Holy shit. I saw this article in my feed and almost googled "did MJF die" then realized that it was just really poorly worded.

It is concerning though that they had a story already loaded up, and I think it's even more concerning that they accidentally published it.

Larger media outlets like CNN have obits prepped for basically all famous celebrities. Even young healthy ones if they’re really famous. They’ve gotta beat the competition 🙄

And when you have someone who has been famous for decades, it's easier to have all that data ready to go. Some of them can be quite lengthy.

There’s been multiple times where the writer of the obituary dies long before it’s actually published.

I work at a small media outlet and we absolutely have ones ready for our elderly governor and senator ready to go that are updated a couple times per year. It would be horrifying to publish it early and someone would likely be fired

I was worried. I'm glad he doesn't have to join Wade Boggs in the afterlife, rest in peace.

Good one. Back in the day I would have beat you to that. Instead I’ll do the classic retort. Wade Boggs is very much alive and well, he just beat cancer.

CNN is a joke. So are most American news outlets. They're all after profit. They're actually largely responsible for trumps presidency. Twice. They're responsible for push Joe Biden out of office. F*** them all. I watch Nippon or BBC news

You are lucky. I haven't watched CNN since 1991 when they sold the first Persian Gulf war to the American people with smiles and laughs.

You’re right with the exception that BBC is infamously terrible and they are only getting worse.

Joe Biden’s steep cognitive decline is responsible for Joe Biden exiting the race. Everyone acknowledges that. Even he basically has.

A trump is a whimsical genius full of energy and life!? gmafb. The media played into it hard. Eating cats and dogs? No problem...

I’m just saying CNN didn’t push him out. His speaking in public and people like George Clooney saying he didn’t recognize him sort of sunk him. Did you somehow want CNN not to report that? Maybe I’m misunderstanding.

This led me down a path I didn't expect tonight.. The Leo and Me cluster.. I am completely blown away.. I had no idea that Parkinsonism could be caused by environmental factors, I always thought it was mostly an elderly disease that very rarely just sprung up in young people.. This is absolutely nuts..

CNN continues to move further towards the tabloid end of the news spectrum. How morbid of them to prep a tribute, and then to be so sloppy and inept that they actually published it. College newspaper teams are better managed. I hope that the new owners will improve the professionalism at CNN. It will likely require a staff and leadership refresh.

Congrats everyone the news cycle now moves fast enough that I'm looped in on a celebrity death by the denial of said celebrity death
