I really hope she gets well, but as far as drunken incidents with high profile people at least this one is kinda light hearted and silly.

s_matthew 4 days ago +582
She was close to dying years ago when in the throes of heroin addiction. She got Hep C because of it and was hospitalized. Rosie O’Donnell took her under her wing and helped her get back on her feet. It was a massive uphill battle. This isn’t a silly, drunken goof; it’s a relapse. Hopefully it ends with this one incident.
582
benkatejackwin 4 days ago +234

s_matthew 4 days ago +126
Just went down a rabbit hole, and, yeah, she certainly did. Such a bummer. I remember when she was near death, and it was lovely to see her get help from peers, get second chances, get work, etc. She’s had a couple headlining TV show! That’s a big deal for an addict who fell as far as she did. I really hope she sorts out whatever’s going on.

What about being escorted off a plane - after the plane had already backed away from the gate - while not knowing where one is, especially once who has had serious drug problems - is light hearted and silly? Surely this is not one too many martinis and not enough bread. But even so.

21
bdubwilliams22 3 days ago +32
Relapsing is part of recovery. I literally don’t know any recovering addict who hasn’t relapsed at least once. The key is understanding what caused it and getting back on the wagon and carrying on, not saying “well, I fucked up so it’s all over, might as well go use”.
32
tattooedcracker 3 days ago +28
My rehab told us, “there’s approximately 35 people in this room seeking long term recovery. Only 1 person in this room will make it. Half of you will die the other half will make atleast 3 trips back here. Be the 1.” Idk if the is a real statistic but I will say since 2019 half of the people in that room have died and a lot of the ones I kept up with went back. I wasn’t that 1 but luckily wasn’t one half either.
28
AccountantCapable 3 days ago +18
Yup. Im a drinker and I know EXACTLY this. The thing you dont understand if you've never been there is how easy it is to give in to it and also how normalised drinking is. If people came home after work each day and had 3 needles of heroin it would be so much of a problem, but 3 wines is just "winding down". And bottle shops are on every street, its like LITERALLY so easy to drink, its way harder not to if you have that in you.
18
milabon 3 days ago +28
Yep! Day 109 of sobriety from alcohol for me. Addiction is insidious and doesn’t discriminate.
28
AccountantCapable 3 days ago +16
I work full time, have a house, a cute as f*** dog, pay all my bills, get my hair done once a month etc, it absolutely doesn't discriminate. Not all drunks live under a bridge. I think more and more people these days realise that alcohol is worse than anyone knew in past generations
16
chunkah69 4 days ago +90
Even if you’ve had sustained sobriety you can relapse multiple times before you’ve had another strong run. It sucks but it happens even to the most steady.
90
1878Mich 4 days ago +33
Yes for sure. 'No matter how far you are down the road, you are still the same distance from the ditch'. Like life, sobriety is a daily journey and not a final destination
33
shaneous 4 days ago +34
I needed to hear this today. Went 3.5 years, and have been trying to get back on the wagon since a relapse in October. It's really hard, but sobriety is always the better option
34
chunkah69 4 days ago +23
Be kind to yourself. No one’s sobriety journey is a straight line. There are detours and you are human. I hope the best for you and just take it one day at a time. I will not pick up a drink today with you.

15
afkstudios 4 days ago +14
Yep, that’s what happened to me. 6 months sober from alcohol, grabbed a drink to cut the edge off of a first date, BOOM. 6 months fully relapsed, even worse than before. 3 more months sober, BOOM. 2 week relapse before someone caught on and helped me hold myself accountable. It’s something people can do themselves for the most part, but sometimes it just takes a village

IANALbutIAMAcat 3 days ago +89
Yeah, I do think that we should be careful about criticizing how someone is reacting to their medications. Natasha has known substance abuse problems about which she has been extraordinarily open. But as someone with ADHD who takes amphetamines as prescribed, people who don't know my health history have told me on multiple occasions that I seemed like I was on amphetamines when I was actually UNMEDICATED at that moment, and that's why I seemed that way. That or they caught me during those 90 minutes in the morning when the meds kick in, and my brain is going 75mph instead of the 60mph limit everyone else is abiding by. But that's not even reckless speeding, I might even get off with just a warning.
89

