I feel like he portrayed Dewey perfectly even tho Dewey wasn’t fully around. It made total sense tho. I wish we got more episodes but I know Frankie said this was like a goodbye to Malcolm

Idk feels like a set up for something more if the numbers do well.... At least I hope so.

A spin off about Francis and Piama being Middle-Age Parents and taking care of Leah while Malcolm is running for congress or something.

FictionFantom Apr 11, 2026 +6
Piama is back? Definitely watching now.

ColonelQuaraitch Apr 11, 2026 +8
Yeah, she and Francis did great.

It’s always that. “Frankie Muniz says HELLO again to Malcolm for a 10 million dollar payday!”
31
clipclopping Apr 11, 2026 +28
Whatever, if he wants to get paid and people want to watch, it doesn’t hurt anything.
28
Old_mystic Apr 11, 2026 +8
Absolutely, don’t hate the player…

Klutzy_Smile_5285 Apr 11, 2026 +12
I guess you could say the script moved him....TO A BIGGER HOUSE

Mentoman72 Apr 11, 2026 +3
He’s not getting 10 million dollars for playing Malcolm lol. I’d take more episodes anyway, the reboot was pretty good.

dlbayyarea Apr 11, 2026 +1
This is what you call a reboot or a revival. Everything was f****** perfect. And I think some of their original crew members came back as well and I do like that Bryan and Jane were EP’s. I wish we got more episodes, but there’s like rumors going around that. This is like Frankie’s goodbye to Malcolm because he is super focused on his NASCAR career. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I have been watching a few of his interview, interviews promoting the show when he does bring that up a lot.

dracovich Apr 12, 2026 +1
Dude is 40, I don't know shit about Nascar but surely you don't keep driving much after 40?
1
dlbayyarea Apr 12, 2026 +1
He looks good for his age and idk tbh I never got into nascar haha. I was always more into baseball.
1
dlbayyarea Apr 11, 2026 +2
Yeah, I don’t know. I just keep seeing rumors that Frankie is saying goodbye. It does look like he is super focused on his NASCAR career. I’ve seen a couple of his interview interviews recently and he does bring that up a lot. It would be cool if they do like a specific spinoff with someone in the family, but the original people and crew need to be involved like they were with this revival because it was perfect for me. I been reading comments that people don’t like that Malcolm’s friends were gay but in the original series it kind of gave hints that they were you know especially the classmates who had a weird fascination for him

Its a set up for a show about the 6th kid and Malcolm's daughter having adventures. The network is weighing it out right now.

bjevans0120 Apr 11, 2026 +316
He did a great job. They used his character sparingly and who Dewey grew up to be fits perfectly with who he was as a kid. The whole show was great, I just wish it was twice as long.

Hayterfan Apr 11, 2026 +57
Same, like it almost feels like the first half of a season. But I'm just glad we got more, and if this is a goodbye (like Frankie has said) I'm fine with everything ending here.

FitLaw4 Apr 11, 2026 +14
Can you describe his character? I dont have hulu in the country im in.
14
Courwes Apr 11, 2026 +42
He was barely in it. All his appearances except one was over video call on a laptop. Pretty sure they were planning on having Erik reprise his role and this was a work around for him not having to film with everyone else. He could just record his lines and be done and they edit them into the show. Anyway the excuse was he was a touring musician which is why he couldn’t be there in person and seemed to have a persona of a ladies man as he was always talking about different women he was seeing

Look movie 2 . To Remove the spaces. That’s where I stream everything for free. Just have a good ad blocker preinstalled

to add, [https://tbcpl.lol/](https://tbcpl.lol/) has a list of good streaming sites. Again, use adblock (like firefox and ublock)

BenQ200 Apr 11, 2026 +45
I mean they showed Dewey for like 5 minutes total in the 4 episodes so he didn’t get much of a chance to f*** up
45
Any_Asparagus8267 Apr 11, 2026 +23
When they showed the baby brother in the navy I was more shocked by that then Dewey, I said out loud is that the baby from the later seasons? Lol
23
Ginway1010 Apr 11, 2026 +13
The casting was great. I could totally believe that Anthony Timpano was a grown up version of the kids that played Jamie and had to double check IMDb that he wasn’t one of them.

Anishinaapunk Apr 11, 2026 +15
The "fan service" I was *really* hoping for, though, would be one more cameo of the hamster rolling by in the ball.

Look at the table when the confettis falling ;)

I just watched it last night and you expect me to ok I'll watch the whole thing again.

BrosefDudeson Apr 11, 2026 +127
If nobody told me they switched actors I wouldn't know. Reese however....
127
dashauskat Apr 11, 2026 +103
Reese's mannerisms were exactly the same as in the OG show.
103
MaineSoxGuy93 Apr 11, 2026 +89
And his voice sounded like he just filmed the last season a week ago. He didn't miss a beat.
89
WalrusExtraordinaire Apr 11, 2026 +69
But Reese is the same actor? Unless you’re making a joke because he looks different as an adult than many expected
69
BrosefDudeson Apr 11, 2026 +55
I'm making a joke
55
RabidJoint Apr 11, 2026 +13
Yeah, I read it as you would definitely know if they changed his actor. Not even a joke, but more of a statement.
13
Big_Gassy_Possum Apr 11, 2026 -5
The new Reese reminds me of the kid that played the little brother Ross in Unhappily Ever After, except grown up.....

