to take ketamine and pass out was in a hot tub.
4
Local-Print-6397 Apr 10, 2026 +1
Someone else did OD off her supply beforehand and she wasn't charged with murder then I believe. Only because it's a celebrity now...
1
DroPowered Apr 10, 2026 +1
They would have never bothered to even track down the dealer.
1
rostol Apr 10, 2026 +1
she was not even his dealer.
1
Just_Cover_3971 Apr 10, 2026 +1
I have a bigger feeling that if she hadn’t sold it to him, there were plenty of other people who woul’ve.
1
Morlu Apr 11, 2026 +1
She wouldn’t have even gotten arrested.
1
Backseatridder Apr 11, 2026 +1
She shouldn’t have gotten thysentence she got it all, he was a grown adult who knew exactly what he was doing. If anybody’s a victim in the situation, it’s her and if I feel bad for anybody in the situation, it’s her not him.
1
BlacksmithLoud3662 Apr 11, 2026 +1
Sad isn’t it
1
TKInstinct Apr 11, 2026 +1
She had killed sometime else years prior and was never arrested.
1
LateMajor8775 Apr 11, 2026 +1
That is true, and she likely profited a lot from being his supplier. Which dealer wouldn’t charge a celebrity premium. I guess that comes with extra risk
1
Technical_Hall_9841 Apr 11, 2026 +1
Uhhhh duh The fact that she delved into the celebrity nucleus, is the biggest reason why we're having this conversation
1
TGrady902 Apr 11, 2026 +1
They probably wouldn’t have even tried to find the dealer. Anyone else takes too much ketamine and drowns in a pool they’d go “that’s a shame” and move on, case closed.
1
VariousExternal5189 Apr 11, 2026 +1
And no apology!
1
mountaindoom Apr 11, 2026 +1
If she were a Sackler she would have gotten nothing.
1
GuySmith Apr 12, 2026 +1
Yeah I brought this up to my wife when it was being reported. While I do think the people around him deserve some responsibility, why are we basically pretending these celebrities have no free will and were being held at gunpoint to consume drugs? Addiction f****** sucks, but at the end of the day, it’s them making the choice. I don’t think this person deserves what they’re getting as a punishment. They should be punished, but this is a lot. I recall the same thing happening with one of the people from One Direction killing themselves and they were trying to blame literally everyone but the guy who killed himself.
1
Hazy-n-Lazy Apr 12, 2026 +1
>she would have gotten far less of a sentence Probably none. Matthew Perry drowned in his hot tub after taking too much K. Anybody else it would have been a tragic accident and she wouldn't even have been talked too
1
PM_ME_UR_HIP_DIMPLES Apr 10, 2026 +265
She can't be the only one culpable in this. The assistant that actually gave it to him should be somewhat responsible too right?
265
BunnyMartinez Apr 10, 2026 +127
Yes, others were arrested and charged. They took plea deals.
127
Training-Republic301 Apr 10, 2026 +54
This is like the story of "Blow" levels of culpability. I'm sure she was connected to many high profile people and is now just used as the fall guy
54
CrustyTh3Punk Apr 10, 2026 +16
Right. Doubt there’s nobody above her, but that person made sure the right people were paid to keep their names out of it.
16
Diz7 Apr 10, 2026 +6
She apparently had a large amount of various drugs and her home was used as a distribution hub. I'm sure anyone above her is a serious player.
6
Rogendo Apr 10, 2026 +15
And the press probably manufactured the moniker to make her seem like the end of the line and the source of all ketamine. She is a PoS drug dealer but she’s probably already been replaced by another person doing the service Matthew Perry and others wanted
15
Morningfluid Apr 10, 2026 +19
Still she should be punished. You should read some of the things she said in text. She's a pretty heartless human being.
19
doctorhino Apr 10, 2026 +9
A lot of drug dealers would have to be heartless, imagine selling something that kills your clients, maybe even people you grew friends with, and then keeping on selling because that's your only source of income.
9
CaughtALiteSneez Apr 10, 2026 +57
No, Matt is culpable and paid the ultimate price. I’m all for dealers etc. going to jail, but the way people have been reacting towards Matt having zero agency in his life is nauseating. An assistant is paid to do what the boss asks is not responsible here.
57
thiswasmysixthchoice Apr 10, 2026 +62
Actually, if you get paid to commit a crime, you’re still committing a crime.
62
sixtus_clegane119 Apr 10, 2026 -3
It was a prescription, the assistant was giving him prescription drugs (assuming it was Perry’s assistant we are talking about) no mens rea