100% Unmedicated and during PMS I will rattle out whatever random thoughts hit my lil 2 brain cells. I move so fast it makes me clumsy. I’m constantly playing with my hair. Too much adderall (like I’ve taken one and forgot I had, then took another, so 20mg) and I’m super super still. I feel like my skin is buzzing almost. I get so focused on whatever im doing to the point where I forget to eat or drink for hours.
13
Theamazing-rando 3 days ago +14
Believe it or not, this was one of the main reasons the Luftwaffe incurred as many losses against the RAF during WW2 as they did. You see, both sides (and airforces) were taking amphetamines, and the ones given to German pilots were stronger (in a broad sense), so while the pilots of the Luftwaffe were able to stay awake/fly for longer single periods, it meant they were often far more locked in to a single focus point, unable to take on new/developing information from their periphery, unlike RAF pilots. This meant that RAF pilots were still able to disengage during dog fights if more enemy planes turned up and it became too risky, but German pilots couldn't see past their single point of hyper focus, with this being repeatedly used against them. This is also why trialling and tailoring medication for ADHD is as important as it is. The right one is like f****** magic (personal knowledge), but the wrong one or the wrong dose can have you spending 4 hours trying to clean a dark spot on the inside of the fridge, after you went to grab some milk, rather than doing the actual things you needed to do that day! (Also personal knowledge)

If we're working backwards towards a pattern, pokerface ended on the oddest terms, she jumped with two feet into an ai film company (she seems like a weird fit for that even if it was a good idea) and now this.
27
Tibbaryllis2 3 days ago +17
> If we're working backwards towards a pattern, pokerface ended on the oddest terms And it could have easily gone several more seasons with her, but I’m entirely uninterested in whatever they were/are trying to do with Dinklage. And I don’t see anyone taking a chance on her leading a series anytime soon depending on what actually happened behind the scenes.
17
CollinsCouldveDucked 3 days ago +11
I did find it odd how out and loud they were about the dinklage pitch, they didn't even allow fans to mourn the actual show.
11
Tibbaryllis2 3 days ago +5
It was very weird and they also tried to treat it as a planned exit despite it clearly not being the case from what you see in the show. They went *uncanny valley* way too quickly with the level of spin they were trying to do with a season 3 soft-reboot.

Well they work for her, they can't really bodily stop her from going. Unfortunately there isn't always a lot that can be done to force people to act in their own best interest, especially when substance abuse is involved.
155
ThrowRA76234 4 days ago +45
Generally agreed but Hollywood is kind of a special niche with this stuff considering a long documented history of “management” enabling things like substance misuse. Original comment was right to be shocked that mgmt let her out like that but not for the expected reasoning. Typically mgmt is smarter and would absolutely try to cover that up while letting the “problem”fester in isolation. I can imagine a world where she did have to force her way out. I don’t know her at all but it’s entirely logical for someone in a bad situation to “make noise” for attention
45
thrillafrommanilla_1 3 days ago +33
She’s been hanging out with a WEIRD crew lately (look up the Ora sisters) who are ABSOLUTELY the types to not give a f*** if they enable a celebrity’s drug addiction. And her longtime friends recently unfollowed her on Instagram. I’m a fan of hers and had to unfollow her cause her posting was too weird - sure there’s always the fun music and physics posts but then she posts these weird thirst traps with eurotrash (apologies but that’s the best name I can think of) and she’s on like that international celebrity party circuit and I keep asking WHERE ARE HER FRIENDS
33
Competitive_Funny47 3 days ago +12
Early last year her Instagram was mostly her then boyfriend, his kid, trips, books. She seemed to be living a really calm normal life and then I checked later in the year and it was chaos. The relationship was over, she was thin as a rail, weird crowd. I figured she had relapsed.

I was really digging her career Renaissance after OITNB, Russian Doll, and the first season of P**** Face. But S2 of P**** Face was so directionless, I never finished it. Around the time P**** Face got cancelled, her public persona also started to get weird and grating, so I stopped following her on social media. I couldn't put my finger on why she was getting so irritating to watch. When she announced her relapse, it clicked into place. Cocaine. People on coke are so f****** annoying. Annoying and dull at the same time.

I've been wondering that since she announced her relapse, especially since they seemingly tried to rework it with another lead.