FuzzyScarf Apr 11, 2026 +7
He’s not new.

I thought it was the same human. Great casting

Away-Requirement-3 Apr 11, 2026 +9
I like to think that Dewey just left the family because they always ignored and mistreated him so they replaced him with a fake Dewey and pretend he never left

menacingsparrow Apr 11, 2026 +6
Accessible page here: https://archive.is/r2s4a I’ve seen this guy do improv in Calgary. Very fun.
6
AndySellsChicago Apr 11, 2026 +3
I roomed with the guy for about 3 months during an improv intensive in Chicago. Great guy, still in touch
3
Plastic-Entry9807 Apr 11, 2026 +8
Instead of a lookalike they should've gotten Ryan Gosling
8
UrbanGimli Apr 12, 2026 +2
your suggestion reminds of that time the Community cast did a script read for Charity and Pedro Pascal played Pierce. It was hilarious.

InformalFishingSong Apr 11, 2026 +26
Casting directors and shit prolly told him for years to get surgery to pin his ears back. Glad he didn’t cuz it paid off!!

BakedWizerd Apr 11, 2026 +3
I’m glad people are enjoying this revival but it was just not for me.
3
jennbo Apr 11, 2026 +5
It pissed me off because it was fine to replace the actor, it’s been decades, but then they barely use him in the show? It doesn’t make sense to me. The interactions between Reese, Dewey, and Malcolm specifically were pretty lacking
5
neuronexmachina Apr 11, 2026 +54
I think they barely used his character *because* the original actor declined.
54
Yenserl6099 Apr 11, 2026 +37
Yeah a story came out a couple days ago that the reason Dewey is on a laptop so much is because they tried up until the very last day to get Erik Per Sullivan back
37
Anishinaapunk Apr 11, 2026 +4
I respect Erik's choice to decline for his own reasons, but god, I really do miss and admire that actor.
4
jennbo Apr 11, 2026 +4
I understand — what I’m saying is that there’s no reason to barely use the character just because they recast the actor. He looked really similar, seemed like a good enough actor. Occasionally characters have to get recast for whatever reason; I can’t think of any examples why that causes someone to basically not use the character. (thinking of Roseanne having to replace the eldest daughter and then the original actor even eventually coming back!) Just a bad decision from the creators or producers or whoever.

mikezer0 Apr 11, 2026 +5
It was clearly originally written so they could fit Erik Per in somehow. Also the actor who replaced Erik is like 6'3. Hes really tall. Erik Per is pretty short like 5'7. Probably would have been pretty jarring. It just would have been hella obvious it's not the original actor.
5
Doorsofperceptio Apr 11, 2026 +2
I think it's because the original actor played Dewey for years and thus knows his character perfectly and thus how to behave.  The new actor doesn't and so they limit him to scenes where he's able to pull off the one element we all know defines the family; their wild arguments. That's something he can easily tap in to. But asking him to do scenes on his own and flesh out the character when he is the only replacement is asking a lot.
2
meaniemeanie-poo-poo Apr 11, 2026 +2
I is smart. I thought it was him; figured he changed his mind about returning 😬
2
Chu_Kiddin_Me_Or_Wha Apr 11, 2026 +2
I generally don’t believe in rebooting projects if the original casting isn’t intact. This is no exception.
2
poststalloneuk Apr 12, 2026 +1
I've watched two episodes and can't stand it and this guy is maybe one of the worst parts lol
1
TechGuy42O Apr 11, 2026 +1
Why did they replace the actor though?
1
no_quarter89 Apr 11, 2026 +8
The original actor didn’t want to do it.
8
lobido Apr 11, 2026 -37
Reese looks so terrible. Shoulda replaced him with someone that resembled him when he was a kid.
-37
maddy_k_allday Apr 11, 2026 +8
I haven’t watched but would like to point out that sometimes adults look worse than when they were children 😅
8
lobido Apr 13, 2026 +1
Annnnd, that's my point. No longer fits the character.
1
HamburgerSink Apr 11, 2026 +10
Reese killled it. Get out of here with that nonsense. His voice literally didn’t change
10
lobido Apr 13, 2026 +1
Missed my point entirely. He looks like Barney Fife now. Doesn't work for the character Reese used to be.
1
cowsintheclosetIG Apr 11, 2026
His voice might not have changed, but since when is Reese a little b****? I remember him being the tough older brother badass punk kid. Maybe I'm remembering wrong?
0
hey_there_moon Apr 11, 2026 +9
Well they're not kids anymore and he's a washed up loser who can't just use violence to get his way.
9
kelferkz Apr 11, 2026 +2
His voice and mannerisms were exactly the same, the writing and makeup departments are the ones to blame, not the actor
2
lobido Apr 13, 2026 +1
Reese looks like he has been starved.
1
thiswasmysixthchoice Apr 11, 2026 -140
The original kid was a terrible actor so this guy couldn’t really have been worse.

I liked Dewey. Him and Hal together was always gold, they went wild.