15 years for selling pure K to a person asking for pure K. Like it's her fault someone with a heart condition did a silly amount of K in a hot tub of all places. Like, even if your heart was pristine, that's just asking to drown. The doctors that were prescribing K to him for a bullshit reason (but apparently not enough of it if he was buying on the side) got off with a slap on the wrist.
33
The-Duke-of-Delco Apr 10, 2026 +11
I didn’t know he had a heart condition but doing k in a hot tub is insane. Such an easy way to drown.
11
14ktgoldscw Apr 10, 2026 +8
I’ve only done K once and could have drowned in a glass of water, it’s so insanely irresponsible.
8
CapnTBC Apr 10, 2026 +14
It’s almost like it’s illegal to sell drugs, Perry shouldn’t have been buying illegal drugs and this woman shouldn’t have been selling them. Perry is dead so they can’t really do anything legally to him, she’s alive so she can face the consequences of her actions.
14
renome Apr 10, 2026 +4
I'm not saying she should get off scott-free, just that 15 years is ludicrous relative to the crime she was convicted of. What did the guy who swore the Hippocratic oath, only to proceed to give Perry bullshit prescriptions for recreational drug use get?
4
Diz7 Apr 10, 2026 +8
She wasn't just some small time dealer, she admitted in court her home was being used as a distribution hub for ketamine, methamphetamine, cocaine and counterfeit Xanax among other drugs. Maximum sentence was actually 65 years.
8
BunnyMartinez Apr 10, 2026 +4
Its not, she has had previous drug charges and apparently didn't listen then, hopefully she will now 🤷🏾‍♀️
4
sixtus_clegane119 Apr 10, 2026 +21
Mathew perry is culpable for doing ketamine in the hot tub, the buck should really stop there If you’re gunna k hole swim in blankets not tubs
21
NobodyLikedThat1 Apr 10, 2026 +16
I think Matt paid his price already. But I'm not sure why you'd think his drug dealer isn't responsible.
16
Morningfluid Apr 10, 2026 +14
Because people love to be idiots saying this shit without reading the details. She sold more than K and her drugs had previously caused a death prior.
14
zombawombacomba Apr 10, 2026 +5
It’s the whole dumbass crowd on Listnook saying legalize all drugs. They think people who make their living killing other people like this woman should get off totally free.
5
stvura Apr 10, 2026 +139
So we’re locking up the Sackler family too right?? Oh wait no they were responsible for the deaths of a bunch of poor people so who cares. I’m really trying to avoid sugar, can I sue Coca Cola? I mean if it weren’t for the fact that their product is freely available and even marketed to me I would be able to stop consuming it! Why should I be held personally responsible?? /s
139
Liefvikingmonster2 Apr 11, 2026 +14
No, no, we are ok with those drug dealers because they invest in our politicians. We can't lock those assholes up. Think of the economy!
14

Considering she was caught talking about book deals and copywriting her nickname while awaiting sentencing it’s clear she doesn’t truly have any regret.

Hot take: she shouldn’t be in jail and Mr Perry should be the only one held responsible for doing too much ketamine in a hot tub.
172
Ltrain86 Apr 10, 2026 +73
She should be in jail for drug dealing, but she shouldn't be held liable for his death.
73
pricklypire Apr 10, 2026 +28
She pled guilty to distributing  ketamine resulting in death. It’s not like she was charged with straight up murder or something.
28
Horror_Response_1991 Apr 10, 2026 +29
With a 15 year sentence she basically was
29
pricklypire Apr 10, 2026 +12
That’s for the five charges she pled guilty to, so no.
12
steve_french07 Apr 10, 2026 +2
She’ll probably get parole at 7 or 8 years. Basically a manslaughter conviction along with other drug charges. Not murder.

