While everyone in the comments is likely going to point out the hypocrisy in a celebrity calling for climate related action while cruising in a yacht, you should still absolutely do this. It's still a good thing to do. Pretend your mom asked you instead.

While I do agree with what you’re saying, this is getting a vote today. The call to your rep should have been over the last several weeks. This is performative.
26
agingcausescancer Apr 22, 2026 +112
Leo has been advocating for endangered species for longer than some people on Listnook have been alive. And the house today has delayed the vote.

gettums Apr 23, 2026 -21
He should ask his rich boyfriend, bezos, for some money to pay the right people off. These rich fucks pay to have everything else their way.
-21
Plane_Massive Apr 23, 2026 +18
Yeah! F*** the rich! I’ll make the endangered species pay for what they’ve done! That’ll show them!
18
MOSbangtan Apr 22, 2026 +65
It’s not performative. He’s literally been an advocate for decades. Christ.

petes117 Apr 23, 2026 +2
Yachts use renewable energy though
2
ThunkAsDrinklePeep Apr 22, 2026 +189
The endangered species act is in the way now? There is no end to the greed of these f****** dragons.
189
mr9025 Apr 23, 2026 +12
They’re goddam caricatures of supervillains
12
ThePLARASociety Apr 22, 2026 +23
Thats an insult to Dragons.
23
ThunkAsDrinklePeep Apr 22, 2026 +13
Oh yeah. Dragons would blush at their greed.
13
Mother_Airline_6276 Apr 22, 2026 +79
Which rich a****** benefits from this law being removed?
79
KidDelicious14 Apr 22, 2026 +68
Oil execs
68
ThunkAsDrinklePeep Apr 22, 2026 +27
Plus any that would brag that they shot the last living elephant.
27
Operation_Neither Apr 23, 2026 +10
And hotel / golf course developers.
10
ctmets1988 Apr 22, 2026 +5
Leo himself would benefit. Prices would come down for gas for his yacht and other things he has
5
Flamingogo117 Apr 22, 2026 -3
So basically we would all benefit
-3
noguarantee1234 Apr 22, 2026 +13
Yeah, sure, for a little while. Then we kill off more species and continue to collapse the global ecosystem.
13
Flamingogo117 Apr 23, 2026 -2
Sarcasm isn't your thing I guess
-2
noguarantee1234 Apr 23, 2026 +3
Apparently irony is yours.
3
ctmets1988 Apr 22, 2026 -1
True. But then hed talk about Climate Change and want the regular citizens to change their ways while he doesnt lol
-1
Most_Tangelo Apr 23, 2026 +9
Also while the environmental impact of yachts and private jets aren't great. Especially compared to the average person. Even individual celebrity environment impact is negligible to the scale of corporations. Like just because he's not a perfect advocate doesn't make it a message not worth advocating. You can both criticize him for his bullshit and agree with him for things that aren't bullshit.
9
hicktown33 Apr 23, 2026 +1
The ones Leo will still be buddy, buddy with after all this.
1
Flounced Apr 22, 2026 +99
I’ve already reached out to my representatives, Leo. How about you ask your buddy Bezos to stop paying off the politicians so we can actually save the Endangered Species Act.

It’s already been pulled from the floor - as it had opposition in its own party. Adding in - stay vigilant! This is the third attack on the ESA in the last year.
12
simplebirds Apr 22, 2026 +33
Anybody here complaining made that phone call yet?
33
Bag_of_Meat13 Apr 22, 2026 +6
Doubt it.
6
weezerwiggles Apr 23, 2026 +5
We’ve got like 99 existential threats going on at all times 😓
5
braxin23 Apr 23, 2026 +2
That’s how conservatives work to make life as hard as possible so they can f*** you over as hard and irreversibly as their little venomous hearts can.
2
Complex_Peak8204 Apr 23, 2026 +5
A lot of people complaining want the message coming from a hippy living in the woods with zero tech. Which is f****** idiotic. He is right about this while being a tool.
5
Sudden-Volume-5711 Apr 23, 2026 +5
The billionaire hypocrisy is a tired distraction—yeah, we know the system is rigged, but that doesn’t mean we should just let them torch the ESA while arguing about yachts. Call your reps anyway, because if the only “victory” these assholes get is making us too cynical to act, they’ve already won.
5
greysweater72 Apr 23, 2026 +3
I hope he’ll ask folks to call reps about the gutting of the Forest Service as well
3
whisky_woman23 Apr 22, 2026 +10
He has the money, throw money at it. But still call your reps.
10
RealWord5734 Apr 22, 2026 +22
He throws tons of money at this issue, but he can't throw votes.
22
TheShamShield Apr 22, 2026 +5
The source of this isn’t great, but the message is still true
5
Embarrassed_Radio596 Apr 23, 2026 +2
This is where I put a foot down and say the law doesn't matter except for deciding who stops you. If you're hurting an endangered species, and the government won't stop you, I will. So will others. And it's going to be a lot less pleasant for you than if the government did it.
2
braxin23 Apr 23, 2026 +2
Oh but then you’re an “eco terrorist” when it’s the companies literally tearing up the land who terrorize and placate everyone into submission.
2
Embarrassed_Radio596 Apr 23, 2026 +2
Unfortunately true.
2
braxin23 Apr 23, 2026 +2
Amen to that.
2
Bag_of_Meat13 Apr 22, 2026 +7
Who the hell cares if he's a hypocrite. He's already doing more than most of you.
7
noturaveragesenpaii Apr 23, 2026 +4
Like we arent all f****** hypocrites more often than we realize?!

