Anne Hathaway is about to be everywhere this year.

And Robert Pattinson and Timothy Chumbleyworner.

Timothee only has Dune coming out this year. I don't think he's even filming anything at the moment.

Jrocker-ame Apr 1, 2026 +41
Eh I dont blame him. From Dune 2 to complete unknown to Marty Supreme to Dune 3. Probably wants break.
41
LittlePuppiesR2Cute Apr 1, 2026 +1
good. i need a break and he has enough money to survive the hiatus I need him to take.

iamacannibal Apr 1, 2026 +1
Wonka 2 is going to start production soon so he will be busy with that.

All_Hail_Hynotoad Apr 1, 2026 +6
He was just nominated for an Academy Award for it

appletinicyclone Apr 1, 2026 -5
If he didn't say the opera ballet thing I think he would have got it above MIchael b Jordan but I think sinners would have then got best film One battle after another still would get best director but maybe best screenplay too
-5
2KYGWI Apr 1, 2026 +2
*One Battle After Another* won Best Adapted Screenplay (*Sinners* took Best Original Screenplay).
2
appletinicyclone Apr 1, 2026 +1
It did. I didn't know OBAA was a adapted screenplay though.
1
reznorwings Apr 1, 2026 +1
Meh, he said that one day before voting closed. I don't know if it had that much of an impact. I would say his general douchey attitude and the negative press around the film itself had more of an impact as to why it didn't win anything.
1
appletinicyclone Apr 1, 2026 +1
>I would say his general douchey attitude and the negative press around the film itself had more of an impact as to why it didn't win anything. If the oscars is about acting performance he did fantastic If it's about how people feel about the person then I think it's more about opera/ballet. We don't know how the voting system works if it's last day block votes
1
reznorwings Apr 1, 2026 +1
Was it a great performance? Or did he just play an over the top version of himself? I feel its the latter and I think a lot on the academy did as well.
1
Creepy-Accident-777 Apr 1, 2026 +1
>Meh, he said that one day before voting closed. I don't know if it had that much of an impact. Not true. The interview/panel came out days before final voting opened. What most likely screwed him was the marketing run leading up to it; bet that turned off a lot of voters.
1
reznorwings Apr 1, 2026 +1
I also feel the whorish marketing campaign worked against him. That and the other negative press around the film.
1
NATHAN4U007 Apr 1, 2026 +14
People love Pattinson(including me) so there is bias but he is literally everywhere as well. But people only seem to notice Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Pedro Pascal etc
14
sentence-interruptio Apr 1, 2026 +1
Bong Joon-ho cloned Pattinson multiple times. Now Pattingson clones are everywhere.
1

I love that. I’m old enough to remember when the venerable character actor Sir Cedric Hardwicke was known as Sir Seldom Hardprick.

AshTheDead1te Apr 1, 2026 +1
That’s wild to say Anne Hathaway is a bad actress…
1
moneymoneymoneymonay Apr 1, 2026 +42
Seriously - the End of Oak Street, The Odyssey, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and this?
42
vibratokin Apr 1, 2026 +19
Verity, too. Colleen Hoover movies have been huge.
19
sexandliquor Apr 1, 2026 +22
By the end of this year people are going to be insufferable with the same tired “I’m so sick of seeing this person in everything. Can they go away. Feels like they’re being forced down our throat” discourse. Same way it was for Glen Powell last year and Pedro Pascal the year before. It’s just her turn this year.
22
RevenueKooky Apr 1, 2026 +11
Only difference is, Anne’s acting is better than Pedro’s and Glen’s
11
Honest_Cheesecake698 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Main difference is that Anne's been a known actress for 25 years, those guys have become more recently saturated. If people are going to be bothered by a lot of Anne Hathaway in one year, then they'll have to accept that she's been here since the beginning of the 21st century and isn't going anywhere. Also, women over 40 getting a lot of roles in one year is good!
1
sexandliquor Apr 1, 2026 +3
Doesn’t matter. Not the point.
3
Rich_Housing971 Apr 1, 2026 -7
Then what was your point? You were saying the opinions of people are invalid because they don't like seeing the same OK actor over and over again, but the rebuttal was that they're not wrong because the acting wasn't good enough to see the same actor a lot. I don't like seeing actors without range in multiple roles in the same year because it's harder to suspend disbelief. An actor with good acting range can make multiple characters believable but a limited actor will just give the impression that it's the actor themselves in the movie, which is bad.
-7
Entharo_entho Apr 1, 2026 +5
They don't have to see the same actor over and over again. Shouldn't people work because some people have the attention span of a toddler? They can watch whatever that entertains them.
5
havewelost6388 Apr 1, 2026 +7
Glen Powell and Pedro Pascal have plenty of range.
7
Natural_Error_7286 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I think overexposure is much more of an issue when someone comes out of nowhere and is suddenly everywhere. Then you get all of this industry plant talk and people getting sick of someone they haven't even seen in a movie yet.
1
JellyBellyWow Apr 1, 2026 +1
Honestly, good for her

