He is correct. The Republican party went from yelling about family values to protecting a gaggle of pedophiles.

incognito042620 Mar 25, 2026 +266
They didn't go from this to that. They yelled about family values specifically to hide what they were really doing and who they really are.

Goes at least as far back as Newt Gingrich, leading the holy crusade against Bill Clinton for adultery. I was a kid during that whole thing, and it was drilled into my young brain that good leadership required good moral judgment. Kinda makes sense, depending on how you define it. Surprise! We now know Newt Gingrich committed adultery on all 3 of his wives! Which, I may be wrong, but that’s kind of like super adultery? Surprise again! The entire religious right sold their weak little souls to Trump, who also cheated on **all 3 of his wives**! Amazing! Best of all, adultery is the *least* morally horrifying thing Trump has ~~confessed to~~ bragged about doing! And on tape! F***!

Still laughing at "super adultery" excellent

Dude. If you ever are in a bookstore and see his book, give it a skim, it’s f****** *wild*. He’s batshit crazy. He’s probably bummed he’s not involved with all this maga nonsense.

ebcdicZ Mar 25, 2026 +2
Same, I was scared my mom would see it in the news. I would turn off the radio or start talking to her so she would be distracted and not know about it.
2
dyorite Mar 25, 2026 +17
The “family values” they talk about are ultimately about the father’s control over his wife and kids. It’s about exactly the kind of patriarchal family model that enables abuse of children
17
Orion14159 Mar 26, 2026 +4
Sometimes it's about how much they could get for selling their families out
4
WakingWaldo Mar 25, 2026 +38
I'd argue that conservatives have always protected pedophiles. That Southern Baptist Church scandal from a number of years ago comes to mind, along with countless examples of "keeping it in the family" instead of going to the police when a child is abused by a family member. They didn't go from x to y, they've always done x and they've always done y. They're hypocrites and liars. "Family values" doesn't mean shit except homophobia and the the ability to smack your kid around when they backtalk you.
38
Conscious_until_1565 Mar 25, 2026 +6
Not to mention the f****** Catholic Church.

SatinSaffron Mar 25, 2026 +15
While he obviously is correct about the Epstein stuff, he still supports the SAVE act. The SAVE act will disenfranchise voters and help elect more Republicans who will just keep hiding all of the Epstein bullshit. So deep down he must not *truly* want justice otherwise he would help ensure people who will bring accountability are actually put into office.
15
andrew5500 Mar 25, 2026 +8
He’s also not even willing to bad mouth the child rapist in chief. Says he still likes Trump and just thinks there’s “bad people” whispering in his ear. He’s brave enough to be vaguely “pro-transparency” but not brave enough to call out one of Epstein’s closest associates that has his entire party by the balls.
8
Orion14159 Mar 26, 2026 +2
I mean yes but also one of those bad people is inside Trump's head

I’ll give Massie this: he has been incredibly consistent on calling for real consequences for the Epstein class. Can’t stand the man or his politics but I respect him for this.
1
EX0PIL0T Mar 25, 2026 -3
The whole federal government doesn’t care. Nobody has been pushing for consequences, regardless of party. Stop turning this shit into a partisan issue.
-3
Basic_Yam_715 Mar 25, 2026 +5
Nah, dems can't do anything. If they had a majority, they would impeach him. Dems aren't saints, but they aren't covering up for Trump's pedophilia. FBI should check your computer too, you seem like a pedo supporter.
5
EX0PIL0T Mar 25, 2026 -2
The democrats could attempt to make it look like the vast majority aren’t complacent with the situation at hand. If they only act when they believe they have a chance of success regardless of whether or not it’s the right thing to do, they should be voted out come election season. Do you really want more politicians sitting on their hands?
-2
EX0PIL0T Mar 25, 2026 -3
You’re a lunatic going to ad hominems when your thoughts aren’t echoed back to you. Behave yourself

Yeah, your computer has some stuff on it I bet...
1

I agree with humiliating these criminals, but I draw the line at seeing a single one of them naked. I value my eyesight.

It's not about us seeing them. It's about their humiliation. I'm just angry enough and vindictive enough that I can avoid staring at some flopping weiners and saggy titties if it means they're humiliated beyond belief.

