Wow. Great news, hope they can pull it off.

I recently discovered this series and thought “why don’t I ever hear more people talking about it, it’s great” and it turns out I just live in a cave.

No, it's not you, this series is very often overlooked and not mentioned often on Reddit.

I mean I’ve scoured anime suggestions and the internet and never heard of it

High hopes, I love the art in the books. Hope they keep in the little teacher cat/student kitten bits, would work nice for the little credit bumpers. Fingers crossed for more of Invincible success instead of Paper Girls one-and-done.

Can we please get someone to do Chew?

> Can we please get someone to do Chew? >>In April 2014, it was announced Chew would now be getting an animated adaptation. This project would be produced by Jeff Krelitz and David Boxenbaum via their multimedia company Heavy Metal. Jeff Krelitz would also be directing and John Layman would write. The executive producers would be John Layman, Rob Guillory and Scott Boxenbaum. Steven Yeun would voice the main character Tony Chu, Felicia Day would voice his love interest Amelia Mintz, and Robin Williams would voice Mason Savoy; following Williams' death in the middle of production, after Yeun and Day had recorded their parts, work on the project "stalled" until he was recast with David Tennant in June 2015; despite this, on April 21, 2017, it was revealed in an interview with Rob Guillory that while all voice recording for the animated adaptation had been completed and animation partially begun, the project had been quietly shelved, Guillory saying that "it just didn't happen because Hollywood can be weird sometimes…" Still pissed this never got made.

David Tennant was apparently on board with it. I don’t understand why people don’t want to make a surefire success like Chew. The odd stuff in One Piece and the success of the character drama in Invincible I feel like is exactly what paves the way for Chew.

I am waiting for beasts of burden With movies like sheep detectives coming out in 2026 (a murder mystery solved by sheep) and good boy (2025) doing well already per the reviews, I have high hopes we can get beasts of burden in the future

I'm still waiting for someone to f****** produce The Goon. I've been waiting ever since the animated proof-of-concept came out ages ago damn it!!

I am not emotionally prepared for an animated We3.

Is anyone, really?

Directed by the same people that did project Hail Mary (due to how they made Rocky feel) or alternatively whoever was in charge of the animal story in the latest guardians of the galaxy

Yes!

Talentagentfriend Mar 24, 2026 +2
It could easily be another success with someone that respects the property. Live action or animated.

Aponda Mar 24, 2026 +2
Rami Malek comes to mind

Monstress is always visually stunning. That art is going to be really hard to emulate, I wish them luck.

Wasn't there a rumor about HBO picking this series up years back? Really looking forward to this. The comics are fantastic.

Marjorie Liu can write her ass off! This is exciting!

rifrev Mar 24, 2026 +6
I thought the reason he quit One Piece was because he wanted a break from showrunning.

MysterWrecked Mar 24, 2026 +7
This is the other showrunner.

MrPMS Mar 24, 2026 +4
Monstress is such a visually striking series that I really hope they don't c**** out on the animation.

Thank you, JESUS!!!!!

Fire_Host Mar 25, 2026 +2
Monstress is an absolute masterpiece - can’t wait for this. (It would all be unbelievably expensive to try and do in live action, so animation makes sense!)

BurningWolfram Mar 24, 2026 +2
Why the f*** are we getting this before Saga???
2
gibbsy34 Mar 24, 2026 +24
Most likely because the comic is closer to finishing than Saga given all the delays and breaks Saga has had

Thanks Dun3

Saga feels unfilmable to me at times. Its grand scope is just so bombastic for screen.
14
BurningWolfram Mar 24, 2026 +8
Animated, there's no way it can be live action
8
shadowdra126 Mar 24, 2026 +3
This is the ONLY way it could work But I worry it’ll end up looking janky like half of the time I’m watching invincible
3
BurningWolfram Mar 24, 2026 +1
Not to mention that sex and very adult themes are critical to the story. I'm curious to see how accurate they make invincible considering what's about to happen with Mark and Anissa.

Rektw Mar 24, 2026 +1
Saga would be awesome. While I enjoy Invincible and vox/mighty nein, I would like to see it go to a better animation studio if it ever gets made.
1
SoylentCreek Mar 25, 2026 +1
Animated Saga in the style of Arcane would be absolute peak.
1
shadowdra126 Mar 25, 2026 +1
Oh man… now I want this
1
Go_Home_Jon Mar 24, 2026 +4
Saga lives in the medium it was made for. Animation, voice, direction, all of it would just produce a pale copy of the original, which I think should be preserved and enjoyed as it is.
4
HuntMore9217 Mar 25, 2026 +2
hxh will end before saga even resumes
2
BurningWolfram Mar 25, 2026
Saga isn't on hiatus

Assuming it is 2d I would gladly be wrong but I have lots of trouble imagining a western studio pulling it off. The 2d animated amazon shows have looked very mediocre.

Xelrinox Mar 24, 2026 +1
One Piece guy jumping to monsters now huh
1
HuntMore9217 Mar 25, 2026 +1
Im probably in the minority but i hope they do Glory High or maybe Uber next
1
InternalParadox Mar 24, 2026 +1
Great series! When I was reading it, I was reminded of a more fantasy Game of Thrones (in a good way), with a badass female protagonist. I’d love to watch it on screen; if they do it right it can be a big hit!

evasandor Mar 25, 2026 +1
“Adult” animated, my patoot— people will be putting their kids in front of it from day one. Americans simply cannot wrap their heads around the concept that movies made from drawings aren’t automatically children’s media
