The ad isn't what got her fired. Her saying that Trump approved the ad is what got her fired. She never learned the one rule of having a job in MAGA: you cannot ever blame Trump for anything. As unintuitive as it sounds, if you fall on your sword, you will survive.

aradraugfea Mar 25, 2026 +217
Mob rules. You can turn an orphanage into a meat packing factory, but as long as you never implicate the boss, there will be a job waiting for you once you’re back on the outside.

PlatformVarious8941 Mar 25, 2026 +105
She still has a job. A stupid bullshit job at the shield of america, but a job nonetheless.

DookieShoez Mar 25, 2026 +38
Well yeah, if he completely cuts her loose she might start talking.
38
Broken-Digital-Clock Mar 25, 2026 +5
And the orange one doesn't have to admit to hiring a shitbird.
5
truePHYSX Mar 25, 2026 +3
The age of mobsters and gangsters never went away, instead they became politicians.
3
gpouliot Mar 25, 2026 +2
Exactly.  When they know where the bodies are buried, you have to keep bribing them so that they don't make things even worse for you.
2
Bloodbndrr Mar 25, 2026 +56
This is what everyone keeps missing. She wasn’t fired. She was reassigned to a job with less visibility.
56
EddieVanzetti Mar 25, 2026 +21
Just like ICE is still in LA and Minneapolis, they just announced manlet Greg Bovino was retiring and slightly reduced the number of ICE agents.
21
Lanky-Highlight9508 Mar 25, 2026 +4
loving "manlet"
4
SpaceJackRabbit Mar 25, 2026 +3
She was demoted. Like Bovino.
3
Expensive-Brother-91 Mar 25, 2026
Exactly. Which is actually a win-win for her. Less visibility and less accountability.

DonkeyPunchCletus Mar 25, 2026 +5
It's not a win, what are you talking about. She isn't a shrewd business owner that wants to stay out of sight out of mind while he plunders to his hearts contents. Kristi wants attention. Did you not see her airport commercials? She wants to be a celebrity. She wants to be important. She doesn't want to be in a remote job where nobody sees her. That's what they do with workers they want to get rid of in Japan. Your post reminds me of some maga twitter comments on the twitter announcement when it happened that said she got a promotion. These people are writing their own fiction in their head. From director of DHS to do nothing fake job doesn't sound like a promotion to me.
5
Expensive-Brother-91 Mar 25, 2026 +3
Dude, I'm literally on your side, what the f*** is your problem? No need for a three paragraph essay to argue on something this pedantic.
3
DonkeyPunchCletus Mar 25, 2026 +2
I am sorry if the post came off as aggressive. I wasn't agitated when writing it. Just wanted to add some context. I didn't mean you were maga, your post just reminded me of the couple twitter posts I saw and I was laughing at those, not you. I edited it a bit. Kristi being quartered off in a do-nothing job is the best case for America. We don't see her and she doesn't get to do more damage. This is a huge win for everyone except Kristi. Mullin doesn't seem much better, let's see how long he holds out.
2
FullMetalAlcoholic66 Mar 25, 2026 -2
> Dude, I'm literally on your side, what the f*** is your problem? No need for a three paragraph essay to argue on something this pedantic. You consider 3 paragraphs, 125 words an ESSAY. This generation is cooked. Can you not pay attention to something for more than 30 seconds? No reasonable discussion can be had in two or 3 sentences unless you want a completely shallow, moronic, intellectually sterile hot take where you spend all of 5 seconds thinking about something until it's your turn to talk again. Social media is destroying rational thought and replacing it with vibes Well, I've reached the 3rd paragraph, so I know you've tuned out.
-2
Expensive-Brother-91 Mar 25, 2026 +1
Ever heard of an exaggeration? I probably read more on a daily basis than you do in a month, but go off. My god you're weird.
1
rvretiredlife Mar 25, 2026 +5
Again why must we keep paying her. We need to demand she be removed from any govt job and govt pay! Period
5
vlatheimpaler Mar 25, 2026 +4
No, she doesn't have a job. Shield of the Americas? It didn't even exist until this month. Nobody knows what it is. Her job is "special envoy" to Shield of the Americas? That's not a job. That's a saving of face for her, but also for Trump. He likes her overall job performance in ICE and doesn't want it to seem too much like she's being fired, so he creates a new office that has no responsibilities and does nothing.
4
PlatformVarious8941 Mar 25, 2026 +18
Congrats, you’ve just described a bullshit job.
18
Watsons-Butler Mar 25, 2026 +7
There even an official word for it: a sinecure.
7
Greatsnes Mar 25, 2026 +5
….. is she getting paid for it? Undoubtedly. She isn’t doing it out of the kindness of her heart. Is it tax payer money? Of course. So who gives a f*** if she’s doing something or not. She’s getting paid. Way to focus on the wrong shit.
5
Spirited-Lifeguard55 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Probably people were laughing at Trump firing everyone he handpicks because he is incompetent, so to not admit it he makes up weak excuses instead of proving them right.
1
JohnGillnitz Mar 25, 2026 +1
It was a school, but yeah. These kids have parents that are still pissed that their kids got blown apart for no reason.