Shame should explained as a concept in elementary education, examples given in middle school, and demonstrated understanding in high school. Not as a class, just an informative one day lecture. Let's save classes for other, harder to explain topics. Like: 1) personal taxes, preparation and filing 2) compound interest, how it works 3) practical family management and sex ed. You're gonna need one, or both

If it plays out like the last three times (Clinton, Bush, Biden), centrist Democrats like Gavin Newsom will be elected by a large margin with a mandate for change. Instead, they will prop up the status quo to stop the worst of the bleeding but otherwise nothing will change. Those on the right will be mad that Gavin's first act wasnt pulling the magic lever in the white house that undoes all the damage Trump did and go for the fascists again  Those on the left will be mad that once again we will be sold out to corporate interests and certain little foreign countries, and stay home.

>Those on the right will be mad that Gavin's first act wasnt pulling the magic lever in the white house that undoes all the damage ~~Trump~~ **Biden and the child eating older democrats lead by Pelosi in a Mad Max legion of radical bay area socialists** did and go for the fascists again FTFY

You left out Obama and Trump 1.0 The pattern still stands, but you ignored 12 years of history and Obama was still pretty centrist (which was probably partly because Barry knew how to read a room).
1
Faustrolled Mar 26, 2026 +1
Centrist? He signed free college into law. Pffft
1
hackinwhackinsmackin Mar 26, 2026 +1
According to 75% of Reddit, anyone not to the left of AOC and Bernie Sanders is a filthy centrist. Then again, these are the same people that bring Palestine flags to No Kings protests instead of American flags and have their little quips like “scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds”.
1
Zepcleanerfan Mar 25, 2026 +2
2029 probably. But it really comes down to people voting. They never have to be in power again.
2
splintersmaster Mar 25, 2026 +2
Given that they're still blaming Biden for all the worlds woes. It didn't take long at all for them to blame Obama or Hilary, even though Hilary never really held that type of power. But f*** brown mustard, am I right.
2
geologicalnoise Mar 25, 2026 +1
I'll pay taxes for money that goes into **our** neighborhoods, **our** roads, **our** infrastructure (I use AI but f*** you datacenters), **our** workforce development and backing unions for workers, **our** healthcare, **our** education; **our people**. Happily. But you send it to billionaires who don't need anymore money, couldn't work any of our jobs for more then a shift without collapsing into piles of botox and ozempic, and grift the work of the people (we're all descendants of immigrants) who actually built this damn country. And don't send it overseas either you damn thieves. And then wonder why we're pissed off.

AskRedditOG Mar 25, 2026 +3
Never under estimate the ability for establishment dems to outdo the GOP in unelectability.
3
Jackalope_trainer Mar 25, 2026 +16
Doomer. Complaining about democrats in the context of threads like this is so tired. I get it, it’s frustrating to see them not fight hard enough and lose winnable battles. But how about we look ahead and believe that only party the could possibly enact good policies can win. Be the change you want to see in the world.
16
Sminahin Mar 25, 2026 +8
If establishment Dems would learn the obvious lesson after decades of voluntary electoral losses, I wouldn't have to keep complaining. These are the same maliciously incompetent losers that spoonfed America to Bush and have collapsed into Reaganomics because they never bothered coming up with an economic platform. When our only two proper winners in modern history (Clinton + Obama) were both Washington outsiders running on economic change. It ain't rocket science. At this point, I genuinely believe Dem party leadership are outright evil and essentially hold the entire country hostage using the awfulness of Republicans. They refuse to run the obvious policies people want, ones that would hurt the ultrawealthy Epstein class that's the foundation of both parties. And because Republicans are so awful, these corrupt leaders keep assuming they can win elections by running barely-less-evil, anti-poor, hawkish candidates like Kerry, Hillary 2008, Hillary 2016, Biden, and Harris.
8
Zepcleanerfan Mar 25, 2026
Clinton, Obama and Biden were all considered establishment dems. Lol Biden would've beat trump in 2016 too.
0
Sminahin Mar 25, 2026 +2
>Clinton, Obama and Biden were all considered establishment dems. Biden, yes. He'd been in Washington for what, almost 50 years? Clinton and Obama ***governed*** as establishment Dems, but they campaigned as anti-establishment change agents. The 2008 establishment candidate was Hillary and party insiders desperately favored her (often with unethical support and resources), while Obama was the dark horse candidate that crushed the Dem party in Chicago previously and then crushed the establishment in the primaries despite heavy opposition. That's something low-info Dems keep missing. Because people win based on their campaign image, not how they govern after the election. Also, Clinton & Obama both faced such hyper-establishment challengers that they got to be the outsider candidate as a sitting president. Bob Dole was the incarnation of Washington. Mitt Romney reeked of insider and was practically the physical avatar of the financial crisis. The more insider-branded candidate hasn't won an election since 1988, though you could argue 2020 either way because Covid scrambled those dynamics. >Biden would've beat trump in 2016 too. Biden got his ass kicked in 2008 by Clinton *and* Obama because he was too old, establishment, and dull. Biden in 2016 is the exact sort of candidate Trump was made to defeat.

