Cool. Now do the Sacklers.
Edit: The war on drugs has always been a war on the poor. Mr. Perry's death and the investigation of his passing is one of many examples of our government's preference for the privileged class. Rip to the many who deserved the investigation into their passing that Mr Perry was afforded. Rip as well to Matthew Perry.

See now, the Sacklers were incorporated. It wasn’t their fault, it was the corporations fault. Corporations have a mind of their own and can’t be controlled so there is no one to blame 🤷🏻♂️ Don’t worry the fine the corporation will have to pay will be much less then all the profits they made from their bad behavior. It’s a business expense, see the difference?

It really is just breathtaking how badly Republicans have fucked this country up. Absolutely indescribable the amount of damage and suffering they have created. I say this as a former Conservative. Literally, think of any situation that has an obviously worse choice or bad outcome, and you can guarantee it's something Republicans would do or say or believe. The vileness and hypocrisy is why my views shifted away from the party.

I remember there were opioid towns sprouting up that would have several pharmacies handing out opioids like candy. It got so bad that at one point in some of these opioid towns, there were more prescriptions filled for opioids than there were residents of the town.
It was a legit open drug market and the sackler family was reaping the benefits.

It's not just this. It's the fact that the Sacklers knew OxyContin was insanely more addictive than other opiods, but under guidance from global management firm McKinsey, they intentionally misled the public and bribed doctors to push their products. They were fully aware of the dangers and consequences but chose profit over social welfare.
They are responsible for countless deaths, broken families and communities across the country, and have cost the american taxpayer untold billions in added expenses (healthcare and other systemic strains due to opiod epidemic and broken communities). Some of the most despicable leaches of our time — straight up Epstien-level evilness. Unfortunately, they mostly got away with it. Same with McKinsey, who is responsible for plenty of other atrocities.

I came here specifically to find this comment, because I knew it would be at the top.
People who say this are wrong. Full stop. I have been a drug counselor for over a decade and have seen many many many many people go to prison for the deaths of people who were not famous. Just because there isn't a front page story on CNN and/or you don't pay attention to local news stories about the deaths of drug users does not mean that no one cares.
[Here](https://www.wlwt.com/article/clermont-county-ohio-deadly-overdose-arrest-grand-jury/70963327) is just one example from TODAY's news for me, locally.
I searched and found the following articles, all from THIS WEEK. It took me less than 20 seconds to find these.
[One](https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/woman-charged-in-ultra-music-fest-drug-overdose-arrested-in-georgia-report-says/3791531/) \- [Another One](https://www.sooeveningnews.com/story/news/crime/2026/04/03/sault-man-arrested-in-connection-to-feb-2026-drug-overdose-death/89451756007/) \- [One from another state](https://www.wdtv.com/2026/04/07/man-arrested-after-fatal-overdose-barbour-county/) \- and [Another one this week, from a fifth state](https://www.kaaltv.com/news/rochester-man-arrested-in-connection-with-fatal-overdose/)
The point here is that people get arrested for the deaths of those with substance use disorders ALL THE TIME. The virtual (edit: I meant virtue, but maybe it should be virtual virtue) signalers on here, such as you, just only care to look or comment if it's a famous person.

yeah, people need to understand what makes news news... the cops going after a random no name drug dealer who killed someone with fake pills in a small town is definitively NOT newsworthy, unless you personally new someone involved. If that dealer killed multiple people, that would likely get local coverage.
Matthew Perry, Mac Miller, Prince, etc. OD-ing is big news, for multiple reasons, one of which is to signal to the rest of us that if rich celebrities with endless connections cant be 100% sure of the safety of their recreational drugs -- neither can you. IDC who you buy from or how long you knew them.
151
chr1spe2 days ago
+18
Knowingly selling someone something "fake" is way, way worse than just selling someone drugs. I don't really understand blaming the person who sold the drugs at all. I know bar tenders can get in trouble for overserving in DUIs, too, but I probably blame this person less because they weren't even there, and I don't blame bartenders for letting someone get drunk with the assumption they're getting an Uber or someone else is driving.
What happened was a tragedy, but that doesn't mean it was someone else's fault. Unless there is information elsewhere, I don't see any indication this was anything other than Perry taking too much Ketamine.

