Step 1.. retake control of the Panama Canal ports,
Step 2..allow Russia & Ukraine to continue & Russian sanctions stay in place
Step 3…take control of Venezuela’s oil production,
Step 4…make ME oil too expensive and volatile
Step 5…sell oil to globe now as better, more competitive option than ME with secure shipping routes

Highly suspect this is part of the logic which is why I am kind of suprised they didn’t obliterate Irans oil production. Maybe too much of a shock at once?

I have no idea.. I think they’re cool with a lot of scenarios happening, control the big parts locally and see what happens abroad as best as I can, well guess.

Think I might have a guess. Look at the recent news articles coming out about Trump wanting there to be a joint US Iran Toll in USD. In the short term that would achieve the same effect of raising the price of ME oil to make the US more competitive and it would put pressure on Chinas oil import all while still keeping ME oil available to prevent widespread energy collapse. Obviously this is still all just a theory but if he pulls this off it would be a massive shift in the petrodollar and global trade.

Oil is sold at a single price. If ME supply is volatile it does not help US even if doesn’t import any of it. It means oil is sold at much higher prices which will benefit US oil companies but not the US economy. And US can’t magically increase their own exports to supply 20% of world’s oil.

Benefitting US companies increases our tax revenue, increases our domestic production/refinement which makes us less vulnerable to the Middle East, and also gives us more leverage in negotiations elsewhere

Your missing 2 key things they said
1. That benefiting us oil companies won’t benefit the US economy. My prior reply explains why that is false
2. That we can’t just magically increase our exports. You’re right we can’t. But if you jack up the price of foreign oil and make it easier to refine and produce oil domestically say like this:

Then you can create an environment where it is profitable for U.S oil companies to be competitive globally and to eventually fill that 20% gap. Is it overnight? No. But over a long period of these conditions the US would fill that gap. And with US thumbs on Venezuela and the straight of Hormuz oil transport/production, and with Europe halting their purchase of Russian Oil and Gas, the US is primed to be able to do this.

All of that is more than outweighed by the increased cost of doing business in every other sector of the economy. It’s not just the increased cost at the pump or the grocery store, it’s everywhere. Expect economic growth to slow or reverse from this

Yes until US oil rises to meet the demand that is true. But if the us is able to bypass the tolls because it’s you know their tolls, or direct it from Venezuela, then the impact to the U.S will be minimal. Europe and Australia would be fucked tho

Not really.
There are Suezmax and smaller tankers that can transit the Suez. It's VLCC's that have to transit the Bab al Mandeb.
That's not to say that procuring a fleet of suezmax tankers and having a transfer solution to VLCC's in the Med, isn't a major logistical nightmare, it is. It is a surmountable problem.
