I f****** love this movie. One of the best spy films I’ve ever seen. I love the characters and the style Guy Ritchie brings to the film.

Agreed. It's full of style and fun vibes. Really breezy film.

still genuinely angry we never got a sequel to this. the wardrobe, the soundtrack, the chemistry... guy ritchie cooked so hard and the box office completely failed him. such a wasted franchise tbh.

I am surprised that Ritchie has made a lot of films since in the same style and not all of them were hits. Why not make a sequel to this film which has demand already?

Maybe having actual cannibal Armie Hammer as the second lead was a factor?
1
Landlubber77 Mar 29, 2026 +1
They should replace him with actual cannibal Shia LaBeouf.

kaminop Mar 29, 2026 +1
Maybe a movie about two cannibals chasing their next feast!

The demand is not large enough to justify the budget.

Landlubber77 Mar 29, 2026 +1
They gave him 75 million for the first one with literally no one clamoring for a movie adaptation of that property, then 50 million and 60 million respectively for similar projects, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (the spiritual sequel to U.N.C.L.E.). I feel like there's a studio somewhere that would've hypothetically greenlit a sequel, and I say hypothetically because it ain't happening in this universe with Armie Hammer's weekend activities coming to light.

Same happened with Rock n Rolla. One of my favorite films for the same reasons I love this one. And the box office failed it spectacularly.

Landlubber77 Mar 29, 2026 +1
That one still hurts, but I'm holding out hope he still gives us another go with RocknRollas at some point. One thing that seems to plague Guy Ritchie is titles. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre? I saw that and still don't know what the hell it means. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare? Better but still a moutfull for general audiences. It's like the Shawshank Redemption: > The title The Shawshank Redemption is widely believed to have hurt the film's initial box office performance in 1994, with star Tim Robbins noting that audiences found it hard to remember or pronounce. The title was considered unappealing and failed to convey the film's content, causing it to underperform and struggle against competitors like Forrest Gump. Somebody's gotta sit Richie down and be like "we're gonna handle the titles from here on out."

If you find the Shawshank Redemption hard to pronounce you just might be stupid. Or you have a speech impediment.

I used to hate Toby Kebbell until I saw him in that movie. Casting is lowkey one of Ritchie's production team's strengths.

I genuinely believe he took it to the heart and said f*** cooking imma just cash in from now on, and it shows

They need to replace Hammer with Glen Powell and get this show on the road
1
Landlubber77 Mar 29, 2026 +1
I'm still not sold on Glen Powell, and the returns on The Running Man sorta show that the movie-going public aren't either. He's not quite on the level of terrible of Sam Worthington and Jai Courtney, but Hollywood is doing a similar job of force-feeding us Powell like they did those guys. If they replaced Hammer it would likely be with Alan Ritchson, who has the same general size that character needs, and who Guy Ritchie already tapped to play sidekick to Henry Cavill in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
1
RVarki Mar 29, 2026 +1
I'd be okay with either one, to be honest
1
Landlubber77 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Shit at this point I'd take Sam Worthington or Jai Courtney if it meant getting a sequel.
1
skarby Mar 29, 2026 +1
Glen Powell has infinitely more charisma than Sam or Jai

DinnerAndLunch Mar 29, 2026 +1
Hard agree, Glen took some time for me to admire but he's in it for the love of the game
1
FighterJock412 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Yeah he really pulls off the "I'm the handsomest guy in the room and I know it" vibe.

Pimpwerx Mar 29, 2026 +1
The soundtrack goes so hard in this movie. It definitely deserved a sequel.

TheLaughingMannofRed Mar 29, 2026 +1
Not just the loss of a sequel. Cavill was 31/32 here, and the fact he was playing a Bond-esque kind of agent really had shown that he could have taken over in place of Craig after Spectre that same year. He would have come in possibl around mid/late 30s had he stepped into such a role before COVID (Craig was 38 for C***** Royale, but Cavill would have still beat Brosnan, Moore, Dalton who were all in their 40s when they stepped into the IP).

This movie was great. I don't care what anyone else says.

Boss452 Mar 29, 2026 +1
I don't think that is an unpopular opinion. In fact this movie has a cult like following. Not exactly super popular, but it has a small fanbase and those folks are still hoping for a sequel.

dwehlen Mar 29, 2026 +1
Imma. . .*cough, cough*. . .it right now. Never saw it before. Is it as tongue-in-cheek as the original show?

ExecutiveCactus Mar 29, 2026 +1
Do both you and me a favor and make it the next movie you watch. Bonus for HDR/DV and a sound system

dwehlen Mar 29, 2026 +1
Best I can do is headphones and 1080p. And tree fiddy.

silvertwo777 Mar 29, 2026 +1
What did anyone else says?

One of these actors became Superman, one of them became Lara Croft and one of these actors became a real life cannibal It really sucks that Armie Hammer turned out to be an IRL cannibal he is in so many great movies including Man from Uncle but it really ruins the immersion seeing him in these films now as all I can think about is that he's a cannibal and how disgusting that is
1
Combine54 Mar 29, 2026 +1
He didn't. Innocent until proven guilty.
1
dwehlen Mar 29, 2026 +1
Are you suggesting that Armie Hammer is Actual Cannibal Shia LeBeouf?! I strongly suspect there's something I don't know about, here.

dwehlen Mar 29, 2026 +1
Hmm. Interesting. Sounds like it's just alleged.
1
One-Feedback678 Mar 29, 2026 +1
It's text messages. Who knows if he's actually done it but he basically confirmed the text messages were real
1
dwehlen Mar 29, 2026 +1
Yeah, but right off the bat he stated he didn't eat human flesh. Honestly, it's not easy to pull off (unless you slow cook 'em).
1
NeonAnderson Mar 29, 2026 +1
He confirmed they were his text messages and a few people came forward all confirmed to be his text messages I didn't believe it at first but once he admitted they were his messages but his defence was that it was joke then yeah at that point it is more than just allegations Also I don't know if mentioned on the article I linked but one of his other ex girlfriends came forward and when they were together she had plastic surgery to remove one rib for waist shrinking surgery and he asked to have the removed rib so he could chew on it 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 And again this is all confirmed to be legit his defence was solely that these were taken out of context and that it was some kind of inside joke that he somehow had with multiple different women.... I don't know about you but I've never asked for another woman's ribs and joked about wanting to chew on her bones.....

Such a great movie! I know we'll never get a sequel but maybe a reboot of the TV series?

dragula15 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Replace him with Reacher and no one will bat an eyelid EDIT: was meant to be a reply to the comment about it being a shame Armie Hammer IS A F****** CANNIBAL
1
RVarki Mar 29, 2026 +1
I was thinking Glen Powell, but Alan Ritchson might be an even better choice

*The U.N.C.L.E.s of Ungentlemanly Warfare* Such an unexpected crossover!

Chased, but never pressed.

Hot take: The Title stopped this movie from being a general success, despite how good the film actually is.

Such a good movie man.....

Eastbound_Pachyderm Mar 29, 2026 +1
Ministry of ungentlemanly warfare is what this movie wanted to be. Cavill was amazing in this. Hammer always gave off weird vibes. Something about it just didn't click and while it was visually stunning, it wasn't as good as it should have been
