Dude all but bragged in his book about being this big, one of a kind, super special, type of addict. Incurable even!! He wrote about his K use. Maybe people took that as him trying to be sober but dude talked about it SO in-depth that it was clear he was intent on swapping one issue for another. Now while I agree drug dealers should be held responsible it’s irresponsible to make it seem like this guy was some innocent victim. He was open about doing K treatments. And the way he bragged about his super addiction (and his comedy skills, and his money, and his athleticism, and intelligence, AND how he was descendant from beauty…and on and on) it should come as no surprise to anyone he started doing the shit on his own time. His friends have openly stated they lived in fear of getting the call he had died.

And if it was some random crackhead that died, no action would be taken.

Exactly. People want to pretend they care about human life but reality is they care based on degrees of classism.

As if he wouldn't have gotten a bunch of Ketamine from somewhere else.

He’s liked by many but he’s a grown man who made his own choices

I get the sentiment, but is a good not always a good? Or does context diminish it? The fact is that a drug dealer responsible for perpetrating and profiting off of addiction is behind bars. She had a whole drug dealing operation. She deserves jail time the same way any drug dealer does. Who cares if it took a rich guy’s death to do that? EDIT: I guess not LOL

Matthew Perry is a big boy who could make his own decisions. This is like suing Jim Beam for the death of an alcoholic.

It's not really the same. The dealer shouldn't be charged with his death (i don't think she is?) but a drug dealer being arrested and charged with selling drugs isn't the same as what you're saying.

like its her fault thats he a drugged addict. gtfo.

It is illegal to sell ketamine.
1
SwingKey3599 4 days ago +2
so you think matthew perry would want her incarcerated for inadvertently contributing to his death?
2
LilMamiDaisy420 4 days ago +3
I don’t think he would want her incarcerated. That was his friend. He knowingly over did it.
3
foogeyzi69 4 days ago +1
True but nobody forced him to buy from her and overdo it. They have clinics in Cali where they do Ketamine therapy overseen by pros to ensure no ODs. He chose to overdo it himself. Thats on him. He cant even stop using drugs to for a few weeks to look normal on camera when they did that Friends reunion show for HBO. He came in looking like shit like he didnt get paid millions of dollars to laugh and smile at the clips theyll show him.

That is true as well. Thought the conversation between those doctors on just how much money that can exploit Perry for is chilling.

Are they going to send the company that made his hot tub to prison for not making drown-proof jacuzzis?

Echoing someone else’s comment in a separate thread about this: “great, now let’s prosecute the Sackler family”

ok. Would love to.

WTF?! Matthew Perry caused his own death. Not advocating for drug dealers, but how hard is it to accept that our dear ‘friend’ was an addict?

Dickduck21 4 days ago +7
I'm fine with her doing time, but you're right. Reading some of the investigation pieces...he was still very much an addict, he'd just swapped one drug for another. It's sad.

You understand drug dealing is a crime, right. She is being sentenced for dealing illegal drugs.

dirbofficial 4 days ago +6
Yes, but the headline isn’t “Drug dealer arrested for dealing drugs”. It’s framing it as if she killed him.
6
SkunkySammy 4 days ago +4
Yeah I read another news post about this and it’s framing her as if she’s a murderer. Like drug dealers are bad, but addicts will get their kick somewhere else, and it’s not her fault if he died, because he probably would have done so anyway

Yes, it is.

Drug dealers belong in prison, especially dangerous, hard drugs. Rule of law really doesnt matter to people anymore, does it?
-1
MightBeDownstairs 5 days ago +7
Dude you can easily get ketamine on the Internet from mental health providers like Joyous. They send all of it. He took the drug and killed himself whether that was his intent or not.
7
goteamventure42 5 days ago +18
I mean taking ketamine alone in a hot tub was definitely a bad idea
18
MightBeDownstairs 5 days ago +8
Yep. I believe people should be able to ingest what they want. It’s personal freedom but with that comes responsibility.

