Several? I feel like Event Horizon and MK are his two most-liked movies. Looking at his filmography will hurt your eyes (I forgot he made that awful Three Musketeers movie and the Monster Hunter abomination). I feel like his only other movie that even \*might\* be as well liked as Event Horizon or MK is the first Resident Evil film. I'm interested though...which of his movies do you think are more highly regarded?

The guy just doesn’t make my kind of movie, really, so I’d put EH at the top and MK 2nd due to childhood nostalgia, personally. His IMDB has several that are rated higher by critics, like Death Race and Resident Evil, that’s all I was saying- and mostly just miffed that EH was forgotten.

I've never been able to find this but its so absurd I know i read it somewhere. That Paul W.S. Anderson spells his name this way to make studios think they are getting PT or Wes Anderson. Maybe this guy thinks Rushmore, Boogie Nights, Royal Tenenbaums, One Battle After Another, and Mortal Kombat were all made by the same person

I didn’t like Mortal Kombat 2021 and felt most of the cast was miscast.  And Cage is miscast in the sequel.

I just think they shouldn't have added a new character to tie to Scorpion, we didn't need that. I personally liked half of the cast, especially since they had martial artists like Joe Taslim. Idk if you can beat ~~Hiroyuki Sanada~~ Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung, but Chin Han did a decent job I thought. edit- brain fart

*Mortal Kombat* (2021) producers: “No… this Johnny Cage guy is too charismatic for our movie. Let’s remove him and add a new character instead - a very passive protagonist with no charisma whatsoever.” I’m glad it looks like they’re fixing this for the sequel.

Paul Thomas Anderson makes great films. Paul W.S. Anderson makes mostly shit, aside from Event Horizon, kinda Mortal Kombat, and kinda Resident Evil 1. Wes Anderson makes weird films that are mostly good.

W.S. Anderson also directed Soldier, which I thought was good with well rounded characters for a B action movie. He also wifed up Milla Jovovich. He has to get some kudo's for that 🤣

I like saying “did you know the original mortal kombat movie was directed by ws Anderson?” But I say it fast like ‘wis’ instead of saying the initials so it sounds like Wes Anderson. Then when they basically refuse to believe it I pull out my phone and say See W.S Anderson in the most I told you so way. Then they usually say something like ohhh I thought you meant Wes Anderson. Then I just act like I have no idea who that is.

Which helps it come across as camp, even though I'm not 100% sure it was intended to be that way. Though, it was a 90's movie based on a video game, and those weren't considered serious art by any means at that time.

Personally I don't think Lambert's acting gets the recognition it deserves. Being able to say lines that cheesy with an almost completely straight face takes skill.

I was obsessed with MK when i was a kid. I remember watching this in theaters and the entire theater gasped and yelled sub zero then scorpion when they entered. Such an awesome theater experience.

I remember back then we thought Scorpion's spear creature thing was so cool! The CGI has aged like milk but it was peak cinema at the time. Of course, that may have something to do with the fact that I was 15.

No it's definitely the right one. Everyone knows his masterpiece was Aliens v Predator, which was infamously snubbed and a major reason why the academy has awarded him this year to make up for that. Personally I am partial to his quirky phase, e.g. Grand Budapest Motel.

Spider-man organic web shooters, and Scorpion organic hand hook, are 2 of the best character updates made to a character in a movie. I wish the characters would have adopted these design choices in all media moving forward as it makes them way more interesting and cool.