[https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/leonardo-dicaprio-faces-major-backlash-043000164.html](https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/leonardo-dicaprio-faces-major-backlash-043000164.html) "According to Luxury Launches, every day cruising on Koru "burns close to 24,000 liters of fuel and emits around 63 tons of CO₂, roughly 13 times the average person's annual carbon footprint in just 24 hours." Dudes an eco hypocrite.
14
mymemesnow Apr 23, 2026 +2
The vast majority of rich/famous people do equally bad things *and* doesn’t use their reach to urge people to do something. I personally think it’s marginally better and should be encouraged.
2
OnTheFenceGuy Apr 22, 2026 +3
But that doesn’t have anything to do, directly, with repealing the endangered species act. Yes, he’s a hypocrite. But he also happens to be right on this specific topic. And, if someone as famous as him is what it takes to get the message across, I’m all for it.
3
OldSandwich9631 Apr 22, 2026 +2
It’s not even his yacht and by the way, his foundation is going to team up with theirs to save endangered species. The New York Times reported that during their recent profile of Lauren Sanchez. He’s been friends with Lauren Sanchez since he was 19 or 20 apparently. Not sure why everyone assumes the connection to this couple is through Jeff
2
Practical-Sleep4259 Apr 22, 2026 +2
It's almost like "fighting to save an endangered species" is a great cover for "destroying the planet with a lavish lifestyle". "Why does it matter if he clearly doesn't care at all", because it stops being activism and turns into self interests.
2
OldSandwich9631 Apr 22, 2026 +8
He has done a ton of work over the years to save endangered species. The facts are facts
8
Practical-Sleep4259 Apr 22, 2026 -2
He pollutes the ocean daily in magnitudes far beyond typical human capability, remorselessly. If I am burning down one side of a rainforest I don't get credit for the small piece I publicly announce I am saving on a different side. If fact it would just be very obvious what I am doing which it is.

He owns a different Yacht and recently chartered a more expensive one for an event. You are wrong, and stupid, and incorrect.

