this is one of those things that made me realize how differently people can see the exact same source… i remember watching the news with my dad and we’d come away with completely opposite takes and i’d be like wait were we even watching the same segment?? 😭 it’s kinda scary how easy it is to get pulled into one version of reality depending on where you’re getting info from

I'd really love to see a serious, in depth interview with her. How did this all come about? Take us through her start, where she was screaming in public at school shooting victims and calling them liars, to swearing absolute, full allegiance to the most extreme sides of the right, and nearly dropping to her knees to worship Trump. Then take us through the progression that she's come to now, where she realizes school shootings are a thing, that the right isn't great, that Trump isn't great, that Fox is propaganda, etc. It really would be interesting. And I wonder - would there be anything for us to learn here? Like... if SHE can come around to at least some form of sanity... maybe there's hope for our MAGA uncles and grandparents and all of them? What was it that caused her shift, how did it happen? And before anyone says it, NO, this is not the normal "hey, they toed the party line while in office and shifted after." This clearly is MUCH more extreme than that.

Let’s not lose focus here and get fooled: MTG is not having a redemption arc right now. She is simply preparing for the future. When Watergate destroyed the Nixon administration, there were two Republicans who were able to reposition themselves to be in leadership of the GOP that emerged on the other side: D*** Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. I believe that MTG always thought that most of what she was peddling was total horseshit, but saw how it resonated with her party’s electorate and just went with it. Over the last year, however, she has come to see the writing on the wall; that the MAGA movement is approaching its end and, being the astute politician, has been trying to get in a more advantageous political position for when it all finally comes crashing down. She hasn’t realized that what she’s done is wrong, she just wants to be a leader of the post-Trump GOP. This is how she wants to go about it.