is ketamine legal to dispense without a prescription? did this lady have a license to write prescriptions?
16
25sittinon25cents Apr 10, 2026 +8
In terms of who should take responsibility for the death, I agree with this. Matthew Perry, like most regular drug users, know what they're taking, and what's considered a dangerous amount. As long as the drugs from the dealer aren't anything other than what they user ordered, the consumer is responsible for their intake. And my opinion on this applies to alcohol as well. The only difference is that alcohol is legal so the manufacturers don't take responsibility, but in all cases, the consumer should be responsible for their consumption.
8
Lost_my_password1 Apr 10, 2026 +2
Ok… K queen and Matthew Perry both get 15 years in jail..
2
frmr000 Apr 10, 2026 +2
That's a great take, unfortunately it breaks down when you consider the fact that selling narcotics is illegal and punishable by law.
2
dorsalemperor Apr 10, 2026 +6
nah, read the documents and released text messages. They preyed on a wealthy addict for his money, way overcharging him knowing he’d pay and they’d get rich off of it. Knowing exactly the health problems they’d be setting him up for, bc long term Ketamine use fucks your body up. Ketty cramps on their own will make you want to die bc they’re so excruciating, and that’s before we even get into how bad it is for your bladder. I know someone who isn’t even 40 yet and needs to piss through a bag bc of his addiction. Bare minimum it’s a complete dereliction of her duty as a doctor to make safe choices for her patients and not set them up for future harm. Whatever your thoughts are on addiction, Doctors have a level of responsibility to their patients and she clearly disregarded that.
6
BunnyMartinez Apr 10, 2026 +11
Umm, she was a drug dealer and trafficker...both are illegal. She has been in trouble with the law before and is linked to the death of another person. It's disturbing and odd the amount of people that share this take.
11
DarkLordofDownvotes Apr 10, 2026 +7
Does "hot" take necessarily mean "dumb" take now?
7
RBT__ Apr 10, 2026 +4
Yes. Free all drug dealers!!
4
Feeling-Shelter3583 Apr 10, 2026 +10
Convicted for dealing illegal substances? Fair. But let’s not blame drug dealers for people’s addictions… That’s like saying I’m fat because the store kept selling me Klondike bars.
10
Cacti_Jed Apr 10, 2026 +3
To an extent, I agree that people shouldn’t go to prison for selling drugs to other people who ask for them. But the law is still law. It’s illegal the way in which it was conducted. Are they going harder at this because Perry is a celebrity? Yes, but that’s the risk when you break the law. Someone overdosed, people get imprisoned, it’s nothing new.
3
Thegirl1982 Apr 10, 2026 +6
So drug dealers should go free???

2
Mrrykrizmith Apr 11, 2026 +1
*wait* (I didn’t read the article) but he was doing it *in* the f****** hot tub? This whole time I thought the story was he was doing ketamine and drowned in his pool. I just assumed he took his dose, tried to walk somewhere comfortable and ended up falling into the pool. That was the only scenario my mind could come up with because I couldn’t imagine anything else. Certainly didn’t imagine him being dumb enough to be doing that shit *in* water. Was it his first time ever using it or something? Holy shit. makes me even more annoyed that this lady is on the hook for it. EDIT: not on the hook as in she’s charged with murder, just that she’s always going to be known as the lady that “killed Matthew Perry”
1
Advanced_Tell3778 Apr 10, 2026 +12
Selling drugs is illegal people. Yes, Perry was a full grown man and responsible for his own consequences. But selling drugs is still illegal.
12
clay_perview Apr 11, 2026 +1
Exactly, like are people really saying that drug users deserve death while the dealers should just get petty charges?
1
Trifang420 Apr 10, 2026 +28
She didn't kill him! 14 years is nuts. Drs prescribe ketamine for God's sake.
28
No_Smoke_2712 Apr 10, 2026 +15
The sentence is insane. Perry was an adult and she gave him unadultered drugs that he asked for. It’s a tragedy that he died but her moral culpability is no different than a bar tender’s who serves someone who dies in a crash because they got drunk.
15
Krian78 Apr 10, 2026 +9
The sentencing was for five charges, only one being about Perry. The headlines are pretty misleading.
9
PensandoEnTea Apr 10, 2026 +3
Wait til you hear about how some substances are illegal and some are not!
3
abaybay99 Apr 11, 2026 +2
She also sold drugs illegally to many other people
2
GoodtimeZappa Apr 10, 2026 +3
And they prescribe morphine, barbs, and everything else. What insane point is this?
3
Icy-Term101 Apr 10, 2026 +2
She was a prolific drug dealer of a controlled medical substance for multiple years, and you generally are charged for each time you break a law. It's not like this is some small-time weed dealer from your local community. Doctors prescribe all kinds of things, which is why it's illegal for someone to distribute controlled medical substances without being a licensed doctor, and why licensed doctors are not supposed to prescribe medication to non-patients.
2
clay_perview Apr 11, 2026 +1
First 14 years is not at all a long sentence in a case where someone has died. Second she isn’t a Dr so so she can’t prescribe a single thing, just because an illicit substance has a medical purpose doesn’t mean I can sell it around town.
1
GSgowther Apr 10, 2026 +8
Literally people only care because Matthew Perry was involved. If it was some random person addicted to drugs, they would not care. Thts just my opinion. The only thing I’m learning from this is not serve rich people and i would be fine. Just my opinion

