Thought Lin did such an amazing job at Tick Tick Boom so I'm seated. He clearly has a good eye for direction but also knows how to adapt a musical properly knowing how to balance respect for the original work while making changes to make it more suitable for film.

What a rouge choice of musical to adapt to the screen! But how exciting and I can’t wait to see what Lin brings to this, I thought Tick Tick Boom was really good.
Always exciting to see a Dave Malloy project. Will be interesting to see how they bring/translate the a Capella aspect of it to the screen. Can’t wait!
Here’s to hoping we one day get a Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 adaptation, however tricky that maybe!

There was a colorism controversy. Washington Heights is like 50% Afro-Latino, especially 168th up when you leave the Columbia area. People were confused why it looked so differently from the real thing

Why would you, though? He made a Broadway show, it’s insane to want to compare his work to an actual hip hop album unless he was actually trying to sell his work as a hip hop artist. But he’s not, he’s a Broadway songwriter. You need to compare his work to other Broadway shows.
