\*Sigh\*
We could have had him go through the entire legends arc throughout his career if Lucas had merely been on board with continuing his franchise. Now Star Wars is damned to Disney’s terrible sequel storyline and Luke Skywalker is one step above an abusive uncle in the canon.
At least Mark Hamill’s work will always stay timeless. As much as I hate what was done to Luke’s character I can’t fault his acting in anything he’s done.

I mean…. Let’s be clear about this. The ONE main thing Disney kept from Lucas’s original story treatments for the sequel trilogy was that Luke would be a hermit who turned away from his friends and the galaxy to live out his remaining days in a cave waiting for death due to the betrayal of a former student and the crumbling of his Jedi academy.
It was NOT an idea created by Disney/JJ/Rian/Kathleen etc.
It’s pretty well known at this point. But in case people still don’t know, this video goes through the timeline pretty well: https://youtu.be/awJTcgiQtIw?si=JUC49kWKFEzMHBkV
Only difference is Lucas absolutely wouldn’t have gotten anywhere near as good of an acting performance out of Hamill like Rian did… just looking at the prequels which even today I struggle to watch because the acting is so horrendous.
Also - Lucas notoriously disliked the EU. Hated Mara Jade etc.

Yeah, and Lucas was a moron for hating something that, while flawed in many aspects, was a far better direction for his universe to go. His vision was inherently limiting and finite, whereas literally everyone else wanted to see the world built up and explored in new ways.
