Same here. I was looking forward to seeing her flex more of her action & comedic chops under this show

Losing Thatcher is a blow but I’ve been a huge fan of Talia Ryder for a while, hoping this helps her enter the mainstream a bit more

They were meant to film last autumn. Got indefinitely delayed, then got picked back up months later with a new showrunner, by which point Thatcher was filming yellowjackets. Seems like a messy production Eydelshteyn was cast in 2024.

Donald Glover nearly dying is probably why it was indefinitely delayed. He had his stroke in late 2024 and wasnt back to full health until late 2025.

That kind of explains everything from the Community movie to this. It’s still a shame, I just went through Thatcher’s filmography only to realize I had been watching her work not knowing who she was.

That's great for Talia Ryder, but too bad for me. I was looking forward to seeing Sophie Thatcher. Nosy part of me is curious as to why she dropped out. Probably conflicting schedule with Yellowjackets?

I was excited for her. Same way I was excited for PWB in the beginning

Sad to see Donald Glover not involved.

FassyDriver Apr 13, 2026 +3
is it going to be like an anthology series?

WREPGB Apr 13, 2026 +54
Hey, they all know they don't have to do this at all, right?

solidgoldrocketpants Apr 13, 2026 +76
Obviously no one *has* to do anything, but Season 1 was great and they've earned themselves an opportunity to make a Season 2. No one's taking Brad Pitt away from you.

Seriously the first season was so good, the chemistry Erskine and Glover had was phenomenal. If it's anything close to that it's worth another season for sure.

jbaker1225 Apr 13, 2026 +3
Except this season isn't about Erskine and Glover. I don't think many fans of the first season were clamoring for this to be an anthology.

I am aware of that, just saying the quality was so high that it gives me hopes it could happen again. It could also turn into True Detective after season 1, but hey then we just don't have to watch right? I don't really see the issue.

We’ve been told “they aren’t the focus of Season 2” which leaves the door open for a cameo appearance (you never know!), but even if they don’t appear my stance is “They did a great job with Season 1, so even if it’s not the Donald and Maya show I’m inclined to give whatever they do for Season 2 a chance.”

The production took so long that one of the showrunners' contract (Francesca Sloane) with Amazon MGM ended. Now Thatcher was yoinked by Yellowjackets. I'm but a humble teacher, but holy shit, how is it this difficult to make another season of the show?

giant_sloth Apr 14, 2026 +1
Donald Glover had a stroke apparently.

Bruntti Apr 14, 2026 +1
Oh right! He had a hole in his heart or something like that. Yeah, that would explain it.

It’s been 2 years and 2 months since the show first aired. This is always a good sign for a with relatively low stakes, concepts, snd budget, right?

I know the first season had a lot of production issues and it turned out great so here’s to hoping.

Definitely a downgrade.

Is there some kind of new curse forming where the female lead inevitably gets replaced?

Aevum1 Apr 14, 2026 +1

Prof-Ponderosa Apr 15, 2026 +1

Sorry_Reply8754 Apr 15, 2026 +1
But what about the cliffhanger at the end of season? Are we not gonna see the ending of that?

HotOne9364 Apr 13, 2026 +1
Sorry but this is an upgrade.

My heart is breaking not being able to see Sophie do this

leostotch Apr 13, 2026 +1
This is why I don't bother getting into new tv shows - a 9-episode season two years ago, and they're JUST NOW starting to work on a follow-up season. It was a fun show and maybe some day I'll go back and watch it if they get a few more seasons released, but I just can't care about it after it disappears for so long.

shaunrundmc Apr 13, 2026 +1
Glover had a stroke thats why the show was delayed

leostotch Apr 13, 2026 +5
had no idea, I hate to hear that.