TheWalrus_15 4 days ago
Ever heard of product liability?

MightBeDownstairs 4 days ago +7
The ketamine wasn’t the problem. How much he took and the setting was the problem. He knew that he was pushing it
7
Express-Citron-6387 3 days ago +1
Yes, he was doing the prescribed at the same time as the unprescribed.
1
TheWalrus_15 4 days ago -1
I mean we’re getting down to semantics now. With drug deaths the issue is almost always dosing, but if 1gram of a substance can kill you there is a reason that it is illegal to sell.
-1
Sleepingguitarman 4 days ago +2
Weight has nothing to do with the illegality of a substance. There's plenty of legal/otc substances where a dose is 1mg-25mgs.
2
filtersweep 4 days ago +1
A toxic dose is about ten times a therapeutic dose for Ketamine
1
MightBeDownstairs 4 days ago +1
Literally not illegal. You can legally get ketamine online through mental health providers.
1
goteamventure42 4 days ago +2
If I bought legal weed, got high, crashed my car and died, that should be on me not the dispensary
2
Sleepingguitarman 4 days ago
It's a scheduled substance and he procured it illegally. Just because a substance CAN be prescribed or used in a medical setting doesn't mean it's not refered to as an illegal drug when bought off the street/through illegal means.

HummaKavula95 4 days ago +1
Sooooo you don’t care about people dealing drugs in the street? You think that’s fine? So just do nothing about curbing access to them? These things aren’t mutually exclusive.
1
MightBeDownstairs 4 days ago +3
That’s another issue completely separate. You should for sure read up on the war on drugs.
3
HummaKavula95 4 days ago
That’s not a separate issue… that’s literally what this post is about.

Whataboutism, so f****** stupid.

TheWalrus_15 4 days ago +2
Addiction is a mental disorder. It’s a lot more complicated than choosing to take drugs. Just look at what Perry himself had to say on the subject.
2
connor42 4 days ago +6
He drowned, he didn’t OD on Ketamine Anyone who’s ever done K, even once nevermind someone who’s been a h******* addict, would know not to take a bath while doing it Due to the obvious and very strong muscle relaxant and sedative properties The line between a buzz and temporary paralysis is quite slim, there’s even a word for it a K-Hole
6
TheWalrus_15 4 days ago +2
Right that’s true and very valid. I don’t think my point is any different though.
2
Sleepingguitarman 4 days ago +2
Deciding it's a good idea to get into a hottub while under the effect of Ketamine could also probably be considered a mental disorder.
2
Express-Citron-6387 3 days ago +1
And a lot of booze as well.

Absolving the dealer of all accountability is literally advocating for drug dealers.
-4
AsherahEnd 4 days ago +6
Do we charge liquor stores if some idiot buys a fifth, drinks it, and then goes and crashes and kills someone? No. Because that's f****** stupid. Because it's clear an adult purchasing and using something is their choice.   This would also be going nowhere if it weren't Matthew f****** Perry who died. If the drugs weren't laced or something then this is just wrong.
6
frostbird 4 days ago -2
Your ignorance is SO apparent. Go read actual information about the case, ffs.
-2
AsherahEnd 4 days ago +4
That's funny, you just say I'm wrong and insult me. I know the case. I stand by my statement. This is stupid.
4
frostbird 4 days ago -3
Okay well a judge says you're wrong.
-3
SkunkySammy 4 days ago +4
Brother you’re not giving anything to help your side of the argument
4
AsherahEnd 4 days ago +3
Wow you sure told me. As if judges and even the law are infallible. Act seriously or just f*** off.
3
frostbird 4 days ago +1
No man it really is illegal for doctors to prescribe drugs to addicts knowingly instead of looking out for their well-being. You'd know that if you studied the case.
1
Sleepingguitarman 3 days ago +1
Addicts can be prescribed controlled substances so long as the doctor doesn't suspect they are misusing that prescription.
1
frostbird 3 days ago +1
Yes? Go read the court documents