xNothing2CHerex Apr 1, 2026 +11

1
The_Count_Lives Apr 1, 2026 +435
lol, this is the quintessential A24 trailer. Actors you know. Doing stuff that feels slightly off. Quick shots of horror stuff. The end.
435
yomamaeatsyellowsnow Apr 1, 2026 +58
And it gets me every time lmao
58
Ehrre Apr 1, 2026 +1
Seriously, inject those A24 trailers straight into my veins
1
-FeistyRabbitSauce- Apr 1, 2026 +1
Absolutely! This is what I mostly want out of a trailer. Give me a brief on the characters, concept, and the vibe. That'll sell me more than most other trailers. I'm not saying it works for every movie, but these types excite me.
1
roydogaroo Apr 1, 2026 +1
Couldn't agree more. I mostly refuse to watch trailers because they so often spoil the movie. My mind picks up on a flash of a scene in the trailer and suddenly i'm piecing together the whole plot and twist from it. So I avoid them for the most part now.
1
gamefrk101 Apr 1, 2026 +142
Better than spoiling everything in the movie like other trailers.
142
mochafiend Apr 1, 2026 +1
Seriously. I think it's a great trailer and I had zero interest in seeing this movie when I heard it announced. I probably still won't see it because I can't do A24 horror or horror-adjacent, but still. Does exactly what a trailer is supposed to do.
1
HarkHarley Apr 1, 2026 +1
I’ll take it over those trailers that show the whole action movie and all the funny lines.
1
snarpy Apr 1, 2026 +20
and me going "hell yes this is for me"
20
fupa16 Apr 1, 2026 +15
Ya that pretty much exactly describes the Backrooms trailer too doesn't it?
15
saucisse Apr 1, 2026 +212
I will be ass-in-seat for David Lowery. I loved The Green Knight with every atom of my being, and if this turns out to be a shitshow then hey at least I'm a data point on a balance sheet somewhere in favor of continuing to give David Lowery money to make extremely weird movies.
212
Solfresh3005 Apr 1, 2026 +30
Worst case scenario he rebounds back to Disney to make another live-action remake for them and continues to make his weird little A24 movies (complimentary)
30
saucisse Apr 1, 2026 +16
Money buys a lot of freedom, I am fully on board the "sellout" train. My advice to the Youth of Today is "take the money and run"
16
Solfresh3005 Apr 1, 2026 +6
I totally agree, I respect that he has a good relationship with Disney and can always make some money so he can get his more personal projects made. Nothing wrong with a “one for them, one for me” director, that’s how you get stuff like this made, or even movies like Sinners.
6
Narretz Apr 1, 2026 +1
This isn't really "sellout" behavior. It's very common that directors cycle between more mainstream movies and their passion projects, because that's how the business works. Ofc Lowery is a bit of a special case because he does mainstream for Disney and his own stuff for A24. But it's good to have a reputation of being easy to work with and finishing your projects on time and within budget.
1
saucisse Apr 1, 2026 +1
Yeah I mean I put it in quotes because that's the usual reach for the internet complainers when someone artsy and weird takes a job with a large corporation.
1
Midnight_Oil_ Apr 1, 2026 +1
While apparently Peter Pan live action was bad, wasn't his Pete's Dragon movie considered way better than it had any right to be?
1
Rex_Suplex Apr 1, 2026 +1
I still actually want a live action Robin Hood remake with CGI Animal characters.
1
polkergeist Apr 1, 2026 +13
Same here, Green Knight lives in my soul
13
dspman11 Apr 1, 2026 +1
This is how I feel about Ari Aster. Ever since I saw Beau is Afraid, he has my undying loyalty. I will buy a ticket to any movie he makes as long as I live. But loved the Green Knight too!
1
mamadovah1102 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I LOVE The Green Knight the same.
1
latelyimawake Apr 1, 2026 +1
I f****** LOVED Green Knight, I’m so in for this
1
emogu84 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Yeah they had me at Green Knight
1
dasbtaewntawneta Apr 1, 2026 +1
Ghost Story is one of my all time fav films, love his work
1
Nut_Butter_Fun Apr 1, 2026 +1
Not sure what people saw in it except maybe directorial sadism, but wasn't my cup of tea.
1
saucisse Apr 1, 2026 +1
The Green Knight, or Mother Mary?
1
Raging_Asian_Man Apr 1, 2026 +52
