I've seen a LOT of shirtless people, penises, t***, people taking a shit, really disturbing stuff like folks holding up another passed out person's head (we take action on this of course), etc. I'm in fraud investigations so I have to look at accounts all day and have come to the conclusion that people don't really consider where the pictures/videos they take end up or that there's a person actually looking at them. Also, even rich people and celebrities sign up for bank accounts while taking a dump.

After 9/11 the CIA had an experimental program called LifeLog. It documented people’s every day experiences, and created predictive models for each target. When the white paper was made public the agency received a ton of backlash over the privacy implications. So they killed the program…the same day Facebook was formed as a company. Making the data aggregation voluntary hurdled those privacy concerns. And while both Meta and the agency claim there’s no relationship, the scripts that ran to compartmentalize the massive trove of data are identical to LifeLog’s. They also used the same terminology…like snapshots of a persons relationships or relation to events were called “Threads”. 22 years later and Facebook has morphed into the very LifeLog program that was shuttered over privacy concerns.
It’s not a bigger story for the same reason Google dodges media criticism…the agency doesn’t like the media messing with their toys.

I mean, it's obvious to anyone who has any device with a microphone, including Alexa. I guess maybe it's coincidence, but I swear everybody I know with a device that has a microphone has experienced discussing something nearby and seeing the exact thing being discussed show up in an ad within 24 hours.
I know these companies claim no recordings are being specifically stored for each user. I can believe that. But I also believe all of our audio data is being parsed for keywords and all the data is just being fed to algorithms about us. So yea, they don't record me having a conversation with my wife and nobody can go listen to it, specifically. But that doesn't mean topics from what we talk about aren't being noted.

I think that people who hated Google classes are the same people who hate these classes.
It's me. I'm those people.

I vividly remember the public outcry over Google Glasses potentially violating anyone's privacy, and now these things are sold by Meta and noone bats an eye. Overton Window moved insanely far in those past couple years and I hate it

I loved the concept of Google Glasses, but I did not trust the company. I love the concept of the Meta Glasses, but I hate the company. Zuck has repeatedly shown that he is not to be trusted with anything. He is quite possibly the most disturbingly corrupt person on the planet. If not a top 5. It would not surprise me to learn that he is pulling some of the strings in the shit show we are in now.

Anything you record with your smartglasses can be sent back and reviewed by human auditors, be they at Meta themselves or third party contractors. This is probably all part of the T&C you have to sign when setting up this device, just like any smart speaker has the same kind of language where they say your voice commands could be used as training material and reviewed.
So in this case, "Meta in row after workers who say they saw smart glasses users having sex lose jobs" can be made clearer with just two commas: "Meta in row after workers, who say they saw smart glasses users having sex, lose jobs". Certain reviewers of the material that came in reported fragments of recordings as sexual in nature, and now claim they were fired because of these reports, which is causing an uproar amongst other workers at Meta.

Shouldn’t the headline be that Meta is paying people to go over all the visual data from people’s smart glasses? Like, seriously, how did we just blow right past that??