Shiiiiit, anyone who is in your line of work around Clermont County seriously has their work cut out for them. I used to live there, the opioid epidemic really hit that area hard. Several people I went to high school with have died over the years from overdoses.
11
Fair_Entertainer45452 days ago
+5
I work in the city myself, and I can't say we're any better off than Clermont (as far as use levels). But, we definitely have a lot more options available for treatment, and we're lucky to currently have a Sheriff who is very pro-treatment.
I take some comfort in the fact that Butler County is now the only local county that doesn't give any treatment in jail. Hamilton County will help you detox safely and get you connected to any type of treatment you desire. Clermont will get you medication and help you find a therapist. Sadly, Butler will happily watch you die from alcohol withdrawal and tell your family it's not their fault you were such a piece of shit.... So, we're down to only needing to work on one of them..

Dude had previously done ketamine multiple times yet he decided he would do that shit in the hot tub knowing full well this substance can and will make you unable to even walk in not even that high of a dose. Like, okay we can jail her for supplying the drug that got the man into that state but he did it willingly and basically accidentally committed suicide by combining opioids, ketamine and a hot tub. That is like accidentally committing suicide by playing russian r*******. It is accidental but very very very very very predictable. Ketamine by itself in a sofa/bed would probably have reduced the danger factor by a thousand. MDMA is pretty much as dangerous as ketamine (neither being particularly dangerous in comparison to other drugs until you start mixing multiple substances).
24

Seriously, if I got shitfaced in the bath, passed out and drowned, it would be completely absurd to charge the liquor store with my death. It's also because it involves a network of doctors and employees illegally supplying someone with drugs. This case isn't only involving a drug dealer and a user. Also keep in mind the only reason you're hearing about it is because it involved a celebrity, and you're not hearing about the thousands of other cases that aren't newsworthy when a dealer gets the book thrown at them.

FWIW I doubt she manufactured the ketamine, I t’s a notoriously hard drug to synthesize, but if she tried I wonder if that is part of the reason he died, since it takes an obnoxious amount of ketamine to overdose (ld50 being 4.2g for a 70kg person, most people being unconscious at 1/10th of that) my guess is he also had alcohol or another respiratory depressant in his system.

Ketamine is one of the safest drugs that is routinely used for recreation. It doesn't depress breathing and peak effects generally last for only 30 minutes.
Matthew Perry could've just as easily have drunk himself into a stupor and drowned, and no one would be going after the store that sold him the booze.
The Sacklers got the country addicted to the most dangerous type of drug (opioids) and they get to live in luxury with no consequences. It's madness.

a middle aged overweight guy with heart issues, who's had multiple surgeries SHOULD NOT be taking large amounts of ketamine, despite what you think is safe. It raises blood pressure, heart rate, can cause seizures and heart attacks. He was not taking "party size" doses, he was injecting big ones (he even asked for "a big one" the day he died, which i think was his second or third injection in the same day. This is why it's illegal to use without a legit prescription.

I don’t know your laws, but here the person serving them alcohol can be found liable too

I didn’t know that, but I’d still be against the law as it pertains to alcohol too.
How would a bartender know if the person is ubering or not? The person could look sober and still crash into a tree.
It just seems like a slippery slope and prone to being enforced selectively as in this case.

Just how I believe Perry was a grown man who knew the risks of taking drugs, and only has himself to blame for his death, I believe she is a grown woman who knew the risks of dealing drugs, and only has herself to blame for her imprisonment.
I’ve done drugs, idk how many times I’ve done ket, Mandy, coke, if anything serious ever happened to me I’d blame myself, and I’ve never sold drugs because I know the punishment for that makes it not worth it to me.

Yup. This is f****** egregious.
In my experience, when there is an overdose the police determine whether they are going to pursue charges or not solely on what the family/next of kin want. This is so high profile they may not have been given that chance - who knows.

