English-Speaking countries especially US, would never know how popular was this Austrian tv show here in Europe. I think in Europe everybody knew this show during it initial run. Even those who didn’t watch it in Europe knew what it was. Being a kid i really loved this show about dog police and his human partner solving crime in Vienna. Those who watched it how well do you remember it? Also tell where are you from to see which country has seen it.

Australian here - it wasn't a massive hit but i certainly watched it on SBS (tv channel) when is was a kid. It was called Inspector Rex.

I cannot think of a more popular non-English language show in Australia before Squid Game, dubbed cartoons excluded.

My parents watched it (in German) on SBS Australia, back in the day. They loved it.

What a coincidence. A revival series premieres on April 13 on German and Austrian TV. Six 90-minute episodes, weekly. Maximilian Brückner plays Rex's new partner.

Hudson and Rex is the Canadian version I know it's quite popular. Until I watched 2 popes I had no idea it was international adaptation

Hudson and Rex wrote in one episode that it was based on original austrian Kommisar Rex.

UK here, we got it as “Inspector Rex” dubbed to death, but I was obsessed anyway. Peak 90s TV: moody detective, genius dog. Kind of want a rewatch now.

 Norwegian here. I remember watching this religiously as a kid, like I made that show my personality for a long ass time. It wasn't immensely popular, but it was pretty well known overall. I did a rewatch a few years ago and the nostalgia hit hard, but it was also still great fun!

man that show was huge when i was a kid too, watched it religiously with my dad - we're from the midwest and somehow it made it onto our local PBS station, rex was basicaly the german shepherd version of lassie but way cooler

Wow. To reach midwest and catch it on PBS is really something in US.
