Brings back memories of playing the Krull arcade game.

When young me discovered you could juice your score by being running juuuust in front of the slower falling rocks in the avalanche levels, I won a lot of cred at the campsite snack shop that summer vacation.

rhubarbarino Mar 26, 2026 +7
Brings back memories of playing video games at the campsite snack shop. Joust was my jam.
7
scratchydaitchy Mar 26, 2026 +6
I liked watching others play Joust but I couldn’t get the hang of it and sucked. I was good at Xevious though.
6
Slugdge Mar 25, 2026 +10
I looooved that game and still boot it up on emulator once in awhile.

DarthCola Mar 25, 2026 +85
I love the shit out of this movie. Unironically absolutely find this to be one of the best 80’s fantasy films ever made.

wriker10 Mar 25, 2026 +26
One the best fantasy films ever made regardless of decade!

Enoch-Of-Nod Mar 25, 2026 +15
It's probably been close to 30 years since I've seen this one, but I remember loving it. I suppose it's about time for a rewatch.
15
darcys_beard Mar 25, 2026 +10
I rewatched it a couple of years ago after a 35+ year gap. Did... Not... Disappoint!!!

CGI_OCD Mar 25, 2026 +9
The score is fire too.

Elexandros Mar 26, 2026 +9
I still randomly pull up Ride of the Fire Mares when I need motivation.

Let's play Spot Liam Neeson in this scene!

James Horner never disappoints.
1
SailorET Mar 26, 2026 +5
This and Excalibur top my list. Interestingly, both feature a young Liam Neeson!
5
DarthCola Mar 26, 2026 +1
I keep seeing this insane Excalibur blu ray at the movie store near me. Perhaps I should pick it up.
1
BoringBarnacle3 Mar 26, 2026 +1
You must have it!!!
1
pantstoaknifefight2 Mar 26, 2026 +1
I never foresaw this!
1
dudinax Mar 26, 2026 +1
Yes. You got to let Excalibur be Excalibur though.

Krull, Beastmaster, and Neverending Story
1
litritium Mar 26, 2026 +1
Every movie with pew pew lazer beams was a pure win for teenage me in the 80s. Even Condorman from 81 became a favorit [because of pew pew boats.](https://youtu.be/d1dFIn06tyY?t=111)
1
spiderglide Mar 25, 2026 +18
If Krull hadn't worked out, the lead actor would have made a great Richard Chamberlain impersonator.

phxkross Mar 25, 2026 +11
He made me gay. Ken something. *Slobber*
11
AffectionateBox8178 Mar 26, 2026 +9
He is fantastic and unrecognizable in Star Trek Deep Space Nine, other than the voice.

darcys_beard Mar 25, 2026 +13
Some of the best scenes of all time are in this movie: this, and the widow of the web scene. Amazing movie. Was on a par with Star Wars for me as a small kid. The remake seems to have stalled but that may be a good thing.
13
Flashy-Fig-9246 Mar 25, 2026 +32
Arthurian Sci-Fi was such a WTF fun time! Also a very cool shout-out to this film in Ready Player One. My bro and I still quote this movie randomly after burning through a couple of VHS copies. "Only the king and his lord marshall carry this key!" "Rocks in our pockets and gravestones over our heads is all we will get from this journey" also RIP to that one cool character who sacrifices himself for the squad and a young Liam Neeson.

