I've met Cody. He has a trucking business in pinedell.
They love hunting and he seems to have a drinking issue.
Thing is Pinedell has now been overtaken by rich people who may not have an issue reporting him for drinking or hunting compared to the tight knit Wyoming ranch towns.
Really low life shitty thing he did.

I stopped in this bar a couple years ago not long after this happened. The bartender was out of her mind and they had Trump signs all over the front. It’s the kind of place you would see Sasha Baron Cohen go into and put it into his movie.

You mean Daniel, WY.
It does have a weird look and feeling to it. I spent a while very close to the town and I never stopped once.
Pinedale on the other hand was a decent area, but a bit expensive. $18.00 for a quart of oil at NAPA.

It's like a thing here to see who can bring the most outlandish animal into the local bar. My wife was at the bar in our town and a guy brought a baby bison in which was actually super awesome. I have a buddy who has made it his mission to see how many bars across the state he can bring his horse into. Not talking riding his horse into the parking lot, talking walking into the bar with the horse.

We stayed at a hotel in New Orleans and every night a local policeman would ride his horse through the open front door and the horse would belly up to the bar and get the snacks the bartender had waiting for him.

Wyoming broke 71.6% for Trump in 2024. The state senate is 29-2 and the state house is 56-6 in favor of Republicans. It's not a big stretch to say that a bar outside of Cheyenne is probably gonna be a maga bar.

I would drive 3,000+ miles from IL to WA x2 per year as a college student. Went through South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho. It was an astonishingly beautiful drive. One of my first college buddies was from Cheyenne.
This was 2004-2008, so I was actually reading local printed newspapers out of interest of what was happening. Every time that I parked in Montana or Wyoming, the local papers were all like, “is it legal to shoot your neighbor’s dog?”
In those areas, animals aren’t considered “fur babies,” they’re considered things that you shoot.

> I would drive 3,000+ miles from IL to WA x2 per year as a college student
I guess im an idiot but this is such a weird way to word this to me. Its like 2000 miles, so round trip its 4000, so 8000 miles per year for two round trips from il to wa. So yes, 8000 is more than 3000 but I was just confused at the significance of "3000+" miles. Maybe from the absolute farthest ranges possible its 3000? I did Unionville to Neah Bay which is about as far as it can be and it wasnt even 2500 so i dont know lol

Appreciate the feedback, calculating on Google Maps, you’re definitely right. Since back in that time I was not yet an adult introvert, I definitely visited friends in MT, WY, etc. while driving across the multiple states on multiple days, so it presumably lengthened my trip (and my mom was like, I’ll kill you if you try to do it in one shot). I was printing out MapQuest, which gave my total route at 3.3K, but I won’t dispute that your numbers seem correct!

You get this sort of thing when the judge really wanted to punish you more but the law wouldn't let him. So the judge sets it up so he has the choice between being a model citizen, which he isn't, and getting nabbed on a probation violation.
It's technically lawfare, since he's being led headfirst into a legal trap and set up to fail, but it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I mean that quite literally.

Animals classified as predators in Wyoming can be taken on sight, no license required; this includes jackrabbits, amusingly. With the reintroduction of wolves to Wyoming in the 1990s, in an agreement between the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Wyoming Game and Fish, a dual classification system was worked out where wolves would be classified as trophy game and couldn't be taken without a license inside a defined area of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (with such licenses basically impossible to get), but classified as predators in the rest of the state. Since predators can just be taken on sight, there wasn't much a prosecutor could do originally, as Wyoming Game and Fish, as the investigatory agency with jurisdiction didn't charge him with any illegal taking, because there was no illegal taking, and G&F have no statutory authority to enforce state or local criminal law, which is where animal cruelty statutes are, thus a grand jury indictment was necessary.

Wolf licenses inside the trophy zone are sold over the counter for $20. Individual hunting areas have a wolf quota. Once a pre determined number of wolves have been killed, the season closes in 24 hours (or something close to that number). It’s usually 2-6 wolves per hunt area and those numbers vary year to year. Problem wolves depredation on livestock are killed by the government.

ChemsAndCutthroats2 days ago

If they want to be in the 1800's so much perhaps they should live like it. Make it so that they have to hunt and fish like they were in the 1800's. No snowmobiles or ATVs, no fancy rifles with thermal optics, no 100k pickup trucks, no drones, and no modern hunting gear. Let's see how those fatasses do in the elements without modern technology. Perhaps other animals outside of cows and sheep will have a chance to live in that state. Wyoming is basically a small part rich part-timers coming to enjoy their cottages once a year, cows, and oil.

He did this in a bar full of people, people who cheered on the torture of an injured animal. His aunt, who owns the bar, is proud of what happened. His wife took pictures of herself in wolf skins gloating about her husbands actions. These are not people who should be accepted in any polite society. No one should give them any business. They should be shunned by everyone.
If they can do this in a public setting I shudder to think what these monsters do behind closed doors.

If you hit a deer with your car, the humane thing is to put it out of its misery. You don't strap it to your car, drive to a bar, and beat it to death. That's cruel and unusual animal abuse. Doesn't matter if it's a rat, cat, dog, deer, wolf or any living thing. You don't let wounded animals languish in pain and misery for entertainment. So when a backwards inbred piece of scum, lower than a cockroach missing 5 legs, runs over a wolf with a snowmobile, and hauls it to a bar to torture...they shouldn't have offered any deal at all. That should have gone through full trial to make an example of what the worst of a human will get for such deplorable acts.

I don't really care if killing animals leads to killing people, that whole narrative is irrelevant imo. Hurting animals is wrong. Period.
