So would the US.

Trump said this yesterday……. “It’s not possible for us to take care of day care, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things,” Trump said. “They can do it on a state basis. You can’t do it on a federal. We have to take care of one thing: military protection. We have to guard the country.” - Trump The reason we approve a $1 trillion annual defense budget is to fund the military, which allows the federal tax revenue to then support essential programs like Medicare and other services people actually rely on.

Funny how captialisim gets us to the same point (technically lack of regulation, corruptions, and facism). But we're becoming the libertian dream of... <*checks notes*\> Somalia.

Everything they have said to try and demonize Iran could be applied to themselves. Don’t get me wrong, Iran doesn’t need a brutal theocracy ruling the country...and neither does the US.
23
Arrmadillo Apr 2, 2026 +7
The US doesn’t want a brutal theocracy, but the New Apostolic Reformation evangelicals surrounding Trump and peppered throughout his administration sure do, and they’re using Iran as a model. Christian nationalists are ruining the country as they race to consolidate control over the government. Salon - [Fighting demons: The New Apostolic Reformation is waging a holy war against democracy](https://www.salon.com/2024/10/20/fighting-demons-the-new-apostolic-reformation-is-waging-a-holy-against-democracy/) “Unlike earlier incarnations of the Christian right, the explicit goal of the widely-discussed but little-understood NAR is to install theocracy with a democratic facade, approximately on the Iranian model.” The Atlantic - [The Army of God Comes Out of the Shadows](https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2025/02/new-apostolic-reformation-christian-movement-trump/681092/) “And people who have never heard the name are nonetheless adopting the movement’s central ideas. These include the belief that God speaks through modern-day apostles and prophets. That demonic forces can control not only individuals, but entire territories and institutions. That the Church is not so much a place as an active ‘army of God,’ one with a holy mission to claim the Earth for the Kingdom as humanity barrels ever deeper into the End Times. Although the secular establishment has struggled to take all of this seriously, Trump has harnessed this apocalyptic energy to win the presidency twice.” Washington Spectator - [God and QR Codes for Trump; The Courage Tour Goes to Michigan](https://washingtonspectator.org/michigan/) “Not all Pentecostal churches have been politicized, but the New Apostolic Reformation is functioning almost like a political party, and one with an extremist agenda.” Salon - [I Went to a Pro-Trump Christian Revival. It Completely Changed My Understanding of Jan. 6.](https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/09/donald-trump-2024-president-election-shooting-christians.html) “They’re gathering by the thousands. They’re growing fast. They believe that Democrats are possessed by demons—and that Donald Trump must be president again at any cost.” “They believe that under Trump’s protection, American Christians will rise up, defeat their demonic enemies, and take their rightful place of power in the country.” Mother Jones - [Christian Nationalists Dream of Taking Over America. This Movement Is Actually Doing It.](https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/10/new-apostolic-reformation-christian-nationalism/) “They believe that Christians are called to wage a spiritual battle for control of the United States. In the vanguard of an ascendant Christian nationalist movement, they are seeking an explicitly Christian command of public schools, social policy, and all levels of the government, including the courts.”

-11

So what? Iran has it bad so we should give up everything in attacking them? No.
9
Ancient-Dust3077 Apr 2, 2026 -7
Well US citizens have it better than Iranian citizens because they have a worse government. So Rubio is right. sure US should spend more on our own citizens, but we don't have it nearly as bad as lot of countries

these people are everything they accuse Iran of being. It is true about the Iranian regime...and it is true about ours....we are killing people under the orders of a guy who says god wants us to do it... "Military cemeteries around the world are packed with brainwashed dead soldiers who were convinced God was on their side. America prays for God to destroy our enemies. Our enemies pray for God to destroy us. Somebody's gonna be disappointed! Somebody's wasting their time! Could it be.. everyone?" --George Carlin

Petrol was 1 cent per litre in Iran before the war. Downside was it is run by intolerant theocratic extremists In the US, petrol is heading towards $5 a gallon and that's also run by intolerant theocratic extemists

Hell Marco, you can say the same thing about the USA.
5

Funny how Republicans acknowledge how this applies to people in other parts of the world, but not American citizens. Is this the American exceptionalism they keeps talking about? Everyone *except* Americans? It’s almost as if Republicans hate Americans.

ive lived there for a month, would rather be in US. it's not a easy place to live
1

And now that war crimes are being committed against it's populace, its even harder to live there. Great job, US!
1
Ancient-Dust3077 Apr 2, 2026 +2
I thought iran did genocides to their own citizens, and they are bombing their neighboring countries. Didn’t they have it coming? Do you really support Iran over US?
2
Etzell Apr 2, 2026 +2
It's possible to believe that Iran shouldn't be doing what they're doing AND that the Trump administration has repeatedly shot itself in the d*** and bungled this entire situation.
2
Ancient-Dust3077 Apr 2, 2026 +1
yes, but I believe iran is far worse than US and the fact this sub is not hating on Iran and is rather hating on US more is concerning. https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/iran-protest-death-toll-could-top-30-000
1
Etzell Apr 2, 2026
Iraq was far worse than the US, that didn't make that war justified, and that one was significantly better-planned than this clusterfuck. Same situation in Iran, except dumber.
0
Phase3Investor Apr 2, 2026 +2
You thought wrong
2
Ancient-Dust3077 Apr 2, 2026 +1
from a simple google search: reports describe the systematic killing of protesters, with estimations of over 30,000 deaths as of January 2026, often carried out under severe internet restrictions. https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/iran-protest-death-toll-could-top-30-000 If you support Iran over US, help me understand why?
1
Shadowholme Apr 2, 2026 +2
It's simple in my case - I don't support ANY outside interference in another country's internal politics, because once you find an excuse to do it once you can find an excuse to do it to any other country. Nobody agrees 100% with another country's politics - hell they don't agree completely with their OWN politics! It's not that I support Iran so much as it is the fact that I oppose intervention in other countries' affairs. It is not on us to force our values onto them.
2
Phase3Investor Apr 3, 2026 +1
