Looks like Germany is trying to repair the relationship and keep NATO together but things have deteriorated so far for so long. I don't see this turning out well regardless of how the war ends. Trump was already very close to declaring US withdrawal during his first term but was kept in check by his cabinet, now he's got a bunch of sycophants around him. If the war ends well for the US he will market it as US not needing NATO. If the war ends poorly he will market it as NATO being unsupportive and a resource drain. Most likely he will do both and push hard for US withdrawal.

I think we’re way past pretending Congress has any real control over Trump. Congress can support / oppose whatever policy they want, Trump can make a withdrawal de-facto effective as the executive. There's a reason Germany isn't putting it's faith in the US Congress and instead backpedaling to align with Trump.

There is no way the US ends Trumps second term in the NATO. They already set up an withdrawal and wait for a good opportunity. Regardless, Europe needs more time to prepare, so trying to avoid any kind of fallout is fine.

Trump's buddy is facing massive economic problems and needs an oil shortage to raise price of the oil it's trying to sell and force Europe back into buying its oil. I would like to hear from you why the Iranian government is a terrorist regime. Why the US + Israel have the right to unilaterally attack Iran during negotiations. It was the wrong building inside a military compound. Contrast that with Iran supporting Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis and all of the damage and pain they have intentionally inflicted on civilians in the region for decades. You have no sense of nuance or are deliberately being obtuse.