xSorry_Not_Sorry Mar 25, 2026 +7
The >!cyclops.!< Yeah, that one hurt.
7
Dr-Mumm-Rah Mar 26, 2026 +3
He knew what he was signing up for.
3
CGI_OCD Mar 25, 2026 +3
Ngl. When they pulled out the Glaive in RP1 i got emotional. Based.
3
Flashy-Fig-9246 Mar 25, 2026 +3
Hahaha SAME! I turned to my girl (who looked at me with a blank stare - not having any idea about Krull) and totally did the leo once upon a time in hollywood meme lol
3
ViolentSpring Mar 25, 2026 +6
I f****** LOVE this movie. Easily the best of the post-Star Wars run of films in the 80’s. (Dragonslayer is also great and I consider The Neverending Story on its own accord)
6
Second-Order Mar 25, 2026 +6
Hmmmm....yes. A tiny net is a death sentence. It's a net. And it's tiny. Hmmmm.
6
MonolithicBaby Mar 26, 2026 +9
I love how pleased the red shirt guy is after he knifes the netted monster.
9
pendarn Mar 25, 2026 +6
My father always took me movies like this. Remember it kinda freaked me out to seen those slugs comming out their head
6
blankedboy Mar 26, 2026 +7
The concept of there being some weird slug/snake thing piloting the suits rather than actual people inside of them was so cool to me as a kid. Very alien and weird idea that I absolutely loved.
7
Zimtros2 Mar 25, 2026 +6
When that pitchfork flies through the air is so badass.
6
MolaMolaMania Mar 25, 2026 +21
I loved this movie as a kid, and wanted my own Glaive SO badly! Planning to get the Blu-Ray at some point.
21
darcys_beard Mar 25, 2026 +12
I wanted a Glaive more than I wanted a lightsaber.
12
DefiantDung Mar 25, 2026 +6
For years, every stick I saw was examined as a possible Glaive.
6
eschewthefat Mar 25, 2026 +5
If we could have just left it at the glaive then I’d be carrying one today instead of a stupid pocket knife, but once again mall kiosks had to ruin a good thing
5
Yolandi2802 Mar 26, 2026 +1
My son has the glaive tattooed on his elbow..
1
thirstygregory Mar 25, 2026 +11
Little me was super sad at the nice cyclops getting mashed in the wall.

Love love love this movie!
4
PleasantThoughts Mar 25, 2026 +4
Watched this on acid and it was the ride of my fuckin life. Shout out young Liam Neeson looking like the prototype for Post Malone.
4
mynameizmyname Mar 26, 2026 +1
some motherfuckers are always trying to ice glaive uphill
1
StudentGlum8838 Mar 26, 2026 +1
That scene is pure 80s fantasy cheese and I love it. The swamp sets, the costumes, the weird creature design... its all so wonderfully practical and gross. Peak vibes.
1
soulteepee Mar 26, 2026 +1
I worked in Times Square back then and I remember an advert suddenly appearing. I’m like ‘KRULL’? What the heck is that? This is back when they still plastered stuff on the side of buildings.
1
London__Lad Mar 25, 2026 +3
That cast. Liam Neeson, Robbie Coltrane, Alun Armstrong
3
MuffinMatrix Mar 25, 2026 +10
Is there any context to why you're posting this particular clip? Anything to discuss or add about a scene from a 1983 movie? I love Krull, but posting random clips with no context or additional info is getting old in this sub.
10
SixFootTurkey_ Mar 25, 2026 +27
It's engagement farming. At least the random clips are entertaining scenes from actual films, and not just some chatgpt essay.
27
MuffinMatrix Mar 25, 2026 +9
Ok thats a decent point. I'd rather actual clips of good movies than someones lame AI rant.
9
crosstrackerror Mar 25, 2026 +3
Anything is better than the shitty ChatGPT essays presented as original thought.
3
bramtyr Mar 25, 2026 +4
The mods have done a pisspoor job or just simply don't care. The number of hollow "Thoughts on \[Movie Title\]?" farming posts drives me bonkers.
4
bonsaithis Mar 25, 2026 +9
I'm glad they posted it, I forgot all about this film and enjoyed watching this scene, it was a great one to post too, oozing with atmosphere and great visuals. Immediately made me want more of it.
9
Von-Konigs Mar 25, 2026 +2
I’ve never seen it (it’s a bit before my time), and this clip made me curious to watch it
2

Thanks for making me feel old...