Man, wait till you learn about drug abuse and personality disorders. Some people are born that way, and sadly the world doesn't help them. I bet my left left the majority of users wish they never started.
2
herefromyoutube Apr 10, 2026 +4
Which is why we need to stop treating drug users as criminals and instead treated them as people who need help. Police and prisons aren’t how you deal with drug abuse and it never was.

I think this is an insane sentence. 15 years? Folks, how many people drown in hot tubs, or pools, or whatever body of water, after drinking too much per year? No one knows, because we don't even track it, much less try to prosecute the sellers of alcohol. But it's probably 2 to 3 thousand per year? This poor b****** f***** did too much Ketamine in a hot tub like an idiot and drowned. So we put HER in a cage for 15 years. But alcohol gets a pass. What a f****** mess.
8
doctorlongghost Apr 10, 2026 +10
Reminds me of the drug dealer associated with Mac Miller’s OD who also got a ridiculous sentence (17 years). I get that someone died and these people should pay the consequences for that but that doesn’t mean they should serve ridiculous amounts of time in prison. 7 years is fair. 14 is not.
10
Gayf Apr 10, 2026 +13
Pretty sure he got it worse because it knowingly sold drugs laced with fentanyl. Mac asked for oxys, not fent.

Ironic Big Pharma is never held accountable aka the Sackler family that killed tens of thousand of people

Love that you mentioned the Sackler dirtbags.

Lot of drug dealers in the comments

TheeDelpino Apr 10, 2026 +4
Was thinking the exact same thing. All these people defending a drug dealer.

Gamped Apr 11, 2026 +2
It’s fine to do drugs or even deal with small time dealers but this woman was clearly part of organised crime and with that comes so many more issues. Think about supply chains, bribes, extortion, human trafficking big time DDs never usually just stay in their lane.

Well, she saw the light. Some never do....

2
Lopsided_Gear_9565 Apr 11, 2026 +2
Only because a famous dipshit died did she get a lengthy sentence.

This case is kind of crazy. So Matthew Perry took ketamine and got into a hot tub, passed out and drowned. So if somebody buys alcohol at the store, gets drunk and passes out in a hot tub, are we coming for the person that sold that alcohol?

DingleBerryScone Apr 10, 2026 +2
I really don’t think she has to take the full heat 🤷🏻‍♂️
2
falconfoxbear Apr 10, 2026 +2
All the people calling her "Ketamine Queen" never met my ex....
2
cacamilis22 Apr 10, 2026 +2
It seems a bit of a harsh sentence. Imo.

IllustriousCod5957 Apr 11, 2026 +2
Matthew Perry killed Matthew Perry
2
PugLove69 Apr 11, 2026 +2
The dude obviously overdosed and committed suicide with these drugs. I’m sorry I understand it’s illegal to be given drugs, but this is so far after the event and they’re just looking for someone to blame we all need to accept and come to terms the fact that these people did them themselves in Matthew Perry is the one to blame

jellisjimmy Apr 10, 2026 +2
But he’s not held responsible for HIS own addiction? Lame
2
lunchypoo222 Apr 10, 2026 +12
He’s dead. Laying in a coffin in a drawer at a mausoleum. I’d say that’s an ultimate form of accountability when it comes to paying the price for one’s addiction.

JayPlenty24 Apr 10, 2026 +7
Yes and she's also responsible for selling substances that can kill people. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

This is such bs. He didnt od on ketamine he took a drug that is intended to put you into a dream state at large doses, in a bathtub… It doesnt depress/ shut off your respiratory system like opiates which is why its a safe alternative or addition/supplement to anesthesia. But it does put you in a trance like sleep. So dont do it in a f****** bathtub this is nobodies fault but his own