Even if it sucks, you get to look at Anne Hathaway in hot outfits for two hours.
52
Shok3001 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Ok fine I’ll watch the trailer.
1
Flimsy_Fisherman_862 Apr 1, 2026 +227
There's zero inbetween with this, it's either gonna be great or dire.
227
xotorames Apr 1, 2026 +48
David Lowery in a nutshell for me. Either I love what he's doing or I don't care at all.
48
Responsible-Wall-224 Apr 1, 2026 -6
Same, I thought A Ghost Story was phenomenal and one of the most moving films of the 21st century so far. I was so pumped for The Green Knight but that shit almost put me to sleep, total bore of a film. But I still have huge respect for Lowery, and will be seeing this in theaters
-6
Formal_Sand_3178 Apr 1, 2026 +24
Oh man, I just watched The Green Knight and I thought it was really good, but I can definitely see how it wouldn’t be for everyone.
24
saucisse Apr 1, 2026 +9
Its pretty polarizing! I felt like I was levitating when I walked out of the theater, and the guy in front of me was raging that it wasn't an action movie.
9
Reptile00Seven Apr 1, 2026 +14
I loved The Green Knight
14
iamcoolreally Apr 1, 2026 +1
Ha I have the complete opposite opinion for these two films… the duality of man/woman
1
dspman11 Apr 1, 2026 +1
For me, it's one of those movies where the ending elevates it. I thought it was beautiful and I liked certain aspects of it, but there were a few points throughout where the movie just lost me. But the ending sequence when he finally confronts the Knight, with the vision of what would happen if he ran, etc. was just so f****** good. It rendered all the parts I didn't care for irrelevant and made it a favorite of mine.
1
sheJaMyMorant Apr 1, 2026 +29
I want it to be good but something about everything we’ve seen so far has a weird feel to it lol
29
QTRqtr Apr 1, 2026 +5
David Lowery was honest that for a while he didn’t know what to do with this movie in the editing bay and why it took so long 2.5 years.
5
Sleepgolfer Apr 1, 2026 +23
Let me guess: it's going to be too heavy-handed on the symbolism, a little too on-the-nose with criticism on the current media climate, narratively it will fall flat right around the middle, with a grandiose finale people will refer to as "THAT scene" on social media. With a strong performance by Anne Hathaway but no Oscars.
23
backinredd Apr 1, 2026 +15
Why does Listnook love saying this line?
15
thepolesreport Apr 1, 2026 +1
Because it’s easier to claim a bold opinion and say something is great or horrible than it is to provide nuance
1
dspman11 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Social media favors extremes and rejects nuance
1
fhota1 Apr 1, 2026 +1
A24s motto no?
1
Famous-Country-4921 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I swear some of yall are like video game NPCs parroting the same low effort comment in every thread for a movie that looks even slightly weird
1
Kotleba Apr 1, 2026 +1
Wow it will be good or bad? What a prediction.
1
Granito_Rey Apr 1, 2026 +4
Diiiiiiire for sure, I don't think it has a shot. But that's the joy of being a pessimist, I'm either right or pleasantly surprised.
4
Embarrassed-Sea-2394 Apr 1, 2026 +40
Pop star horror movies are the new thing.
40
shy247er Apr 1, 2026 +25
Smile 2 was awesome.
25
Upbeat_Tension_8077 Apr 1, 2026 +14
Naomi Scott was a revelation in her performance, and it helps that she's actually a pretty good artist with her own music now. She would've went hard under Lowery's direction if she was in Anne's role
14
bindersfull-ofwomen Apr 1, 2026 +2
I still have the Saleka and Kid Cudi song from Trap on rotation.
2
Gambit1977 Apr 1, 2026 +37
Michaela Cole has been consistently excellent in everything I’ve seen her in, and the series she wrote is 👌
37
bindersfull-ofwomen Apr 1, 2026 +15
She has a perfect track record. Her project with the lowest RT score is Black Panther 2 at 84%. Imagine your worst project being nominated for five Oscars.
15
Elemayowe Apr 1, 2026 +2
And she was a minor role in that right? One of the Dora Milaje? So even if it was the worst it’s not likely down to her.
2
ThatPlayWasAwful Apr 1, 2026 +1
Coel, not Cole fwiw
1
TheAutisticStranger Apr 1, 2026 +1
I adore her! One of the funniest women I’ve come across on screen next to Diane Morgan. She leans into the drama so well too. An icon.
1