Your back didn't post this
2
Pale-Pumpkin7833 Mar 25, 2026 +2
Oh man, what a soundtrack. I'm adding this to my watch list.
2
Raznilof Mar 25, 2026 +5
Early James Horner is such a complex presentation of writing and orchestration - he wrote the whole score in three weeks if not mistaken (while ill). And it is packed in throughout the film, very few scenes don’t have music. Loved this as a kid.
5
CaptainFrugal Mar 25, 2026 +1
So many jumps
1
copperwatt Mar 25, 2026 +1
Wow they really wanted some of that Star Wars money huh.
1
Android1822 Mar 25, 2026 +1
I remember watching this movie as a kid in the movie theaters and loved it.
1
Limberpuppy Mar 25, 2026 +1
My mother watched this so many times when I was growing up.
1
azurianlight Mar 26, 2026 +1
I still love those axes Torquil and Kegan use!
1
jaybomb40 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Loved this movie when I was younger, haven’t watched in ages
1
joshhupp Mar 26, 2026 +2
For the longest time I thought he used the glaive in this scene. My childhood imagination was pretty active. I was bummed watching as an adult that he never really uses it in the movie. This would be such a badass remake with today's technology.
2
vex311 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Fk the hates! I love this Movie!!!
1
stratguy1957 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Pew! Pew!

I was 11 when I saw this in the cinema. Such a glorious time to be alive.
1
Gunslinger510 Mar 26, 2026 +1
I might catch some downvotes, but I really wouldn’t mind a modern remake of this
1
madsci Mar 26, 2026 +1
I love how the desperate fleeing at 0:17 is just a shuffle lest they run out of sound stage.
1
Doctor_Sore_Tooth Mar 26, 2026 +1
A critic once said 'krull' was like if you asked somebody to make a 'lord of the rings' movie if they never read the book I love Krull personally
1
Baxmanpsu26 Mar 26, 2026 +1
This won some awards right?
1
Deraj2004 Mar 26, 2026 +1
To bad the prince went on to betray his uniform.
1
Grotbagsthewonderful Mar 26, 2026 +1
Bloody hell, look how young Alun Armstrong, Todd Carty and Robbie Coltrane all look. Alun looks hot, there's something I never thought I'd ever hear myself say 😆.
1
SteelCrucible Mar 26, 2026 +1
I remember watching this as a kid and being confused. Is it fantasy? Scifi? Both? Star Wars had laser guns and laser swords. That made sense. This had laser guns and axes? It just didn't add up. If the bad guys had Indiana Jones on their side the movie would have been over pretty quick.
1
ripyourlungsdave Mar 26, 2026 +1
I feel like this movie might be a bit different than I assumed it would be. I'm not sure where the image I had of it in my mind came from now. Maybe my brain just put together an image of it based on the name alone.
1
twoton1 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Austin Powers: "Frickin' laser beams!"
1
DoopSlayer Mar 26, 2026 +1
I got to see this in an imax theater it was so much fun; trying to remember what the double feature was. Maybe Krull and Dark City? Feels like the last Flash Gordon style movie

This film both fascinated and scared the shit out of me as a 7 year old. The deaths, visuals, the atmosphere…really a stunning movie.

Commander Eddington had a wild youth before he joined Starfleet.

I loved that movie as a kid.
1
mastermindchilly Mar 26, 2026 +1
I love Krull. It also contributed to my generation’s irrational fear of quick sand.
1
ComicsVet61 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Saw this in the theater opening weekend. We walked out. So bad. Core memory bad.
1
LeftSky828 Mar 26, 2026 +1
See? These bad guys are so much better than Storm Troopers.
1
Imaginary_Try_1408 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Holy shit. That's a young Robbie Coltrane.
1
DeathByBamboo Mar 26, 2026 +1
It didn't occur to me when I saw this as a kid, but Krull is basically D&D Spelljammer.
1
ButterscotchMajor373 Mar 26, 2026 +1
I totally forgot that Alysa Liu’s hair was in this movie!
1
hoof_hearted-28 Mar 26, 2026 +1
I was so afraid of spiders after this movie.

Is this a rip off of the Lord of the rings?
1
Rags2Rickius Mar 26, 2026 +1
You left out the creepy part where the Beast kills the Sage and replaces him
1
Old_Network_3064 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Man, that swamp scene always felt so grim. I still remember the mud and the overall vibe, it's classic 80s.

Teacher from Willy wonka!
1
Expensive-Sentence66 Mar 26, 2026 +1
The film was a bit of a mish mosh of different genre's but I liked its production design and it had a lot of heart.  Interestingly surreal in places as well.
