Me too. I still rremember the day. But I'm also wondering when we'll have any reconciliation for the hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths caused by covid under the Trump regime? My grandma was one who had many years left in her, but died from the mixed messaging and confusion Trump and the GoP caused during their culture war that still grips the Nation.

>But I'm also wondering when we'll have any reconciliation for the hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths caused by covid under the Trump regime?
*Never*
But why?
If politicians can be held legally accountable for harm caused by their decisions, if they counteract experts and push ideological wins based on known lies and false statements that cause immediate and preventable harm, why, you'd have cause to incarcerate nearly the *entire Republican Party*. A good chunk of the Democratic party too, but far less.
Large swathes of most legislative, executive, and judicial positions.
It probably should happen, but to happen, it basically requires Republicans to say "yes, we should go to prison because of our actions" and then change laws to increase their own accountability. I'd say *fairly unlikely to occur*.

> But why?
One reason is the Supreme Court ruled that Trump is above the law.

They are themselves implicated by such a rule or policy.
If they make a ruling that is against what experts recommend in the field, that they know is going to cause imminent, preventable, unnecessary physical harm to others, they are themselves just as culpable and legally liable for the harm inflicted upon others.
Given that they are known perjurers and who's indefensible actions (the shadow Docket is indefensible by its nature, and Trump vs United States shows that they are acting as active co-conspirators) have been used to shield abusers from accountability, it is far past time for various states to simply say "no. You want us to follow a ruling, you need to explain it. If you rulings cause imminent harm, we will support charges against you under our state laws."
It's the natural consequence of complete immunity.
Useful in theory, extremely damaging for a society in reality. It just defends the indefensible, until enough people get enraged enough to toss out the system using that defense.
The US was quite literally founded on what happened when a legal system lost all its legitimacy.

The first 9/11 I was here for I got so mad because politiciams were putting out these statements of remembrance and I was just like... How f****** dare you? This isn't yours.

I’m glad you got there. A number of Australians died on 9/11. I spent the day consoling a friend who couldn’t get in touch with her parents, who were supposed to be staying at the Marriott World Trade Center that day (turned out they were stuck on a train between Boston and New York).
New York City is an international city; this was an international event.

That's interesting as it was my senior year and I remember all of my peers interactions but I don't think I can remember off hand more than 10 adults total. I did sleep in that day. I woke up about 5 mins before the second plane hit from a text asking where I was and if I heard about the crash. Such an odd day. I always stopped at a bar down the street after school to ask for cigarette donations for needy kids from the regulars and it was the only day the women didn't chase me away when they saw me. They even let me burn a few watching the news with them.

36
YouHaveAWomansMouthApr 24, 2026

If this is a joke, hahaha.
If it isn't, no. The previous ambassador had much more experience, was actually on good terms with the Trump administration, and wasn't a corrupt POS who **without fail** brings disgrace on himself and those who appointed him every time he's given an important job - he is currently three for three on that.
As clever tactics go, appointing Mandelson was like Starmer setting fire to his house to save on central heating bills.
15
TemnothoraxApr 25, 2026
+8
You do not get in the good graces of the Trump admin without being a corrupt POS, unless you are Mamdani for some reason.
8
YouHaveAWomansMouthApr 25, 2026
+2
Well, despite serving as the ambassador to Joe Biden's administration from 2020, Dame Karen Pierce was still popular with the incoming Trump administration.
One of the senior Republican campaign advisers called her "universally respected", and Trump himself told Starmer he wanted to keep Pierce in place.
There are no scandals attached to Pierce whatsoever, unless you include the fact that a respected and effective ambassador was ousted in favour of a self-serving slimeball who predictably got caught being corrupt **again**, for which obviously no blame attaches to her.
So, yes, you can actually work effectively with Trump's administration without being a corrupt POS, and we know this because our previous ambassador was doing it. Replacing her with Mandelson was not a clever tactic, it was intended to be a cushy job given as a reward to the man who helped Starmer and McSweeney get where they were.
Obviously it blew up in their faces, and they deserved it.

3
MetalBawxApr 25, 2026

Yes but it's stopped nose diving and that's mostly due to how he's handled Trump though considering the biggest scandal for Keir now is the fact he tried to bring one of the most corrupt shitheels in British politics, Peter Mandelson back into the fold is tied to that well it might start dropping again.
By the time Keir offered Mandelson the US ambassador posting he was all but confirmed of being a diddler and as more of Epstein's emails came out it turned out the b****** had flat out sold the UK down the river during his negociations with the United States so now Starmer is trying to pretend he didn't know the guy nicknamed "the Prince of Darkness" was dodgey.,,
I feel sorry for Charles taking the blame for going on this trip when it's practically an order from the Prime Ministers office.

The way the nato nations responded to 9/11 is how I know trump is one of the most un-American citizen to ever darken the United States. Operation yellow Ribbon conducted by our Canadian brothers to temporarily house as many Americans as possible while they were flying back to the United States only to find out our airspace had been closed to everyone was nothing more then the true definition of hospitality and support of another nation.
And in the United Kingdon, in a historic break from tradition, Queen Elizabeth II ordered the Royal Guard to play "The Star-Spangled Banner" on September 13, 2001, just two days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The military response to stand up for one another even though in hindsight we can see the fallacy with the u.s. waging war. There just no way you can be a patriot and support this immature child in office.

For the last time- the US did not, and never has, invoked Article V.
On 9/11 the NATO Secretary General (a Brit at the time) reached out to the US unprompted and suggested it would be politically helpful to invoke it. The US said it had no interest in making a request to do so but said it would not object if NATO decided to declare it.
The NATO council then debated it and decided to invoke it.
Stop spreading misinformation.

King Charles the king of a historically Christian country had nothing to say to his Christian countrymen on Easter but he did have a touching Ramadan message.
Joining hands with Mamdami in New York in memory of a jihad attack on American soil is a complex political message that the King is no longer representing history or Christianity but has surrendered to the expansion of the Muslim order and serves as a reminder that "the powers that be" think you should, too.
