This guy doesn’t even realize he’s Iran’s new leader.

Scary thought they could make any one of us next leader

Imagine you wake up one day and find out you are the new Ayatollah! I'd make so many whacky religious decrees lol

Well, that's a very optimistic way of looking at this

"Ayatollah Dave has once again surprised his subjects, declaring on Tuesday that chicken strips without ranch dressing are haram. No clarification yet on the nascent Supreme Leader's feelings toward requiring Baja Blast with every meal, but if the tankers of Mountain Dew spotted winding through the Zagros Mountains are any indicator, insiders tell us to expect a wave of refreshment in Tehran."

I would be known as the Ayatollah of Rum and Cola. I would, of course, have an interesting relationship with the current Cuban administration.

Even I know Rum’s a no no in Muslim culture, you’ll be my first Fatwah 🤣

Lazy-Gene-7284 2 days ago +2
Always wanted to issue a “ fatwa”! Do ayatollahs get to do that?
2

As many fatwas as your heart desires!

Maybe I'm being overly charitable, but I sometimes wonder (based on the shit he comes out with) if Trump thinks he's still some loud-mouthed New York real estate dealer, and not the holder of what used to be a respected office.

\> but I sometimes wonder \[...\] if Trump thinks
31
ThrowRA_EducatedMan 3 days ago +11
He’s still “making deals” and “negotiating” the way he did on every other shitty business thing he ever did. He’s merely subverted the office to the same lack of principles and personal gain.

Better than electing a known pedophile. Republicans have a bad habit of it, Trump, Gaetz, Hastert, then theres the republican obsession with Kid Rock

The guy from the raw milk homoerotic video?

Once he regains consciousness it won’t even matter. He’s a puppet and the real lead is tucked deep in the bunkers.

"Once?" Hasn't dude been unconscious for almost a month? Doesn't that kind of bode...poorly for him to wake up?

If he is reportedly in Moscow, it means even if he is concious, he might be isolated from the actual situation and feed only the basic information as he recovers. Even then, the fact IRGC compulsed the Assembly of Experts to elect him means the IRGC as an institution is in charge of Iran after what effectively is a coup d'etat. Whether the IRGC itself has a coherent leadership rather than different parts just following the trajectory without anyone being able to steer, or the IRGC leaders pursue maximalist path by choice is a big question.

Once you kill the leadership, it’s only the men with guns left.

taskforceslacker 3 days ago +7
The real leader is tucked deep in another country ala Bin Laden.
7
mrm00r3 3 days ago +6
Bin Laden was 286 miles from Kabul and half that to the border those countries share. I wouldn’t call that deep, I’d call that a puddle jumper flight and an uber ride.

m1sterlurk 3 days ago +5
Osama bin Laden was not the ruler of Afghanistan. While Al Qaeda had set up in Afghanistan, their presence there was more "lack of Taliban opposition" than "Taliban support". There was clearly US opposition to his presence when we invaded, which is why he gtfucko.

Depends on the Uber method, but I would agree.

Who is the real leader?

Pretty sure everyone knows the IRGC is running this show.

I'm curious as to how he was even selected. The Assembly of Experts were flattened in a building in Qom. Then a day later, somehow the Assembly elected Mojtaba.

LaughinChaos 3 days ago +9
The assembly is just the IRGC leads in trenchoats.

Wasn't that more or less the state of the last one you had? But yeas, that did seem better than the current version.

You'd think given where we are now, and given Joe Biden appears to have been *okay* as president at least, people might have a) gotten bored of this tired old joke and b) realised that by continuing with this sort of nonsense helps sanewash trump and makes the people who spread it actively part of the problem

birgor 3 days ago -29
Why? Is the American mind really that binary? In the rest of the world are most people pretty aware that every politician have weaknesses and deserves mocking. And that mocking one does in no way make you defend someone else. Do you really think that choosing between two political religions have done your country good? It was obvious for everyone with a brain that Biden was extremely unfit for his position in the end, and likewise even more obvious that Trump is worse. There must not always be a hero and a villain. Most of the time is there just several corrupt assholes.
-29
veryangryenglishman 3 days ago +17
>Why? Is the American mind really that binary? > your country I'm not American. Are you incapable of understanding how immediately responding to criticism of Trump with personal attacks on Biden creates the impression of a normalisation of the two? This is especially f****** stupid given most of the main criticisims levelled at Biden - sleepy, old, mentally unfit etc - are actually issues that Trump has **even worse** anyway. Then pile onto that the fact that all the other shit makes Trump **orders of magnitude** worse. >Most of the time is there just several corrupt assholes. See - even now you're spouting "both sides bad" adjacent bullshit
17
birgor 3 days ago -17
So one are not allowed to criticise or make fun of Biden because Trump is worse? That is the most stupid shit I have heard today. That is not how the world works in any way. If they elect a guy that can't speak coherent sentences and doesn't seem to know where he is does it not matter if his name is Trump or Biden, he is still a catastrophe as a president that in the name of sanity has to be mocked. And of course Trump is much, much worse. But that doesn't change anything. Politicians should be sized for who they are and what they do, not by who their opponents are. Just like all humans should. To be against any kind of criticism against the opponents of someone who is bad is probably the worst one can do to democracy. That's just sectarianism. Every political figure is always free to criticise and mock. And in this case was Biden much more fitting, since he looked close to unconscious in the end. >See - even now you're spouting "both sides bad" adjacent bullshit How absurd can you be? OF COURSE is both sides bad. Like every politician ever. There has never been a universally good leader in the history of man kind. Because no political system, neither any human is flawless. This is the point of free speech and free press. But that doesn't mean there are better and worse. What kind of reality do you live in?

Yes, the American mind is that binary. This is, along with the racism, basically all that’s left in the pot when you boil everything down to just salts.

The life expectancy of any of Iran's supreme leaders is now about that of a devout fruit fly.
23
philman132 3 days ago +9
Precisely why they elected someone on life support who obviously isn't really in charge. Makes it harder for the state to have the head cut off if it is unclear who the real head is.

Maybe this is an insensitive question but how do they reason this stuff internally. If I was believing their religious ideology, shouldn't that guy be borderline ordained by Allah? How come Allah would allow his servant to fail that hard. Do they argue this is all a test to see if they're faithful enough or something? Or did Iran's leadership abandon any religious rhetoric by now? I feel sorry for regular Iranians who just want to live their lives. But I guess this isn't much different to so called "christian" leaders who spout hate and dissent in western countries... Its not like any of these leaders actually believe what they say. Or even care to actually know what they're supposed to believe.

The answer is: they don't.  Everyone knows they're Full of shit. They know they're full of shit. Their followers know they're full of shit.  1984 is literally a documentary about my life as an Iranian.  - Chocolate ration given was 20 gr today - It is going to be cut to 10 gr tomorrow - tomorrow, the news will announce that chocolate rations have INCREASED to 10 gr Everyone knows it's a lie. You literally cannot do anything about it. You just live with it.
