I absolutely love new diaries and idea of collecting them. Every new year I buy a new year planner, productivity planners etc. but the problem is I never write, I just write for a day or two and most of my diaries are blank. I feel, writing is not my thing but the idea of buying new diaries is!
Is I am making sense? Anyone else feel the same?
You can try different things, no need for full sentences and reflections. Maybe a doodle a day, or one word, or Something good that happened that day. It takes a bit until you've built a habit, but its really nice to do a daily ritual.
You could even do it in the mornings, writing something down you're looking forward to that day.

I tried writing affirmations. But lasted just for a week

Maybe you can mix all different mediums? Maybe doodle one day, stick a ticket stub the next, there's no right or wrong way to do it. And a few missed days isn't failure!

Yeah, that actually makes perfect sense 😄 you don’t like writing, you like the idea of writing. And honestly, a lot of people are like this. There’s something really satisfying about a fresh notebook, the clean pages, the feeling of “this is the version of me who has it together.”
It might just be that traditional journaling isn’t your thing, not that you don’t like expressing ideas. You could try lowering the barrier, like writing just one sentence a day, making random lists, doodling, or even using it more like a messy brain dump instead of something structured. Or honestly, just accept that collecting them is your thing and enjoy it for what it is, not everything has to turn into a habit to be valid.

I usually buy 2-3 diaries/planners a year. One for work, one for personal use and one spare if needed.

totally get that! it’s the thrill of having fresh notebooks that’s exciting, even if they end up collecting dust. maybe try jotting down quick thoughts or doodles instead of anything formal?
