Blame my news station, my CC(closed caption) said it was in Cincinnati and we felt and heard it here, I now know it was closer to Cleveland

jkliette Mar 17, 2026 +3
I think it was pretty close to Cleveland, no?

Beer2Bear Mar 17, 2026 +3

Incorrect. Broke up over Medina County, about 30 minutes south of Cleveland.

Lived near a SAC base, with SR71s as a kid. Worked on the Space Shuttle landing path for a few years. Still, the loudest sonic boom i ever heard was a meteor flying over me.

Reports indicate that the party balloons leave behind a wife and two children

Hold_my_Dirk Mar 17, 2026 +2
It was so goddamn loud. I thought a house in my neighborhood had exploded or something.

Why is the National Weather Service taking lead on confirming that this was an object from space. NASA “had” an entire department for tracking near Earth objects. We have an entire uniformed military branch dedicated to Space and yet nobody saw this meteor prior to the NWS?
2
DeHerg Mar 18, 2026 +1
Just conjecture/speculation, but NASA probably only track the bigger ones that have a chance to reach the ground with enough mass left to do damage and missile defense is probably looking for anything coming over the horizon, not for something directly from above.

1

Somewhere south of Chippewa road south of Medina.

I think the word meteorite should have been used instead of the word meteor... but that's just my opinion

The360MlgNoscoper Mar 18, 2026 +1
Only if it hit the ground
1
ii_V_I_iv Mar 18, 2026 +1
That seems like such a minor distinction, it’s weird to me that there’s a different for it

It's Space Leprechauns! They crashed in Lake Erie. Who wanna help find where the gold at?

Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 17, 2026
They\`ll claim it was a Iranian Meteor & thus justifies the US attack on their Country ..
0
turfey Mar 17, 2026 +3
I did hear a moron coworker already claiming this.
3
Equivalent_Range6291 Mar 17, 2026 +2
Yep, it will be headlined on Fox News as \`America Under Iranian Attack\`..

For sure. It has nothing to do with Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Northeast Ohio where some very strange aircraft are stationed.

Reports of the fireball being seen all the way in Maryland. Loud boom apparently. Our local firehouse actually went out looking for “it”.