kneeco28 Apr 1, 2026 +50
The first time I heard about this movie it was in the context of getting a 2023 strike waiver for filming. Usually something with this long a production cycle has had issues. But this looks Persona coded and cool, and I've enjoyed Lowery's stuff before. Will check this out.
50
sheJaMyMorant Apr 1, 2026 +15
wait like persona the game?
15
rgumai Apr 1, 2026 +11
Probably a reference to Ingmar Bergman's Persona, which is a trippy movie about an actress and her caretaker.
11
sheJaMyMorant Apr 1, 2026 +11
sorry I’m an uncultured swine
11
Extreme_Objective984 Apr 1, 2026 +15
You are differently cultured. That is all. JRPG knowledge is not an issue.
15
Creepy-Accident-777 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Nah, you're not alone. Even though I've seen the movie, my first thought went to the game.
1
rgumai Apr 1, 2026 +1
Eh, I probably wouldn't have known/seen it if I didn't take a film class for a humanities credit in college. Not typically the kind of movie I seek out, but it's a very solid flick. Plus yeah, you knew the game series.
1
kneeco28 Apr 1, 2026 +40
I think you're kidding, but in case: no, the Ingmar Bergman movie.
40
sheJaMyMorant Apr 1, 2026 +21
unfortunately no I wasn’t kidding. Embarrassed to admit but I’ve never heard of that movie before. Sounds really cool though I will have to check it out.
21
Miguel_Branquinho Apr 1, 2026 +1
Bergman is amazing, seriously. Watch his Fanny and Alexander, it might be the greatest filme ever made, and a wonderful counterpiece to Brothers Karamazov.
1
bawng Apr 1, 2026 +3
Well, I'm pretty sure the game series took at least some idea inspiration from the film.
3
shinyhpno Apr 1, 2026 +4
I thought the same thing.
4
nocoastpunk Apr 1, 2026 +4
No, the Bergman movie.
4
thewidowgorey Apr 1, 2026
This is me and why I'm so pissed off I can't find any cinemas where this will be playing.
0
barktwiggs Apr 1, 2026 +10
Giving me Neon Demon vibes.
10
snarpy Apr 1, 2026 +4
I mean, that shot of her floating in the red light is like 97% of the shot in *Neon Demon* when they go to the club and >!some poor girl is bound and gagged for a show. !< But yeah, the general vibe is there for sure.
4
stinky-bungus Apr 1, 2026 +2
I was thinking black swan
2
mojo276 Apr 1, 2026 +15
I really liked a ghost story and a green knight, doesn't seem to be enough here to let me know what the meat of the movie is going to be like though.
15
MyNameIsLOL21 Apr 1, 2026 +7
I wonder if it's a Black Swan-type movie where it's basically just the main character losing her mind.
7
GayHymn Apr 1, 2026 +1
This is a weird sequel to Project Hail Mary
1
savessh Apr 1, 2026 +11
Ok. So that’s pretty n shit BUT WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
11
bindersfull-ofwomen Apr 1, 2026 +15
Mother Mary” stars [Anne Hathaway](https://www.indiewire.com/t/anne-hathaway/) as a seething pop singer who becomes embroiled in a psychosexual affair with an old friend and fashion designer, played by “I May Destroy You” multi-hyphenate [Michaela Coel](https://www.indiewire.com/t/michaela-coel/). The trailer, which dropped Tuesday, gives audiences their first real taste of the twisted relationship between Mary (Hathaway) and Sam (Coel), who are brought back into each other’s orbit by the pop singer’s need for a dress that will breathe life into her comeback tour. [https://www.indiewire.com/news/trailers/mother-mary-trailer-anne-hathaway-michaela-coel-1235163939/](https://www.indiewire.com/news/trailers/mother-mary-trailer-anne-hathaway-michaela-coel-1235163939/)
15
savessh Apr 1, 2026 +2
Be good if the trailer showed that.
2
FerBaide Apr 1, 2026 +1
The first trailer pretty much shows all of that, in a very straightforward way mind you.
1
Eating_Your_Beans Apr 1, 2026 +1
There's another, longer trailer that gives more story, this one is more of a teaser
1
snarpy Apr 1, 2026 +1
Listnookors: GODAMMIT WHY DO TRAILERS THESE DAYS GIVE AWAY EVERYTHING Also Listnookors: WHY DIDN'T THAT TRAILER TELL ME 75% OF THE STORY (mostly kidding, but I think this is the perfect way to do a trailer)
1
frogenema Apr 1, 2026 +1
Mary I of England (1553-1558) , whom history remembers as "Bloody Mary." Rumors had it that this murdering British queen killed young girls so she could bathe in their blood to preserve her youthful appearance.
1

