Did it two years ago. First six months were genuinely hard. Nobody tells you that making friends as an adult is a part time job. What worked for me: joining a recreational sports league, saying yes to every invitation for the first year even when I didn't feel like it, and finding a regular coffee shop where staff learned my name. It gets better.