I'm so sad that she relapsed. I really hope she can get better - she's such a fantastic actress and seems like a wonderful person, and it really sucks that she's going through this.

It’s a tough time for sobriety right now, there are so many people relapsing. The entire world is experiencing a period of uncertainty, and drugs/alcohol can look very tempting to people experiencing a vulnerable moment. Check in on your sober/recovering friends.

I’ve been clean and sober for many years now. But I have to be extremely careful about circumstances I put myself in because I know that temptation is still very much alive with me. I’ve had to cut people out of my life that I did value our friendship but I just can’t be around certain things or I know the devil on my shoulder will over power anything else. Hopefully she can find what helped her on the wagon in the first place back. I don’t envy stars at all because it seems in those circles it’s just part of normalities. And certain people - regardless how much time, effort, and energy they put towards sobriety can easily be pursued back. I do envy people who don’t have demons and can enjoy a night with whatever they please, and wake up the next morning and continue their lives, just not for everyone to have that power.

I've loved her in everything I've seen her do. She's so talented and unique. I really hope she beats her addiction.  Not long ago, I saw an interview with Jason Sudeikis in which the interviewer asked if the character he played (Ted Lasso) rubbed off on him and Sudeikis gave an emphatic yes, and said that he thinks it's only natural for actors to pick up mannerisms and characteristics from the characters they play.  Natasha tends to play characters who are a little rough around the edges and prone to run afoul of the law, and I don't know if it's life imitating art or art imitating life, but I don't think the roles are helping her stay on the straight and narrow. She is so good at them, though.

Why are you assuming those? Have mostly heard her talk about her heroin use…and she’s passing out in public, not talking a mile a minute Edit: they deleted it but they were saying it was coke or adderall

There's zero nuance on Listnook when it comes to drugs and reading context clues lol

Heroin. She’s been open about it. She’s had serious heart issues due to IV use.

Oh man. Sounds like her relapse in January wasn't isolated. I hope she gets the help she needs (and I kind of hope Mulaney gets to go to her intervention this time around, fair's fair.)

Sad to hear this after her initial relapse recovery.

One time I took an Ambien after we boarded a plane. But there was a mechanical issue, and we had to disembark and go to a hotel. I have no memory of this but my wife apparently performed all sorts of heroics to get me where we needed to go without being arrested or sent to the emergency room.

That’s sad, sounds like a relapse and I wish her the best. Addiction is such a b**** and I know she had been doing good so I hope she can get there again, truly wishing her health and recovery rn.

I find the lining up of events to be concerning and I hope someone reaches out to her and takes care of them. Euphoria also seems like such a hard media to consume when you’re trying to stay clean — not an addict just my own perception , disclaimer because I also don’t want to talk about things I don’t understand as if I did.

Oh no. I hope she didn't relapse. This is upsetting. ETA: Dammit she did, admitting it earlier in the year. Some of the comments and judgement in this thread are disgusting.

It's so sad that she was on a tv set that might have triggered her when it seems like she is in a relapse. Euphoria is the last TV show if I was an actress to work on due to its reputation as a bad workplace. I hope things get better for Natasha. Sobriety is such a long. Natasha is such a talented actress!

All my support to her. She had a rough upbringing and life. Can’t be healthy to relapse in front of everyone.

What a heartwarming collection of comments being understanding of someone suffering with addiction and in the public eye. As an addict who has relapsed many times myself I can relate. When it does happen to me I assume the worst, that everyone hates me, I’m a failure, I should just go away forever etc. Thank you everyone here, I will remember all of you in my darkest hours

I first expected this to be the result of some friction, either from a flight attendant or a passenger, regarding her wardrobe. Unfortunately it’s apparently drugs.

She's probably on methadone or benzos for withdrawal symptoms. Guys, addiction recovery isn't an easy A to B trajectory. I've never done the drugs she has, but friends sure have and it can get sloppy sometimes. Compassion because it's a disease is a bit necessary here. Eating pretzels is hardly a sin.🤦‍♀️

Man, it suck’s to see her struggling. Been a fan of hers since But I’m A Cheerleader, and she just seems like a solid human. Even this incident like…yeah, it’s bad but it’s not like she hurt anybody, or was an a******, she was just fucked up and eating pretzels in the airplane bathroom. Hope she gets the help and support that she needs.