AskRedditOG Mar 25, 2026 -4
It's doomer to remind people that the only reason we have Trump in office is due to establishment democrats handing him the election? Nah, kick rocks. The establishment democrats are MORE harmful than the GOP at this point because they prevent ANY real opposition to the oligarchs. They are complicit and part of the same social circles.
-4
Lurking_nerd Mar 25, 2026 +13
I agree with you that when it comes time to deliver for Americans, Democrats fall short for a myriad of reasons. But to say they are **more** harmful than the GOP is extremely ridiculous to put it lightly. Democrats could’ve done a lot more that most likely would’ve put this type of shit away (hold bankers accountable after the Financial Crisis, prosecute Trump & his band of insurrectionists, etc) but to say they’re worse is a different flavor of both sides-ism that has to be called out.
13
Llarys Mar 25, 2026 +1
Here's the thing though: Complaining about Republicans being evil is a genuinely pointless act. It's the equivalent of a toddler pointing at a toy on the ground and having a tantrum because it won't teleport into their hands. They are doing ***exactly*** what they said they would, ***exactly*** what their constituents voted for them to do, and ***exactly*** what we knew they would do. The Democratic Party, on the other hand, f****** ***never*** do what they promise to do. Yes, a portion of that can be blamed on Republican meddling, but it doesn't change the fact that the corpolibs that have a stranglehold on the party's political direction are happy to co-opt progressive beliefs and ideals for the sake of electioneering, but have zero actual interest or desire to follow through on any of it. It doesn't matter that it's unfair. When the police fail to prevent a woman being murdered by a stalker who they knew was stalking her, we recognize the stalker is the villain, but the police played a role in their laziness and incompetence. When a disabled person burns to death in their home because firefighters decided containment of the fire is more important that mounting rescue operations, we recognize the firefighters didn't start the fire, but played a role in that person's death via their mismanagement of the event. And, likewise, when the Republican Party launches a f****** coup against the goddamn United States and the Democratic Party elects a senile shitlib who selects a f****** conservative federalist society judge to oversee the prosecution of this coup, we can recognize the Republican Party are the real villains, but we need to hold the Democratic Party to account for yet again fumbling what should have been an easy victory that would have locked Trump away for the rest of his fetid life.

They lost because of bullshit purity tests and people refusing to vote because "both sides are the same", or voting for some crazy third party, because palestine. Whatever story you want to tell yourself about establishment, democrats, or whatever the fact remains, if harris was president right now, none of this, and I mean, none of it, what would be happening.

He is running on the platform that he agrees with Trump most of the time, endorsed Trump, and was once endorsed by Trump. In the district he is campaigning in, he is just having a minor disagreement with Trump. Nationally, he's pretending to be a rebel. It's a ruse. He's just another MAGA.
28
kobrakai1034 Mar 25, 2026 +9
He'll raise serious campaign cash from both sides of the aisle by dragging this out forever. He's never going to actually do anything.

Yep, even as the most outspoken Republican on the Epstein issue, he still can’t even bring himself to bad-mouth the Child Rapist in Chief…

What is Massie going to do, threaten to expose people on Epstein’s lists but never give any new names?

Yes. That way he can keep raking in the campaign cash by teasing this forever.

Hard to see that happening with how things stand currently. America is existing in a society where down is up, facts don't matter, the justice system is corrupted to the highest levels, etc. Not really sure how a society heals from this kind of collective delusion/psychosis.