In my opinion his death isn’t on her hands. You have free will, if you choose to use that free will to be self destructive, that’s on you. If it wasn’t her, it would have been someone else, if it wasn’t ketamine, it would have been something else.
He could have just as easily drank himself to death, like thousands of people do each year, but no-one suggests alcohol manufacturers should go to prison for it.

Exactly. He used to come in and play craps in the c***** I worked in for years prior to his death. He was an extremely unpleasant person to be around. Constantly drunk and fucked up on all sorts of shit.
He frequently played craps by himself. Not because he was some high roller, or a celebrity. Because he had such a terrible reputation no one wanted to be near him.

Totally agree.
I know how addictive ket can be.
I used to IM it daily for a long period during Covid. There were people who tried to stop me from doing ket, it didn't help. I got infections from it, felt totally shit, after binging it, insane drug debts, i ruined my life, because of that drug. Nothing could stop me from taking it for a period.

HARD agree. Everyone is solely responsible for treating their meat suit in a way that won't kill it. That means if they do drugs, the fault lies solely with them, the same as it does if they McDonald's themselves to death.

Not really. Ketamine is super safe as long as you aren't somewhere that you wouldn't want to pass out. Should you sue gas station attendants for selling beer to someone who had alcohol poisoning, passed out and died in their hot tub? Of course not. Yet due to our our criminalization of drugs you can get an absurd amount of time for virtually the same thing.
20
josh_the_misanthrope2 days ago

I wouldn't say *super* safe. I've seen people wig out on it and hurt themselves. I'd put it at "relatively safe, if used in moderation".

Lol, I couldn’t care less about dirty dealers facing the consequences of their dirty actions, but even as a Perry fan I partially agree with you, he was a super rich white dude who kind of bragged about doing Marijuna (before it was legalized); Cocaine, Meth, Heroin, LSD and whatever he could get, probably even sniffed glue but never spent even twelve hours in jail for breaking the law by soliciting drugs; there were also reports that he was doing five times the amount of Ketamine prescribed for him , now that he’s dead, partly because of his own irresponsibility and hedonistic behaviors, the justice system wants to find someone to blame, how hypocritical is that?

This is just celeb bullshit. The guy knew what he was doing. He was an addict but was depressed, probably was using ketamine to deal with metal health stuff.
Poor guy, but also that was his choice. And nothing wrong by it either. The guy had money, let him do what he wants with it. But 15 years?

I don't think I agree with this.
Matthew Perry was a well known drug addict and was using ketamine irresponsibly. He's an adult and should be accountable for his choices. This woman got a longer sentence than some rapists.

Perry was a h******* addict. His autobiography was one of the most disingenuous things I have ever read. Fifteen years for selling drugs to a celebrity is absurd. The cops don't put this much energy into investigating who sells drugs to your average Joe Nobody who overdoses.

Oh good, this must mean the Sackler family is all going to prison forever, right? LOL! what an effing joke our "justice system" is. How many millions did they knowingly kill for corporate profits? Oh, that's right, those drug dealers formed a corporation to deal their drugs and intentionally get people addicted.

> but why does his death result in arrests and investigations
They do. Don’t confuse your social media driven view of the news for reality. Regular drug dealers being prosecuted for regular people deaths don’t make headlines.
That said there’s also a matter of traceability; celebrity status meant everyone knew who he went to for drugs, so she was easier to catch. If I OD’d the cops wouldn’t know where I got the drugs from.

Ket is very common in the UK and has been since at least I was 13 (im 31 now.) Ive seen a few friends get fucked up kidneys for life because of it. I do take MD, Shrooms, acid etc but I am so glad K has always been something that bored me.
Awful drug, cant say never do them because people always will, but really if youre gonna do it its really not something you want to do habitually.

It's actually a miracle for some people used properly in a medical setting. Perry was being treated for depression with ketamine by a legitimate doctor. Unfortunately he decide to self medicate as well with tragic results.
I've had ketamine infusions with my doctor for CPTSD and it was life-changing. Like most things it's just a tool and I hope people who need it aren't scared to get it under medical supervision. It's one of the few drugs that has been shown to work on people with treatment resistant depression.