F****** tight
2

Wow that trailer was a roller coaster. It also won me over, I’ll be giving this movie a watch, I have to know what the hell is going on here

A24, Michaela Coel and Charli XCX? I'm seeing this 20 times.
1
TheBatemanFlex Apr 1, 2026 +1
With David Lowery this will definitely be...something. Zero expectations but ready to be blown away or disappointed.
1
zeydey Apr 1, 2026 +1
Looks a bit like Smile 2.
1
BrobotMonkey Apr 1, 2026 +1
Love there's a trailer that's intriguing and gives really nothing away. I'm down. (The final trailer will probably be the whole film edited into 2 minutes like most trailers.)
1
LastClassForever Apr 1, 2026 +1
Since the Green Knight, i always dreamed of David and Nicolas Winding Refn should co-direct an A24 thriller.
1
ClockDoc Apr 1, 2026 +1
Looks stunning. Has strong "Last Night at Soho" vibes, which I loved as well. I'm sure fans of Milène Farmer would love this.
1
NinjaZombieHunter Apr 1, 2026 +1
That’s how you do a trailer. Doesn’t reveal too much. Adds some intrigue. I don’t even know what it’s about but I am interested. Lol.
1
Xywzel Apr 1, 2026 +1
So is this off-brand Madonna biography or horror musical? Maybe both?
1
chipotlesoulmate Apr 1, 2026 +1
Damn, was hoping this was Madame Webb 2
1
ReclusiveRaider Apr 1, 2026 +1
Its weird that there's a somewhat known dark electro-pop project called Mother Mary that feels pretty close to this in ways but isn't affiliated?
1
faerierebel Apr 1, 2026 +1
I can't wait for the soundtrack!
1
One-Importance-5767 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Best facelift everrrr
1
dagreenman18 Apr 1, 2026 +1
It’s David Lowery. At its absolute worse it will at least be gorgeous to look at. But I feel great about this one being a banger.
1
Numerous-Key-7069 Apr 1, 2026 +1
lol and I thought it’s a fantastical rendition of the life of Mary, Jesus‘ mama since it’s Lent, you know like Mel Gibson flick.
1
Natural_Error_7286 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I'm excited for this but unfortunately I don't think it's going to be very good. It strikes me as one of those movies that sets up a really tense atmosphere, but then has some weird twist that doesn't land. Looks stylish as hell though, and I do love Anne Hathaway.

David don't let me down! I love A Ghost Story and The Green Knight. This looks very interesting as well.

This is the first I’ve heard of this movie, and it’s coming out in a few weeks. Hmm.

Feels like potentially well trodden ground with Him and The Substance.

Are they going to finally post where the movie is playing because I keep checking Fandango and no movie theaters are listed for this! I want to buy a ticket and I cannot buy a ticket. WTF is A24 on??

Doesn't look like my cup of tea unfortunately. Backrooms though looks great.

me after seeing 30 seconds of Anne Hathaway looking stressed in A24 lighting: 'Take my money and give me a 3-hour director's cut immediately'

Is this a variation on black Snape? We're reinventing you. What does this have to do with the mother of Jesus?

All right. I'm sold. Forget The Odyssey and Devil Wears Prada 2. This is most definitely the Anne Hathaway film I'm looking most forward to this year. Was already sold on the initial trailer but this is definitely doing it for me.

This looks really intense, A24 never misses with these kind of vibes. The visuals and music already feel emotional, I’m definitely curious to see how the story plays out.

This has nothing to do with the Virgin Mary.

That's one of my favorite thing about A24, their trailer doesn't spill up the entire plot

I hate April Fools. I can't tell if this is a joke trailer spoofing "Mother Monster" Lady Gaga or not.