She didn't even get fired, she changed offices. "All you got to do is keep changing your job title. Like from C***** Executive to Food and Beverage Chairman."
25
HoamerEss Mar 25, 2026 +7
Joe Pesci voice "he named himself Tangiers Public Relations Director, but the only fuckin thing he ever directed was the c*****"
7
vlatheimpaler Mar 25, 2026 +4
Look, she's a person who craves spotlight. And in her previous job she got plenty of spotlight. Special Envoy to the Shield of the Americas? At a \*minimum\* that's a huge demotion. But I still argue that it's not even a real job. I would still argue that she got fired and that was a face save.
4
movealongnowpeople Mar 25, 2026 +25
>if you fall on your sword, you will survive. Lmao no, Trump doesn't even honor that. RIP Giuliani, Chesebro, the MOOCH, etc. May you all rot.
25
vlatheimpaler Mar 25, 2026 +10
Okay, fair enough. I got that part wrong. :) Falling on your sword doesn't guarantee your survival. But failing to fall on your sword guarantees you're done. Also, I can't help but notice all those people are from his first administration. That was when there were still some adults in the room in the administration who maybe told him, "this looks really bad" and he let go of people. But so far in this administration there has been significantly less turnover than the first time. And this time he made sure to surround himself entirely with brown nosers, so I can't help but wonder if that's why.

Shocking to think that it's only been 317 mooches since scare-my-mooch was canned 8 years, 8 months ago for the metric folks

The sad part is, like everyone else, Scaramucci has failed upwards into the talking head circuit and probably makes an even better living now.
1
AntoniaFauci Mar 25, 2026 +1
FYI, Scaramucci was absurdly wealthy before that appointment and he was actually somewhat of a less bad faith actor than his predecessor and the other choices. I’ve known him a long time and he will argue so-called conservative values without resorting to the levels of MAGA insanity. If not for the restaurant meltdown situation, he would probably have been relatively decent. He didn’t “fail upwards to talking head circuit” that’s a world and function he did *more* before than now, and he did it as dogmatic choice, not really as a job.
1
Psychological_Top148 Mar 25, 2026 +10
Trump expected the ad campaign to prominently feature his own image not hers. The campaign was intended to warn illegal aliens to leave our country now or face deportation with the inability to return to the United States. International ads were supposed to warn criminal illegal aliens not to come to America and break its laws or they will be hunted down and deported. Noem on a horse with national park backdrops were more inviting than intimidating. Trump expected his scowling mug to be run on radio, broadcast, and digital, in multiple countries and regions and targeting illegal immigrants through social media, text message and digital. Noem’s downfall came from placing her own image above the Trump’s own.
10
SwingNinja Mar 25, 2026 +6
Saying "Trump approved the spending" implicates Trump for something that's most likely illegal. It was a pretty smart questioning by the Dems during the hearing (it's a trap question). The context when this happened wasn't 20k on horses per title of the article. It's 220 million with secret boyfriend's company.
6
Psychological_Top148 Mar 25, 2026 +3
It definitely was smart questioning on the part of the Dems. My point is that Trump did ask for an ad campaign similar to what she had done as Governor but she was too full of herself to understand that Trump was supposed to be the main character not her. He would have bailed her out instead of throwing her under the bus if it was his pic plastered all over airports. Illegal? Add it to the list of things congress wouldn’t take him to task over with his SCOTUS Free Pass.
3
T2ThaSki Mar 25, 2026 +2
Give him credit for every single thing positive, but never even mention his name if it’s connected to anything negative.
2
AntoniaFauci Mar 25, 2026 +1
It’s quite possible he did approve the advertising campaign, at least in concept and price.
1
Broken-Digital-Clock Mar 25, 2026 +1
She didn't cut him in on the scam.

If you go out to eat with friends and you chip in for the tip, do you consider yourself as having tipped the wait staff? We all chip into a huge pool that is divided across the budget. Meaning we've all paid to shoot people in wars. We've all paid to house prisoners. We've all paid to fix potholes. So, yes, we all paid for her $220M grift.

4
bearbrannan Mar 25, 2026 +1
It would be one thing if it was only 20K that was what got her fired, but she spent 220 million dollars on that ad, those horse accounted for less than 1 percent of the total budget. Whole blockbuster movies are made for less than 220 million. Meanwhile I'm over here kicking myself for turning down the offer to work on one of her commercials back when she was governor, because I didn't want to work on right wing propaganda, and now I'm wondering if it would have opened a door for me to get in on this f****** commercial grift she had going on.

That will probably start to cover Iran’s reparations

This dollar amount sounds about right for transporting and rental of high quality horses. The rich people horse world operates with "f*** you" money that is difficult for an average person to even comprehend.
19
Made_Human_Music Mar 25, 2026 +12
I wish they’d stop saying she was fired, that implies she faced consequences instead of just being transferred like a priest who molested kids gets moved to a new parish

Quote: "Other costs included $20,000 for horse rentals and $3,781 for hair and make-up. The labour costs were $107,405. Videography cost $52,599 and a magic store based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota — the state Mount Rushmore is in — was paid $500." The total of the above listed expenses is $184,285.00 $220,000,000 - $184,285 = $219,815,715

“The state Mount Rushmore is in” is doing a lot of work here- they are 400 miles apart. I am SUPER curious what she bought at a magic store though.

Can BBC get the 20-part documentary going on the Trump admin, already? Maybe it needs 30 episodes, I don't know. So many juicy nuggets of corruption and idiocy, we need the last semblance of classic media makers to catalogue this circus. Power of Nightmares needs a sequel. Of course they would need to lawyer up, but it'd be worth it! The new series can simply be called Nightmare.

I would like to know what happened to all of the footage that was being captured. Often at that stage, you'd see some crew following ICE around recording things from their perspective. Not phone recordings, but serious cameras. It wasn't all simply for these ads she did. Many months ago, there was this story alleging that Noem and others were looking into turning this stuff into some sort of reality TV series. The presence of those cameramen made that seem incredibly likely to me. She wanted to turn this into some sort of even grosser version of COPS.
