Mariah Carey Reacts to Getting Snubbed from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: 'Who Cares?'
Mariah Carey isn’t upset about her 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee snub. Carey, eligible since 2015, was among the nominees who didn't make the cut this year alongside Pink, Shakira and Lauryn Hill.

They should remove rock and roll from the name

I believe they are actually starting to come to grips with this concept. I heard a soundbite from someone from the HOF discussing the recent inductees and they were sort of emphasizing the term “pop music” throughout the interview.

This is the answer.

Mariah Carey always has the best responses to stupid questions.

And her fans don't care when she lipsyncs for live performances

She cemented her legacy as an icon years ago, why should she care?

She makes bank every Christmas. I’m sure the snub is really affecting her.

When I think Rock and Roll, the first person who comes to my mind is always Mariah Carey

Aretha Franklin was inducted in 1987… this has nothing to do with the genre how is that still not understood?

You say that as if they don’t have every genre of artist in there. She’s one of the highest selling female artists of all time. She absolutely deserves to be there.

There should be a pop music museum or hall of fame and the rock and roll hall of fame should be purged. Put real rock and metal in there.

thats literally not what the above commentor was saying. Theyre just sayin that it is no longer a rock and roll hall of fame and that there should be a rock and roll hall of fame, which is a pretty reasonable take

She does have a rock album but her label wouldn't let her release it through her name. That's more than what a lot of these other people in the list contributed to rock music (which is nothing in a lot of cases).

Makes me anticipate a Mariah induction in the future. This same convo happened about Dolly. “Why has Dolly been snubbed?” Then they wanted to induct her, Dolly declined, Dolly reversed her position, she was inducted.

Phil Collins was an easy choice.

The fact that the guy who invented the iconic drum sounds of the 1980s and had more Top-40 singles than any other artist in the 1980s wasn’t inducted until 2026 is just the latest example of how stupid the HOF process is… (And for those who hate him: If being a d*** was a disqualifying offense, then the place should be empty…)

So many years later and people are still missing the point that the rock and roll Hall of Fame is just the music hall of fame. It's called "the rock and roll Hall of fame" because it was the most known and popular American genre. Literally look at its first inductees and stop crying

Build a pop hall of fame and she'll get in...

Objectively correct response. She got (earned) her bag decades ago and has absolutely nothing to prove to anyone at this point.

Is it nice? Yes. But honestly sometimes not winning sets you apart from the rest.

Hawkwise83 3 days ago +6
Is it the music hall of fame or rock and roll? Cause she ain't rock and roll.

Immediate-Yogurt-558 3 days ago +1
I agree, but i still find it weird that the hall of fame has non "rock" artists come in and play to pay tribute. It comes off as hypocritical to me at least.

Can we stop normalizing putting people in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when their music is a different genre entirely?
-3
wrathmont 3 days ago -4
Why exactly? Just because the words “Rock & Roll” are in the title makes it sacred to keep anything that doesn’t technically fall into that category out of the running? It’s not that serious.

Sleepingguitarman 3 days ago +1
It needs name changed then, because it doesn't make much sense. You don't see tennis players in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Or basketball players in the Football Hall of Fame.

Rock & roll is a fairly nebulous term anyway

Why would anyone think she belongs there?

She’s not rock and roll. Is she dumb?