Surroundedonallsides Apr 22, 2026 -2
Leave it to a leftist to make every ally the great satan.
-2
Practical-Sleep4259 Apr 22, 2026 +5
I'm not a leftest you honeybakedbumpkin. I'm most likely both more conservative AND more liberal than you, like normal people are depending on what you are asking them about at the time. You Venn-diagram-dummy
5
Surroundedonallsides Apr 22, 2026 +1
LOL says the bot account
1
World_Designerr Apr 22, 2026 +4
>Dudes an eco hypocrite. And you're not doing anything about it which makes a bigger hypocrite
4
BFsMomsCancer Apr 22, 2026 +7
theyre doing more by not burning burns close to 24,000 liters of fuel a day
7
World_Designerr Apr 22, 2026 -3
As of they had the option to do that and chose not to do it. Be f****** real
-3
GreatGojira Apr 22, 2026 +2
Hypocrisy from the real damage private yachts do to the environment passing the buck to average people. When he has more money than the average person to make more of a difference.
2
blindreefer Apr 22, 2026 +11
He’s using his fame to ask people to make a phone call. Not donate money.
11
thirdLeg51 Apr 22, 2026 +2
1) what does anything you just said have to do with the endangered species act? 2)One person on a yacht is not going to do anything. He does have more money which is why he fights for the environment. What will do more good, trying to get laws passed or being on a smaller boat?
2
GreatGojira Apr 22, 2026 +3
His net worth is $300 million at least. He can do a lot more than my $45,000.
3
thirdLeg51 Apr 22, 2026 +2
And he’s trying
2
GreatGojira Apr 22, 2026
I'm saying he has more of a chance to make to difference than the average nobody.
0
thirdLeg51 Apr 22, 2026 +3
When he makes movies with a strong CC message or speaks in front of the UN, that’s average to you?
3
jerem1734 Apr 22, 2026 +2
Leo's done more damage to the environment with his jets and yachts than a normal person would do in multiple lifetimes lol
2
GravelRoadJunkie Apr 22, 2026 -4
In the end the true danger to endangered species is damage to the planet, Leo cruising around in Yachts and Private Jets does far more damage, he’s a hypocrite.
-4
thirdLeg51 Apr 22, 2026 +5
No. Whatever a company does is a way worse than any one person can do. Removing regulations and laws just makes it easier. You want to vilify him when he is doing the work to make the world better.
5
iamtheCarlos Apr 23, 2026 +4
Surprised Leo cares about this act, it’s way over 25 years old.
4
MenacingGummy Apr 23, 2026 +5
Shut up Leo. Ask your bff Bezos to make a call.
5
astro-dog-78 Apr 22, 2026 +4
lol, how many private jets has he taken?
4
atreidesspirit Apr 22, 2026 +3
Did he make that request from his mega-yaht?
3
Hey_Giant_Loser Apr 23, 2026 +2
It would be nice if guys like him would actually get all the way into the game of what's going on in this world, instead of just chiming in on their vanity issues
2
Jehuty321 Apr 22, 2026 +3
25 year olds for everyone!
3
glenntennis12 Apr 23, 2026 +2
You should do it. But f*** this guy. You can’t preach this and then travel around in private planes and yachts
2
pwhazard Apr 22, 2026 +1
Endangered species… unless they are over 25 years old. Then he doesn’t care
1
braxin23 Apr 23, 2026 +1
Haha ha funny it’s almost like we love the idea of f****** over the planet more than actually taking care of it because it’s “ordained” by god right?
1
Specialist-Web-9216 Apr 22, 2026 +1
"they're close to extinct and we're more important anyway" I wouldn't be surprised if that could be directly quoted with the current administration
1
skunksignals Apr 23, 2026 +1
This gives Ghislaine Maxwell in her TerraMar era. We see you Leo, and no one has forgotten that you’re a monster ✨
1
braxin23 Apr 23, 2026 +1
“But then how are we gonna dismantle our world for the trillionaires ordained by god to rule over the earth and its inferior people?” Some evangelical probably.
1
HoraceGrantGlasses Apr 23, 2026 +1
Im not saying hes wrong or his cause is bad, but how many existential threats do us regular ass people have to fight?
1
SenseisSifu Apr 22, 2026 -6
The grift is strong with this one
-6
OldSandwich9631 Apr 22, 2026 +23
Go look up his foundation re:wild. He legitimately funds the upkeep of endangered species all over the world and has for years. I’m pretty sure there was one species he single handed funded for a while. I’m honestly fed up of people talking out of their asses online.
23
NotAnotherBlingBlop Apr 22, 2026 -15
He also flew on a private jet to Jeff Bezo's wedding, one of the worst polluters in the world.
-15
OldSandwich9631 Apr 22, 2026 +2
How do you actually know that? You are just assuming that. He likely did charter a plane or fly in with someone else. But he doesn’t actually have his own jet
2
NotAnotherBlingBlop Apr 22, 2026 -11
I think you're missing the point. He could've walked there, doesn't change that he rubs shoulders with one of the world's worst polluters.
-11
OldSandwich9631 Apr 22, 2026 +1
Who is also one of the most powerful people who can put lots of money behind causes he cares about. Are people really this dense? I’m starting to think so
1
NotAnotherBlingBlop Apr 22, 2026 -2
If he's such a saint, why doesn't he give his money away like Mackenzie Scott has?

-2
Ok-Turnip-9035 Apr 23, 2026 -2
I get this is a good thing but then I pause and think of all the other stuff going on and notice Leo is silent on that - I can’t pin him down on what he stands for I love he backs his costars and puts people on but he’s so silent on other things affecting his fellow Americans
