Does anyone remember James Comer going in front of the press with “proof” of corruption in the Biden family, and he held up 3 checks worth about $5k total?
And republicans were foaming at the mouth. “Car repayment my ass, it’s the Biden crime family”
Where are those morons now???

1
theCaitiffMar 25, 2026

I understand the impulse, but I beg you to stop and consider what that means for just a second. Because the right wing has considered it for a long time now.
Under Article 5 of the constitution, congress is required to call for a convention if enough states (34/50) call for one. State legislatures choose their delegates to send. Once the convention happens, the delegates write the rules, the last time one happened (1787) they scrapped the existing system and wrote a new one (our current constitution).
Ok, so it's a potent tool that can be used for sweeping changes to the very core of our society, that sounds like exactly what we need right?
Republicans control 31 out of 50 state legislatures. It's within 10% in another 4 legislatures. Delegates for a convention are chosen by state legislatures. Republicans will be choosing two thirds of the delegates to the convention.

Not a single post on the Conservative subreddits that I can see relating to this.
I’m banned from them but I desperately want someone to ask how they feel about trump and his family growing their personal fortune by $4 BILLION.
I’ve already seen some of them say how ‘boots on the ground is their red line’.
As soon as ‘boots being deployed for ground action’, that same person says ‘yeah I’m waiting until I see *how many* boots on the ground, 3000 isn’t an invasion force’.
They’re utterly broken.

Aren't these pardons typically worded as being for "all crimes committed"? In that case, it's not a future crime, even if it's discovered in the future.
I'd imagine you'd have to get SCOTUS to declare the pardons unconstitutional.
But now that requires Democrats to have a supermajority in the Senate to impeach the corrupt SCOTUS judges that would never side against Trump and/or add additional seats to the court. Which is never going to happen because even if Democrats gain a supermajority, you're not going to have 67 Democrats who all have a spine. "We have to heal rather than further divide the country" etc.

From my understanding it’s more a tacit acknowledgement, the pardoner does not need to make an official statement - and pardons can be for other things that don’t involve guilt which also clouds.

The window of opportunity is small. The timing is narrow. And, the evidence will be found. Follow the money. Who got rich? Who did they communicate with? How do those communications link back to the white house inner circle? Who will cooperate to avoid prosecution? There are plenty of guilty parties. They all know who they are. They may think they’re safe now. Maybe for some that will be true. But not for all. A day will come, and examples will be made. Until then sleep well if you can.

I mean its useless "if we are able to notice it in time we will stop it" but also double useless because this is specifically a policy about politicians / political candidates betting on their own elections. Noone talks about the impact of insider trading at this level. Sure, there are other and small groups of investors hurt, but there are also pension funds - which most of us have.
This directly seeks to remove value from working people, making pension funds less rich. It is taking wealth from other people and transferring it to themselves. I just wish news articles would even briefly touch upon this, as well as noting that it is corrupt.

You know, in itself, rich people making money doesn't even bother me that much, as they usually eventually spend it, which means other people get to profit off of them etc. What bothers the living shit out of me is that they start a war over it. Raining millions of dollars worth of bombs onto a desert is literally destruction of capital. It's literally all your tax dollars going up in smoke, and you'll be seeing nothing in return, ever again. It's gone.
A single Tomahawk missile costs 3.5 million usd. Poof. Gone. 300 of those things after day 6.
This Iran war is estimated to have cost already over 12 billion usd. All just - gone. You will not see it back, ever again. It's not pumped back into your economy. It's literally the efforts of hard working Americans evaporating in seconds. You blithering idiots.

5
One_Disaster_5995Mar 25, 2026
-2
You really think they got enormous bank accounts somewhere doing nothing? Most of it is tied up in companies and investments that provide jobs and boost the economy. Don't get me wrong - I don't believe in the trickle down effect, and they are not philanthropists - they are using (!) their money to gain more wealth and power. But the fun thing about capitalism has been that they usually invest in things people need and want to buy or gain profit from: inventions and innovations that improve our lives. There is nothing like that in the war with Iran - it doesn't even keep us safe! The only thing it does is force us to replace the damn things with our own money (and, sure, some paid labour). It doesn't boost the economy, it doesn't improve society, it doesn't provide happiness or security - it doesn't serve us in any way!
-2
pockpicketGMar 25, 2026
+1
So it’s just your opinion that rich people spend more of a percentage of their wealth than poor people?
1
One_Disaster_5995Mar 25, 2026
Not sure what you are going for here. Most of the money they have, they don't even really have, as it's tied up in investments, real estate, companies etc. They usually don't just let it sit and do nothing - that would be bad business and rather foolish. Musk is *worth* a few hundred billion USD, but he doesn't actually have it in his bank account. I hope you understand that.
And no, the fact that most of their wealth is invested doesn't mean they don't have plenty of money to throw around as well. 0.01% of Musk's net worth is still way more than you'll likely to ever make in your life. It's almost impossible to spend that kind of money on just buying stuff.
0
pockpicketGMar 25, 2026
+1
You are incorrect. They sit on their money more than poor people do. It’s why they’re like dragons.
1
One_Disaster_5995Mar 25, 2026
Because they simply have more money to sit on and because all their basic needs are covered by the smallest percentage of their wealth anyway. I never denied that. So what are you trying to pick an argument for anyway? It's got nothing to do with my point.
0
pockpicketGMar 25, 2026
