It wasn’t even her first f*** plane. As South Dakota’s governor she upgraded the states executive aircraft, purchasing a newer plane for roughly $4.7 million. Then she proceeded to use it for a lot of non-state business. Some of the personal use of the plane was to travel to Republican Party events, fundraisers, and family-related trips, including visits to the NRA, Turning Point USA, and the Republican Jewish Coalition, alongside a trip to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with family. And a lot of trips to Mar-a-Lado. And travel to Texas to get new white teeth in exchange for her making an ad for the Texas dentist. She was investigated in 2022 but she was cleared by the states Division of Criminal Investigation who found the tampering of flight records to cover up the personal travel “negligible.” She did a lot of sketchy stuff as SD governor, which may have been a selling point to this administration. My wife and I looked at a lot of states as possible retirement locations. I was always in love with the Black Hills. We got to know about a dozen folks from a nice small town in the hills. That helped us determine that the whole area was not for us, as they were all, without exception, rabid conservatives to the point of being a bit crazy. The other thing they had in common, as they were typically business owners or land owners, was a belief that federal agencies they dealt with, BLM, Forest Service, etc. could not be trusted as far as you could throw them, as they would lie, cheat and steal to do whatever they wanted, They also were quite aware that their state government was comically corrupt, to the point that once you reached a spot in the state legislature, the law was there to protect you, but it did not apply to you. Telling any prominent SD local that the state is investigating one of their own, usually ends in a laugh. Doesn't matter if it's Janklow mowing a biker over at while speeding through a stop sign, and on;y sitting in a county jail for 100 days after the uproar following the state trying to sweep it under the rug., or Krusty Noem running the place like a mob boss, it is what the residents have come to expect.

I think based with their religious background that early on in their marriage she did a bunch of shit for him that she did because she was a “good wife.” She knows, I’m sure. Now that she “wears the pants” in the marriage, they have some form of arrangement where she gets to have an affair and kept his secret. In Christian circles having an affair is loads better than being into k**** shit. Can’t get a divorce if you’re “Christian,” so they stayed married and she did her shit and he did his. Its a play but one that puts them over a barrel. They both would need to get out of their marriages to be able to invoke it and be married by the time the trial starts. That means Noem and Lewendowski's current partners now have leverage to ask for more lest they draw the divorce out, and in this case if Noem is the leak her husband has no reason to play nice since she's already gone scorched earth to try to look like the women scorned. If there is salacious stuff where maybe she was into it or they were engaged in other forms of consensual kink he can air it out and paint her not as a woman surprised by her husband being a "freak" but a willing and ready participant who now wants to play the demure maiden. The conservative sphere is far more likely to crucify her for being sexually experimental than him since he could just go the "I was reborn in Christ's love" route and have his sins washed away.

One thing I’ve learned from growing up in San Francisco is cross dressing doesn’t discriminate, lots of different types of people have a thing for it. I had a very religious conservative roommate who secretly wore women’s panties when he was home, he’d bend over and you could see the panties creep over his belt line. Eventually got drunk and brought it up to him and he was pretty honest that he enjoyed wearing women’s clothing and had since he was a kid. Could have ruined him with his group of friends but outing him but never did. I think he was just a very confused and conflicted person who struggled to accept himself. I sometimes think there is at least a few right wingers who are terrified to be themselves and have a little jealousy for people who aren’t ashamed to be who they are.

I don’t know what his deal is, but if crossdressing was a blackmail risk it’s only because of GOP bigotry and the need to keep it hidden (maybe hiring sexworkers is a bad look but they deserve dignity and as long as it’s consensual etc). I hate that the headline blames crossdressing/ being trans as a national security risk when it’s transphobia and pressure to keep one’s nature secret that is the real risk. My dad spent 80 years as a closeted trans person. She had a very successful career but keeping that part hidden meant not pursuing what she really wanted to do, and it meant me and my siblings never quite feeling close to my dad (though we never doubted we were loved). Her coming out, and being able to understand and see her as she truly is has meant the world to my family and I wish that safety and joy for every trans person. Also, Kristi Noem can eat all the shit.

It’s not that cross dressing itself is a blackmail risk. The risk comes in when it’s something the person in a national security position would be embarrassed by or would want to hide. For Kristi noem, that’s probably having a cross dressing husband. Or her affair with Corey lewandowski. Had they been open about it, like she was about killing a puppy for no good reason, it wouldn’t be a blackmail risk. Before your dad came out as trans, that would be a blackmail risk. It was something they wanted to keep hidden, and therefore could potentially be used as leverage by a bad actor.
