These kids probably reacted better than adults would and worked together admirably. 1 grabbed the wheel, 1 hit the breaks, 1 gave the bus driver her nebulizer while another held her head, and 1 called 911. Great job all around and these kids all deserve medals for heroism.
It's nice to see a positive news story for a change.

Only if the bus driver was sharp and incredibly sassy, and all the kids' clothes had bright colors.

Adults have too much cultural norm baggage. Conditioned not to make a scene even when reality is about to crash you into a wall.

With this logic you can eliminate majority of truck drivers, delivery drivers, and uber and Lyft drivers lololol

People who have asthma shouldn’t drive???? That’s your takeaway?? Are you thinking at all?

There is a difference between driving yourself and driving a school bus full of children. People with a condition that would make them incapable of driving should not be driving school buses.

Are you allergic to bees? Probably shouldn't drive a bus in case a bee flies in and stings you.
Do you have a heart? Probably shouldn't drive a bus, just in case you have a heart attack. Do you have allergies? Because it's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open, and driving with your eyes closed is dangerous.
Do you think there are hundreds of thousands of people lining up to take jobs as school bus drivers? If we eliminated anyone with any potential medical complication, there would be zero drivers.

You know there’s always a chance you have an aneurysm while driving right? Does that mean by your logic that you should never be in a position of driving anybody either

I wanna see the “folk with health disabilities shouldn’t get jobs, since they’ll put anyone at risk” people battling it out against the “I shouldn’t have to pay for the disabled to live, they need to get their own jobs” people. It would be pretty neat to watch.
Maybe throw in the “folk with disabilities are selfish for having kids” people, if the argument starts to get stale.

If you're diagnosed as having a condition that would cause you to lose consciousness, then you absolutely should not be responsible for driving other people or flying, etc.

Even people with epilepsy can drive after an extended seizure free period. Diagnoses aren't disqualifications for employment.

I am not saying that they shouldn't drive. I am saying that they shouldn't be driving a school bus.

Mississippi students are actually above average now. It took **billions and billions** of dollars from blue donor states, but they did it.

This Mississippi parent is grateful for all the work and funding that's gone into it. Hopefully the next generation will be educated enough to start making some more changes in other areas too

Kind of depends how many of these kids take that education and move out of the state. I don't know how to say this and not sound incredibly judgemental, but given how broken and depressed the rest of your state is, including the lack of major well paying employers, I would be willing to bet that the ones that can get out, will.
Those will be the most educated and qualified to improve things over time. The Midwest has had the same issue since WWII and the GI Bill gave people better options.

>"This embrace of phonics education and the near-complete rejection of whole language theory was a key component of the program's success."
The damage that whole language theory has done to millions of children is staggering. It's so bad that long term analysis of children's grades found that the more exposure they got to that garbage theory, the worse they did.

I live on an arterial alleyway, and you'd be surprised how many 12 year olds they can fit on a golf cart and stop just shy of daddies little girl speeding down the road in her brand new F250.
