Mustaine has that all over the place, high power chords and scales to go up and down - but Hetfield hung out down low more about rhythm and sounding heavy and badass. Mustaine did both don’t get me wrong which is why he was a monster and right between Dave Murray and Hetfield as his own guy.

yeah. def a cousin of metallica if not an even closer relative. but they always stayed anchored to heavy metal roots. through the years ive learned to appreciate metallicas different phases outside the first 4 albums. enter sandman beginner riffs, the st anger snare, the guitar hero masters of death magetic.. metallicas been all over the place artistically. megadeth has always been quite focused... dont think hes ever cut his hair lol

You know he was a founding member of Metallica right? Wrote a few of their songs, hard to go off and do something totally different.

Mustaine's guitar work really bridges that gap perfectly between technical wizardry and straight up heavy riffs. The way he can shift from those complex lead passages to chugging rhythm sections within the same song is pretty insane - like he's got both sides of that metal spectrum covered in one player
